Sad wings of destiny and sin after sin, are masterpiece of rock.
My two favorites.
I am up for more shows in this format. Don't care which bands are discussed as Simon and Steven are always make me laugh.
Thanks Jason, that's good to hear! 👍
Steven Reid is an absolute legend. Even more so with that fantastic Europe - War of Kings shirt. 🤘🏻🎸
I simply had to wear my Europe shirt CamRock! 😉
War of Kings is an album worth checking out!
@@TranquilityFireReid I think I need one now! I’ve actually been listening to that album on repeat this past week, so the timing couldn’t be better good sir ! I Always love you commentary 👍🏻
@@camrock3534 Thanks again!
Europe are a brilliant band, getting better with age.
Priest have 5 platinum albums in America
Unleashed in the East
British Steel
Screaming For Vengeance 2x
Defenders of the Faith
Turbo
They have 7 gold albums
Sin After Sin
Stained Class
Hell Bent For Leather
Point of Entry
Priest…Live
Ram It Down
Painkiller
sales of 12,000,000 units.
Surprising statistic: They’ve outsold Iron Maiden in the states. Shocking but true.
Point of Entry would be my wildcard. It's another strange transitional album that had them trying different styles going forward. I have affection for it because it's the first cassette I ever bought.
It was my first LP I bought by the band in 1981😎🤘
@@zachary1966 Same here what a year, good times.
The first album I thought of when ‘Wildcard’ was mentioned. I’ve always loved that album.
A really cool format. Love it! It was a lot of fun listen to you guys! I'm not a Priest fan, but this show made me wanna re-listen to some of their albums. Looking forward for more shows like this!
My introduction to Judas Priest was British Steel, when I heard Living After Midnight I bought the album, I wasn't familiar with their earlier work, and when Point of Entry came out I was not disappointed, I loved it, I thought it went well with British Steel. I know the diehard fans have a problem with that album, but that was during a great period in my life, partying to Heading Out to the Highway, Solar Angels, Hot Rockin, yeah I'll always think fondly of that album...
Agreed, too many classic gems on PoE to dislike that album. The heavy songs on BS may in nature have been heavier than anything present on PoE, but BS also had its fair share of softer melodic tracks (chiefly its three singles).
Solar Angels is a very important thing....it definitely sowed the seed for Cowboys from Hell
Really like this format, what a great group! Definitely do more of these. I wish Steven Reid had his own channel, that guy is just legendary!
Now, I'm going to get my own t-shirt printed with that on the front!
Great concept and show more of these would be excellent. And I always appreciate a good rant.
My top two: Stained Class (1978) and Painkiller (1990)
My bottom two: Demolition (2001) and Turbo (1986)
Wild card: Point of Entry (1981)
Great episode!. I love listening to you three🍻
Fantastic episode! I was on a business trip to British Columbia when watching this - and I was enjoying a great Hazy IPA from Stanley Park Brewing out of Vancouver, BC. Their "The Captain Hazy IPA" was a fantastic brew that went well with this discussion.
I had a good time watching this. Would love to see another one!
Cheers guys for another awesome show love it.
Great opening guys! 👍👍👍
A return to form for these gents with this show, it was very much their Painkiller. When there are only three parties, there is no hiding place and everyone brought their A game with a vengeance. I didn't want the show to end. Bravo Simon! Bravo Steven! Bravo Pete!
Brilliant shows as always guys thank you 😊.
Thanks Jonathan!
“Out In The Cold,” from Turbo, is a stellar song and one of my absolute favorite JP tracks. Yes, please continue this series with the UK cats. Besides Maiden, how about Thin Lizzy, BÖC, Heart, Styx, Zep, etc.
🎵”Where are you now? / The fears are coming back once again / Oh, l wish you were here / Taking good care of me / I want you / l feel as though I’m out in the cold… “🎵
Hi Pete, Simon and Steven fun as always with all of you , I never heard anything from them but I know of them so will check them out for my homework
I actually love Nostradamus. Rob sounds great on it but I agree that it can be trimmed down to 1 cd. Persecution, Pestilence and Plague, Revelation, Alone, Nostradamus are all great! Give them another chance.
