    Hey y’all!! I filmed this video in 2018!! This is super old but I wanted to show y’all how I used to do my buns... it’s still similar but like this and comment if you want me to do an updated one! My hair is WAY thicker/longer now so the outcome is quite different lol. Enjoy!!

      Hey! I know I’m a bit late but I had a similar concern of yours with the hair being to long for the standard bun former. You diy customize your own bun former with old stockings and long socks! So for stockings I like to use the thick-ish ones and I just used old ones from early childhood (I’m still pretty young, teenager here lol). Anyways I cut the toe part and cut the most upper part of the leg of the stocking 🦵🏾 b/c you won’t need the part where you would regularly have your body from the upper thigh and higher. Now you have a long tube and you begin rolling the stocking tube from the part you cut the toe-part off (you can do it inward or outward, go with your gut..however I like to turn the stocking inside out and roll inwards in upward motion). Now you have a small donut and you can achieve a thick bun holder by ofc adding more socks/stockings. Btw I think that by how much you cut off the toe part can help you achieve how large in width of the donut hole.
      Hope that anyone who tries this and finds it helpful!!!👐🏾🤙🏾 I tried my best lol

    Relaxed or type 4a or less don’t understand the huge achievement of getting an afro into a slick bun😩 that struggle is real but so worth it!! This was my every single day hairstyle for almost 2 years and I got compliments all the time... way more than when I wear twist outs or blow outs

  • @estherbeamsforaballad3342
    @estherbeamsforaballad3342 3 роки тому +6

    I've also noticed a lot of the outcome is dependent on technique sometimes even more than product...and I love *your* technique. It's logical. From the barrier of moisture (and oil) in between the hair and the gel, brushing of the moisture into the hair after the leave-in conditioner stage, not gelling the back 👌and the use of the two separate gels for separate purposes according to hair area. It's all so well thought out. Makes for sustainable health after the look of the style is gone. Beautiful 🦋

    Can we stop being concerned with slicking down our edges? We don't always need to emulate mixed chics. 4c hair is just fine even if it never slicks down. We don't need to prove anything to anyone.

    I can’t believe this is a “thing?!” I used to wear a “sleek bun” 20+ years ago….That “style”(a ponytail is not a style per say, as far as I’m concerned🤷🏾‍♀️) got more compliments than any other style I used to rock!
    I used Ampro Pro Style gel; “the Black Gel” on damp to wet hair. My hair is thick enough that I would part, gel, part, gel….Repeat that all the way to the back.
    Band it into a pony, and then tie it down to dry. Basically the same thing I see lots of women who sport this style do. Never could I have imagined this would become an actual “style” worthy of a tutorial🤯
    Yours is Cute though!👍🏾
