      many metal songs gain grade by sheer power. however a "good" piece should accomplish something on a musical level. And if it sounds like something on the piano, that means there is something to it, other than just force.

      Not really. Classical is much more complex.

    • @hattrickster33
      @hattrickster33 6 років тому +18

      @@hgwiechie Actually it really depends on your definition of "complex." Does this refer to the technical complexity, the complexity of the meaning of the music, how difficult it is to perform, or something else? Besides that, these factors vary a lot between different songs. I would agree that a lot of metal is pretty simplistic and repetitive. But Metallica is a big exception. If you look at rock music in general, there are a few other good examples, like Queen.

      Many people tend to forget that the song Master of Puppets is about drug use, drug addiction, and the affliction it brings... and how you'll always "come crawling" back to it, as your life burns faster, it rules you, it is your master.. etc.
      So, this song is about one of the most ambivalent struggles a human can go through... and this lady really makes it come to life through her piano. Extremely well done !

    It's amazing how much Metallica sounds like Beethoven when play on a piano. I'm pretty sure that if Beethoven would have had an electric guitar in his time, he would have been rocking out just as hard.

    • @MadJDMTurboBoost
      @MadJDMTurboBoost 8 років тому +2

      William Lockhart This sounds nothing like Beethoven. He had very simple repeating melodies from which he would extrapolate. This is a whole mess of power chords that's very hard to follow if you haven't heard the actual song before.

    • @gothicknight5538
      @gothicknight5538 8 років тому +3

      MadJDMTurboBoost Yes, I have listened to the actual song many times. As well as listening to Beethoven in which I also play on my keyboard. I didn't expect my comparison to be taken so critically. Obviously Beethoven's music is far more complex than Metallica's. I just find that the overall expression and structure of the song being played on a piano resembles Beethoven.

Music has charms to soothe the savage beast (or breast), but you’re playing brings out the beast in me! The sound of that Imperial is incredible! Your playing is so inspiring!