Really enjoyed this discussion about Judas Priest on Paddy's Weekend!
Keep up the good work lads!
Really looking forward to the discussions today. My favourite Judas Priest album(s) is a virtual tie - hard to pick which one is best between Painkiller and Defenders of the Faith - both have such strong tracks all through. Least favourite is Jugulator. ADDED AFTER THE SHOW........Great episode today. Really liked the format of 2 Favs, 2 Least Favs, and especially the idea of a wild card pick.
Thanks Gary! So many great albums in this catalogue - and a few that are not quite so great!
Thanks Guys, this was fun. I'd give you mine, but you've inspired me to move forward with my full ranking the albums of Judas Priest. Hopefully soon, thanks again. Going to have to try that Ommegang beer Pete, if my local distributor has it.
I really like this format so I really like to see more. However you guys can do no wrong in my opinion. Great show as always!
Great show! Loved the discussions, Steven Reid is always having so much fun and enthusiasm. Definitely do a Maiden show as well! Would love to hear that! I am not too keen on "Turbo" though. But I like "Nostradamus" and my cousin even loves it. It is one of his favourites by them. :D So "Nostradamus" would have been my pick for "in the middle/underrated", "Redeemer" and "Turbo" at the bottom and for best ones "Sad Wings" and "Stained Class" like Pete. :)
One of my favorite shows on SOT. All of you guys are great. Really like me some Priest, but I don't have all the albums. Great show. Thanks guys.
Thanks Jeffrey!
Thank you Simon, and it's been a week, or two, but I'm still digging Massive Wagons. Thanks again.
That was a great show thank you, really entertaining.
Ram it Down my wildcard - it was the first CD I ever bought along with my first CD player so it was quite an event! 1989 it would've been. Heavy Metal was the song that kicked me in the head I can still remember hearing that intro on my first listen. To this day Blood Red Skies and Hard as Iron still up there 🤘
Top 2 today different answer tomorrow would be Sin After Sin and Painkiller
Bottom 2 Defenders (yes I know) and Nostradamus.
Cheers from NZ 👍
Another fantastic show everyone.
Favorites: Sin After Sin, Painkiller
Close: Stained Class, Defenders of the Faith, Screaming for Vengeance
Least: Nostradamus, Ram it Down
Close: Demolition, Point of Entry, Turbo
Great show guys!
Love your show. Pete you have turned me on too so many great bands I have never heard of until your show
Pete you are spot on with your top rwo! Right on again!!
Love this Idea! hoping there will be more!
Thanks Drew. There certainly will be!
More please. Brilliant idea.
Thanks Michael!
another great show i always look forward to this show. i loved simons little jordan pickford mention ( tyrannosaurus rex arms )
Simon is the master of the understated one liner! Loved that one!
Well my intro to the mighty Judas priest was defenders of the faith that I got on cassette for my 14th birthday and turbo that same year it took me to mid 20s to discover the really awesome 70s and early 80s albums been a fan ever since
So great topic.
I just love Turbo. I didnt when it was released but today it is one of the most played Priest albums in my Home.
And Priest Live… the opening and Halfords entrance on Out In The Cold is one of the coolest ever.
Another great video guys! `Painkiller` all the way for me! I really love in particular the intro to `Between The Hammer and the Anvil`, when Rob comes in with that scream! Wow! `Sad Wings of Destiny` as second favourite perhaps? I don`t mind `Nostradamus`, it has it`s moments.
Favorite: Turbo, Sin After Sin, Ram It Down, Point Of Entry, Screaming For Vengeance
Least Favorite: Rocka Rolla, British Steel, Jugulator, Demolition
Great format. Love to see you do Maiden for sure
Favourite: Painkiller, Jugulator
Least Favourite: Rocka Rolla, Angel of Retribution
Wildcard: Ram it Down
Happy new haircut Pete ! Couldn’t do the live show, too much booze; Stella (wife beater) and Six Nations rugby. But what a superb way to start a Sunday. Thanks fellas 👍🏻👍🏻
As I'm watching this Sunday morning, having gone to see The Batman last night, tipple for today is a nice hot cup of tea!
