Old consoles are dying slowly. We can plug real vintage controllers on the PC with adaptors. Retrogaming is becoming a rich people thing. No need to clean a shitload of cartridges regularly that seem to die more everyday because of the decades they have lived. No need to live in a castle anymore to stock all these motherfucking games. The experience is often better with emulators nowadays anyway, I can say it I have both: I have the original consoles too. Accept it. And I forgot: I can play to any obscure game non-available in my country without being forced to sell a part of my body.

I played this game a ridiculous number of times as a kid. I pretty much discovered every glitch. I especially hated the one where turning into super sonic after the stage clears (before the text appears) would crash your game by having you be stuck there infinitely, you couldn't even wait for a time up or anything since you already beat the level.
What? I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen on PAL at least. OK looks like there were two versions of Sonic 2, and they were both worldwide (ie. region free). It's possible you had the first revision and everybody I know had the second.
I forgot how clean Sonic 2's music was in comparison to the first game, the 3rd game and the Knuckles game. I don't care that Micheal Jackson was responsible for those tracks, the sound clarity just wasn't there in Sonic 3/Knuckles. Sonic 2 by far, has the cleaner sound.

It would be terrific to listen these tracks in the best quality they were designed for!
Fun fact: the "hidden palace” song at the end (track 10 in sound test) is not actually meant to be used for hidden palace, it might have been used for a cutscene involving super sonic. 👍

+MrDerOutsider Not just that... some emulators actually replace the PSG square waves with sine waves. You can easily tell if Sonic's jumping sound is way too smooth. On a real genesis some of the higher frequencies are also filtered out, but emulators keep them so some of the instruments that sound distorted but perfectly usable on hardware are terrible in emulators. The guitars of Thunder Force 4 for example.

I don't think it's a default setting but people turn it on not knowing any better. "Gee this says "psg enhance!" better turn that on!" That's exactly what happened to it. I don't have any way to appeal the copyright claim, even though I'm about 90% sure it's wrong. Most of the time I'll get 3rd parties monetizing my videos (I don't really care about that) but sometimes they'll just get removed.

Regarding Sonic 1, only SEGA and the actual composer have the right to block your video, not (TMSanime). 90% sure it's wrong you say? I think that's enough to either make a counter-claim yourself saying that not only is it under fair use but this mob don't own any portion of the music or just re-upload a new fresh video of Sonic 1.

They recycled many themes after the Classic Era, but never the wonderful unused Hidden Palace one.
