Al Di Meola is great! I'd like to find that album! I have a couple albums by Shadowfax on the Windham hill label. I like their new age stuff too. Great video! You had a few in there I haven't heard of.
One of my favs from your list is Jeff Beck, he has funk, soul, rock, jazz, blues, all the sounds I love Prog 🙂 Pat Metheny had a sexy grove especially their track Are You Going With Me. My husband likes Stuart Hamm, He is a Bassist. Nice selection
Great topic! Have around 600 lps, and over half of them are fusion! Missed many Rock concerts because I was at Fusion concerts!! Jeff Lorber Fusion, Hiroshima, Yellowjackets, Wayne Johnson Trio, Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays solo concert, Azymuth, Fourplay, Larsen-Feiten Band, etc.etc. Many of these groups I checked out more than once. Thanks for your awesome selections/recommendations!Time to go shopping!!
As a huge Fusion fan I stumbled across your channel today and I agree with some of your choices and understand that we all have different taste. The thing that shocked me the most 😱 was there was not one Weather Report album not one. I can't fathom a Fusion fan not have a Weather Report album in there top 30🙄, just my opinion.
@@northcarolinavinylpicker I would have to say that Mysterious Traveler is still my favorite. I love the Jaco era and had the chance of seeing them live when I lived in NYC over a dozen times but the band seemed to be more about what will Jaco do. I had to smile when you showed Hymn Of The Seventh and Al Di Mela. I saw Al when he joined that band for his first ever gig. I never saw a musician so nervous, he was actually had a music stand set up in front of him. I got a lot of NYC Fusion Jazz stories I could tell and the thing is still love the genre.
Nice picks. I had Watercourse Way on vinyl for the longest time until I moved and got rid of all my records. ' Shadowfax certainly took a turn toward a more commercial sound after that one. And, Brand X was indeed an excellent showcase for the phenomenal drumming of Phil Collins.
New subscriber today, Bill Evans sax my fav, have you heard Robben Ford and Bill do "Don't Let the Sun Catch you Crying" ? Looking forward to your shows. I have so much gratitude for you all who do videos on GREAT music. tysvm So glad I found you here.
"Emergency" is not Tony Williams's first solo record or record as leader. He made two records under his own name while he was with Miles Davis; "Life Time" and "Spring" in 1964 and '65 respectively. "Emergency" is actually his third record as a leader.
@@northcarolinavinylpicker Lol!!! I had to do the same when Teaser was first released. Hated Deep Purple was a Joe Walsh/James Gang fan hated Tommy for replacing Joe & joining Deep Purple. Well, got some of mom's Q-tips cleaned my ears and then I my 18 year old ears could hear. Truly great loss to music Tommy was.
Digging your selections. Eleventh House and Mahavishnu. Classic seventies fusion~