Great show as ever gents, really enjoyed this one. Definitely looking forward to more of these - Maiden is a good choice, but you could pretty much do this for any band with a decent catalogue... Magnum would be an interesting one !
Sad Wings of Destiny, Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance definitely 3 of my top 5.
Excellent show, you guys don’t disappoint 😄
Some band ideas:
Iron Maiden sounds cool
Saxon
Accept
Helloween
Deep Purple
Whitesnake
and possibly Uriah Heep
The Best Priest Album: Stained Class
Runner Up: Hell Bent for Leather
The WORST Album: Nostradomus (The only one)
The Underrated Album(s):
Rocka Rolla
Jugulator
Demolition
Great show Guys and by the way Steve I have that beer glass too
We are people of good taste! 😉
Favorites: 1) Point of Entry 2) Defenders of the Faith
Least favorites: Jugulator & Demolition
Wild card: Firepower
Hey great show guys, always ready for some Judas Priest discussion. I like the two favs/non-favs aspect as well as the wildcard. Mine would be Stained Class and Hell Bent for the favorites; Demolition and Nostradamus for the dislikes. The wildcard is tough, but Defenders or Redeemer would fit this spot well. I think an Iron Maiden show would be great and I hope we get other bands like this too. Cheers!
Thanks Joseph. Great to see such a variety of Priest albums getting some love. We really enjoyed this format too so hopefully much more to come like this.
Favorites - Rocka Rolla, Point of Entry, and Sin After Sin.
Least - Nostradamus, Jugulator and Demolition. As much as I never cared for Owens' voice that much even before he joined Priest in '96 I'd still take those two albums over Nostradamus any day.
Dxd
I thoroughly enjoyed this show, keep 'em coming!!!! Top: Painkiller and Fire Power. Mid Turbo and Point of Entry and Bottom Nostradamus and Demolition. First live Priest experience was '82 Screaming for Vengeance w/ Maiden opening of course!!!! Became a Huge fan of Both as the lights came up.
Good episode gents, with Pete on Rocka Rolla, some good stuff on that which seems to get overlooked
Great shirt Steven! I agree!
Thanks Dante!
Great show! (and yes bring on the Maiden!) I pretty much like all their albums even Nostradamus with Demolition being last and Stained Glass being first.
Point of entry has 4 songs I really loved. Desert plains, turning circles, heading out to the highway and solar angels. I listened to that album when I was 14-15 years old which is why it is so nostalgic for me
The four horsemen tracks of that album, yes.
Great show boys! My two favorite would probably be, Stained Class & Sad Wings of Destiny for sure, my two least favorite would probably be Nostrodamus and Demolition, as far as a wildcard goes, I'd probably pull a Pardo and pick two. lol Screaming For Vengeance & British Steel are both good albums, I know British Steel has some songs that have been played to death but I love some of those songs, Grinder is a favorite also. Looking forward to the Iron Maiden show! Cheers guys!
This ended up being a great look throughout Judas Priest's discography without relying on the obvious 'classic' album choices. I have to say, as cliche (and obvious) as it could be, this format would be amazing for Deep Purple's output. I've been listening to a lot of the Morse era lately, which I mostly quite love, and I certainly think we'd all be entertained by this trio's discussion of the band in general.
I like that idea! Thanks for watching.
I think we could Purp it up.
Cheers to great Music
My top 10 studio albums:
1. British Steel
2. Sad wings of destiny
3. Killing Machine
4. Sin after sin
5. Defenders of the faith
6. Stained Class
7. Angel of retribution
8. Painkiller
9.Rocka Rolla
10.Firepower
Least favorite: Ram it down
I love both Ram It Down and Nostradamus. So, take that, Simon.
