I can't help but to agree. Next to Nintendo (which I Am a Nintendo Loyalist), Sega did give Nintendo a run for the money, not only in graphics and gameplay but catchy tunes that IMO out classed some Mario Games (SOME). lol Whats bad, is that I'll be around 60 years old and I'll be able to hum these tunes on Sonic 2. Every song here is catchy and can get you bopping your head to the beat. Chemical Plant is ..."probably" the best one, cause it's a Funky fast tuned song (song sounds like it comes from an 80's theme club song lol).- Can anybody actually Dance to this song? I could. My 2nd fav is Hill Top Zone, 3rd Oil Ocean (Egyption theme anybody?-freaken awesome.) And last but not least, Sky Chase Zone !
25:14 Options theme for some reason instills confidence- like they knew the game was good when they had made it. A very memorable piece from childhood.
There are few VG soundtracks that are absolute perfection start to end, and even fewer on the Genesis. Sonic 2 is without a doubt the greatest, nothing else even comes close. These crazy tunes inspired by jazz and prog rock pushed the soundchip to its absolute limits, and the result is magic. TEN OUT OF FKING TEN.
The music back then was so well thought out for every stage !! Hearing these gives me goosebumps ! Takes me back to a time I think many of us long for today !!
I remember I was on the sixth emerald Ready to win... Omg 2 rings above I need! Almost there! I'm gonna win! _"OOH LOOK MINES!"_ _"TAILS NO!"_ **Hits** _"Lmao oops"_
Shadic The Hedgehog Tails was awesome in the classic games in every way EXCEPT for the special stage. "Tails, I know it's mating season, but the mine is NOT the place to do it".
ndclub67 Yep. Sonic 2 is overrated. I mean, it's a very good game, but it's just considered the best by most people because it was sold more and therefore more people played it.
And ofc you know this? Haha. Played all 3 games when i was little, played all 3 games again yesterday. Sonic 2 i think was the best and most fun. Dont think you know everything
As soon as I heard 'Emerald Hill Zone' (1Player version) back then, I *knew* that I was witnessing a gaming masterpiece being revealed. Unforgettable opening stage theme.
+Marios Sklavenitis they sure did man. The music in Sonic 2 was a huge advancement on Sonic but both are really good. The Sega Saturn had an amazing Yamaha sound chip too but unfortunately hardly used as programmers were lazy and most music was streamed off the CDs. There is something real cool about the FM synths I agree.
Sky Chase Zone was always such a quick breath before the final push - like, relaxing, until you see the Wing Fortress and you're like, ugh, more robots to end.
Crazy how someone composed a whole actually pretty good track for Death Egg zone even though there's no reason to do anything other than instantly run straight to the boss and the music changes so no one ever heard it.
I think i shed a few tears just now I remember being the only kid in my class that had a sega genesis everyone was a Super Nintendo kid I felt proud of being a sega kid!! Seeegaaa
Oil ocean zone goes hard AF. I remember as a kid that I liked that one in particular. The actual zone itself is also pretty cool looking. It's crazy how time flys man. Scary almost
This music and this game are part of my DNA. It's been nearly 30 years since I last played this game and I still know every note that is performed in each track

This is simply one of the best games from the 90´s mmh yes i´m still in love.....
I can't help but to agree. Next to Nintendo (which I Am a Nintendo Loyalist), Sega did give Nintendo a run for the money, not only in graphics and gameplay but catchy tunes that IMO out classed some Mario Games (SOME). lol
Whats bad, is that I'll be around 60 years old and I'll be able to hum these tunes on Sonic 2.
Good for you big guy, I am happy for you 👍
This has to be my favourite game soundtrack of all time! I grew up with this gem, and still love the game and music 😁🎵🎶
Hey there, I couldn't help but notice your profile and wanted to say hello. How has your day been so far?
The best Sonic game, and probably the best soundtrack out of the Sonic games too. The music of these games and Streets of Rage were just insane.
Sonic soundtrack was so ahead of its time. One of the best soundtracks for a video game of all time in my opinion
Aquatic Ruin Zone 3:50 is soooooooo good
imustbetheone search oliver sirois aquatic ruin, if you like
I've ever thought those FX sounds are from a Tarzan sampler, I can't be wrong.
Best genesis game music. Change my mind.
Concuerdo perfectamente
Damn Chemical Plant! Hated that level with a passion! Always had me drowning in water😂😂😂
timing the rotating platforms was a nightmare if you didnt time it right you'd end up drowning
the purple chemical runoff
Factsssss, drowning in the pink water was torture. Chemical plant music was def micheal jackson inspired.
The worst part for me for some reason was the boss fight🤣
The baselines... my God...
Sir.. If your not hearing audio, (pro tip)
*whispers* Try turning up your bass.
firstname lastname : I assume someone deleted the comment between ours, correct?
Zaviay Taylor yes, are Soo good. Pure art and even more with the old technology they produced it
The little nod to green hill zone in Emerald Hill is lovely.
omg this sound track brings back memories of my childhood
25:14 Options theme for some reason instills confidence- like they knew the game was good when they had made it. A very memorable piece from childhood.
The nostalgia came like a wave when that opening played.
GOD this brings back soooo many memories ...i remember when i was in primary school and i always had time to play .... now i have none
The 16 bit era was flawless for game soundtracks. The original Sonic still remains number one for me. 19:17 Boss is legendary.
