    What I'm curious is how many people actually recognize it as master of puppets and how many are stopping because they just genuinely like the tune.

      That's because you aren't used to hearing the piano keys being hit so hard. If you start beating the fuck out of your guitar it will also get more agressive. But mostly just sound messy. That's the reason why certain parts here are so hard to recognize and this arrangement only works by itself.

    I like how, when she plays Bohemian Rhapsody beautifully, the comments are rife with critiques saying the changes in tempo ruined it (obviously I disagree, I personally found it even more enjoyable). But then, she takes some liberties on classic, beloved metal songs from bands like System of a Down and Metallica and everyone just enjoys it. Good on you fellow metal fans. And props to vk for being amazing.

    • @shenkeey
      @shenkeey 6 років тому +12

      I play piano, and I can confirm that this is just improperly done. It has nothing to do with ''rubato'', because this simply isn't rubato - this is not keeping the tempo in proper ranges. Also, it's metallica, which is solely based on rhythm and, to a certain degree, groove. she did it on purpose sure, and she is allowed to sure, but that makes no difference. It's quite objectively just not properly executed for a cover of metallica. If I play La Campanella and all I do is slow down to .5x speed every few seconds; not only does it miss the entire point of the piece, it also would sound incredibly a-musical.
      Credit where credit is due: she's good at making interpretations and I quite like most of the stuff she puts out. But this simply isn't one of them. And it makes no difference whether it was live or not either, it's simply not properly executed.
      A pianist also needs rhythm. Listen to fantaisie impromptu by chopin. It has a polyrhyhm, the left hand plays 3/4 and the right hand plays 4/4 time signature. It makes no difference if you have ques. Every musician should be able to be reasonably on-tempo. Rubato is changing the tempo slightly, but within the realm of musicality. Playing out of tempo is simply disregarding any groove and rhythm for no apparent reason.

      PianoStrikez Music i dont know if you play an instrument but while true that it may come easier to some, you still have to put great effort into mastering an instrument like vk does

    it is amazing, how you can concentrate in such a crowded environment.
    And when you are playing even a piano so much out of tune sounds good

    I don't know if the piano is slightly out of tune, but the solo almost sounded Vaudevillian.

      JonSnowIII actually, classical is pretty similar to metal, and vice versa. They both have the high and low parts and all that fancy stuff

    Proof that even thrash metal, along with blues, country, oldies, rock, hip hop, and pretty much everything else sounds good on piano.
    Piano is king.