Guys, I'd love for you to do this exact show but about Iron Maiden! (this post proudly brought to you by the Steven Reed bot-generator). :D
😂😂😂😂😂
Turbo was the first Judas Priest album I heard. So for me it has a special place, even though I understand the hate from older fans. Or younger that started with Screaming for vengeance and Painkiller
Another great video gents. This was hard!!!
Favourite two:
Killing Machine, first Priest album I bought, an absolute classic.
Painkiller, absolutely blew my mind, just an total banger!!
Least Favourite two:
Demolition, just crap, really boring!
Nostradamus, absolutely shocking! Love prog hate this!!
Wildcard:
Turbo, really like this album vastly underrated!
Definitely do more videos like this, one on Queen would be good!!
I'm the same age as Steven but my first entry was Priest....live. And It's not that bad of an album. Gave me a good introduction to the band at least.
Very nice video with a nice concept. I want more!
Thanks Bjørnar!
Favourites: Stained Class and Painkiller
Least favourites: Nostradamus and Turbo
Wild card: Point of Entry
Yes! Iron Maiden episode would be good!
Yes, please continue doing two favorites, two least favorites, and a wildcard with other bands. I am looking forward to the Iron Maiden one.
Thanks John!
Always a fun show, have to admit I lost interest in Priest after "Screaming for Vengeance", my tastes were changing and I stopped following them after that album. But, it is always interesting to hear a true fans perspective on iconic bands.
Thanks Eric!
You know when I look at my Priest collection, my first thoughts when I see Nostradumbass is not how bad it is but how much enjoyment Pete and Chris riffin on it has given me! ;)
Great show yes Iron madien show please.🤘 stained class and sad wings are my favorites debut, and ram it down are lest favorites. Wild card is firepower🤘
Good show from the UK 🇬🇧 🇺🇲 so funny how we all see JP, but what a brilliant band are!
I would ABSOLUTELY want to see you guys tackle Iron Maiden with this format!
Iron Maiden is always appreciated! Can't wait for that one. The upcoming Rant is absolutely necessary. I've had to turn down invitations to around a dozen or so concerts recently over issues with the venues.
I'll be intrigued to read what they are 👍
Love this format yes Iron Maiden would be great and very interesting 👍🏾.
I did enjoy a Guiness Extra Stout with 2 shots of Jameson while you fellows had your libations. I do like this format. Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Kiss to name a few you could try.
I don't know if all three are fans of Marillion, although that is an entertainingly divisive discography. Terrific show!
Great funny show as always agree with you on the best and worst albums and as a massive Maiden fan would like to see you do the same thing for Maiden.
Good concept. Keep it up,gents. That's all.
I love this show, Simon and Steven a delightful! Absolutely do Iron Maiden!
Iron Maiden sounds really great! I'm all for it!🤘😎😷
Would love to see you do one for Iron Maiden, one for AC/DC and one for Slayer. I think there would be a lot of different albums put different places. Thanks for the show. Have really begun to look forward to seeing the three of you weekly
Thanks for the suggestions Russell!
17:20 Simon's "These people are 300 years old..." put me in a choking fit. A timely reminder to not watch these while eating lunch. Great stuff, gents. And yes, a vote for a similar episode on Maiden.. I'm keen to see where Senjutsu sits...
This is so difficult.
Would go Stained Class and wooh tight Painkiller and or Sad Wings of Destiny could flip anytime 😊.
Such a great legacy band 👏, I think Priest are one of those bands who know what they are doing.
Love you Pete !!!!!!!!!!!
Just listened to Firepower today. Excellent record!
Great format lads -very enjoyable-How about Motorhead?-20 plus albums to get stuck into -Cheers- (Davey 'still trapped in Thailand' Kell ) x
Great choices Pete! I was thinking none of you would choose the best album of all time (Sad Wings of Destiny). My choices for best albums would be that one and Sin After Sin, although Painkiller, Screaming, Defenders and Stained Class are not far behind.
What a brilliant episode, would be cool to revisit this concept, like the introduction of the wildcard album, as I'm watching during the afternoon no beer in the go, but would of opened up one of my Trooper ales.