Man, the best I was able to describe was like an industrial jazz 😅
Sonic had come a long ways since I first played this game. Today, I still look at this game as one of the bestest games in the series.
Aquatic Ruin Zone just keeps me relaxed every time I play this stage.
Agreed 100%
Sky Chase Zone, el nivel responsable de que ame las nubes como un elemento de tranquilidad y paz, gran compositor Masato Nakamura c:
It's unreal how catchy the Chemical Plant Zone music is. I mean, the whole game has catchy music, but CPZ is just so upbeat.
I hope the composer knows just how much this soundtrack is loved and adored by so many players around the world.
I felt untouchable in The Chemical Plant Zone. The music made me feel like I had to speed run.
Nostalgia. The best. Such great bases and composure. Chip tune at it's finest
The only Sonic game I ever played on a real Genesis. A masterpiece.
The music back then was so well thought out for every stage !! Hearing these gives me goosebumps ! Takes me back to a time I think many of us long for today !!
the first sonic will always have a special place, it was my first console and game of my very own but I think I like this soundtrack better.
Casino Night (2 Players) makes you feel *like if you hit a jackpot*
agreed lol
My favorite track.
"Hit" in the past tense is still "hit".
THE GRAMMAR!!!
I'm actually spanish, sorry.
Imagine someone dropping a match in oil ocean zone lol
OMG That would be scary in a non horror game! O.O
Sonic Mania says hi
@@no.402 XD
FOOOOOM
Fire force field in sonic mania 💀
35:53 this is like honey to my ears , especially after i finished the game !
I'm crying y'all! My childhood had its rough patches but I miss it so much. The innocence. 😢
I know what you mean
wow... how can every track be amazing!! 👏🏼
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
23:33 TAILS, NO! DO NOT HIGH FIVE THAT MINE WITH YOUR FACE!
LOL that was so annoying
I remember I was on the sixth emerald
Ready to win...
Omg 2 rings above I need!
Almost there!
I'm gonna win!
_"OOH LOOK MINES!"_
_"TAILS NO!"_
**Hits**
_"Lmao oops"_
Shadic The Hedgehog Tails was awesome in the classic games in every way EXCEPT for the special stage. "Tails, I know it's mating season, but the mine is NOT the place to do it".
Best Sega Genesis game ever.
Until S3&K
ndclub67
Yep. Sonic 2 is overrated. I mean, it's a very good game, but it's just considered the best by most people because it was sold more and therefore more people played it.
What do you mean by "lol bitch"?
And ofc you know this? Haha. Played all 3 games when i was little, played all 3 games again yesterday. Sonic 2 i think was the best and most fun. Dont think you know everything
Better soundtrack and overall funnier zones in Sonic 2.
The limits of the tech at the time and they push it to the limit on what it can do. This music beats alot of game music to this day.
It beats everything
Metropolis, Sky Chase, Chemical Plant and the game ending song will always have a special place in my heart
sonic 2 probably has the best sega genesis soundtrack.
nah i reckon streets of rage does
***** Yes! Streets of rage killed it!
All the Yuzo Koshiro works comes first, but Sonic is my second favorite OST.
xDiamondDoll702x No
***** Nope
As soon as I heard 'Emerald Hill Zone' (1Player version) back then, I *knew* that I was witnessing a gaming masterpiece being revealed. Unforgettable opening stage theme.
God did Yamaha make some good fuckin sounding synthesizers. Cant believe this is still synthesis. sounds like a modern edm song
Late 80s and early 90s... the golden age of the synth for me.
Sky Chase Zone was always such a quick breath before the final push - like, relaxing, until you see the Wing Fortress and you're like, ugh, more robots to end.
Dude this guy was on a roll. This is such an amazing soundtrack. You can tell he plays bass lol.
Chemical Plant Zone was always my fave soundtrack. I just used to sit there sometimes and listen to it lol
This brought me back 20 years...
Thanks...

Yoo mystic cave goes hard af. And oil ocean is Egyptian af, god I love it all..so many great memories and feels!
Crazy how someone composed a whole actually pretty good track for Death Egg zone even though there's no reason to do anything other than instantly run straight to the boss and the music changes so no one ever heard it.
Ikr?? & it's my favorite song in the game :')
Metropolis Zone made me feel like a million bucks as a kid
Nostalgia really hits me hard with this game in particular. No other game hits me like this.
Dude, that music made me cry 😭♥️
😀😀😀🤤😅😅😅😮😮😮😮🤑🤑🤑
🦔 = 🟦
The love i have for this games and tracks :) always reminds me of simpler times and less stressful times :D miss the 90's
Scary almost
if I had to pick one game to play for the rest of my life it would be this
7:18 Hill Top always made me feel like I was in Canada or something.
+intigfx FUCK this made me laugh so much
Chemical Plant Zone goes so hard🔥🔥
Whole Soundtrack is fire, but Hidden Palace Zone is a hidden gem. Would play it in sound test mode all the time as a kid.
Wish i could go back to the 90s and stay there.
I want my childhood back!
+Martin Fretes Better get going on that time machine then, mate
+Martin Fretes Your inner-child is not dead
Welfz Twingo Furs stupid fool go away
7:19 - Watching Tails ride away on a gondola by himself....
This music and this game are part of my DNA. It's been nearly 30 years since I last played this game and I still know every note that is performed in each track