Thanks Stephen. Great to know you like this format. Trooper is a fine ale!
@@TranquilityFireReid I like the idea of the wildcard album, an opportunity to highlight a maybe overlooked but good album, yes Trooper is fine, quite liked the Sun and Steel beer too.
@@stephennorris2524 I haven't tasted Sun and Steel yet. I'll need to get that sorted!
@@TranquilityFireReid You will, it's refreshing, as far as the topic goes my favourite 2 are British Steel & Killing Machine ( the albums that Introduced me to JP, least faves Nostradamus and Rocka Rolla can't comment on the Ripper ones as haven't heard them, w/c Sin after Sin, could definitely see this format work for other bands like Maiden/Saxon/UFO for example, btw have you heard the new FM album?
@@stephennorris2524 Excellent choices Stephen.
Crikey. No I haven't heard the new FM. I'll need to fix that pronto! Thanks for the reminder.
Excelent show. Hope the Iron Maiden: favorite & least show come soon...
Concert restrictions etc sounds great 👍🏾
I’m in PETE. This format. Definitely. I’ll like to see Iron MAIDEN etc. 👍⭐️💯. Great show. And great chat with all
Thanks Gary!
Another great show. 1st got into Priest with Killing Machine & British Steel & they remain my favourite albums. Others I love are Point of Entry, Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller & Firepower. Least favourite are the 2 Ripper Owen albums. I’m really confused by Turbo. I don’t dislike it but I struggle with it as I don’t think the songs (which I don’t mind) suit Halford’s voice and it sounds to me like he’s struggling.
Defenders of the Faith was always my favorite. Sin after Sin probably comes in second. Honestly, it wouldn't be fair for me to pick a least fav, because I haven't followed much of the band's material past the early '90s; I'll rectify that one of these days.
Great episode, guys - the only thing missing was Chris Alo, especially for the 'least favorite' pick. 😜
Defenders of the Faith is an excellent album, start to finish. Not a weak track in the lot. It was less commercial than Screaming, and a whole lot more cohesive. The Sentinel is a highlight.
To be totally honest and fair, I find DotF overall a lot more commercial than SfV, which was already quite commercial in itself. Compared to say Stained Class, their '80s output was all extremely commercial. We tend to gloss over sometimes, that metal can be that but Priest by this point had long been a commercial sounding metal band, way more than say Maiden or Motorhead (who wasn't even a metal band to begin with). "The Sentinel" along with "Freewheel Burning" are (like "Screaming for Vengeance") all top notch classic metal songs, most everything else though (along with a rather dire production) really is bordering on 'poppy' in actuality. I think they're basically (dare I say) melodic pop songs given a heavied up sound, i.e. they were definitely trying to get on the radio and MTV still with this album. There's nothing wrong with that of course it's how the times were, only stating a few musical structural statistics.
@@TheTVisions There's a lot of truth in what you've said TTV. And that's probably one of the reasons why I like them so much.
Thanks for the support Knight Vision!
That's a very good format , eith the wild card 😜 👏 😉.
Looking forward to the Iron Maiden one in a few weeks chaps
Here's the Priest TV appearance that Simon was talking about: ua-cam.com/video/vx5rJvRpAfE/v-deo.html
JP is one of those bands (like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin) where my favorite album and their "best" album (IMO) are different.
My favorite Priest album in "Screaming for Vengeance". Right album at the right time for me (just outta high school) and it's the album that finally pushed me firmly into the JP camp. However, I think their "best" album....intangibles aside.....is "Stained Class". Simply a sonic metal masterpiece.
There isn't really a JP album that I dislike. Maybe "Nostradamus" doesn't really light me up, but other than that I have no complaints (I'm not counting the 2 Ripper albums in this exercise).
BTW, I love "Turbo".
Iron Maiden would be cool! Thanks for a fun show!
Agree Point of Entry would be my wild card.
Great show idea, do Maiden next!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Was at the Apollo too for the Angel of Retribution tour and the Scorpions were terrific as were the Priest but oh hell was that really 17 years ago , that's really upset me 😯
