the hair typing system is SO annoying and so flawed. 🙄 4c does not mean no curl pattern. it does not mean no definition. it does not mean dry and frizzy. and the longer your hair gets, the more the curls stretch. period. that's the conversation.
ikr its soooo annoying because 2 people who claim to be 4c could have 2 different densities and shine and silkiness etc . hair is a spectrum and not everyone can place themselves into the same boxes.

Different hair on different heads reacts differently. You can't really judge by what you see in a camera and go off of yourself for a guideline.

Yessss 🤩 I do something similar to define my 4c hair and it looks like that the only thing is, is that it shrinks up and makes my hair look shorter so I’m waiting for my hair to grow longer.

4c will always tend to shrink as soon as it has any moisture. 4c also clumps up and shrinks together so you won't get single-looking curly strands like in this video. 4b & 4a will usually have less clumping than 4c and their curls and coils more defined with less shrinkage because the hair doesn't clump up together as much 4c does. Please don't be discouraged,🌺🌺🌼 there are beautiful hair styling tutorials for real 4c, you have to look out for the clumping and shrinkage to know it will turn out the same on your hair😉😘

xiomara Sylvain regalá ummm no. I have 4c hair and never used heat on my hair (not even a blow dryer). There is no “heat training”. Her 4c hair is just finer sizes it’s easier to see the individual curl pattern once she uses a lot of gel. When I first went natural, my short hair was “thick” with no curl pattern. Several years later once I learned how to define my curls, it just seemed thinner.

LUNA she is a 4c .1.she has long hair that’s weights the hair down.2.she probably has low porosity that’s why it takes her so much time to get moisture in her hair .3. she has gel in her hair and the coils are still very small that doesn’t happen with 4a/4b hair . 4.when i put gel in my 4a hair the girls clump up much bigger then hairs so yes she is a true 4c.

for everyone saying she doesn't have 4c hair, she does. when you wear styles like puffs and stuff, it stretches/loosens up the back of your hair over time. the same thing happens when you do slick bangs and twists in the front of your head.

so beautiful! Hair and face :) I was so ready to come like "this ain't 4c cos I've got 4c hair and it's not like that" BUT I think that what separates this hair from other "typical" looking 4c hair is that it is less dense (as in the strands itself, nothing to do with how thick her hair is overall cos it is) which would mean that it clumps together better with product. My hair does this with the bentonite clay mixture especially when dried, but my own hair would laugh at me if I put gel in it. I think we need to create a 4D category out here for real tho cos my 5Z head ain't playin!

I discovered that technique by accident a few days ago haha my hair was in a stretched twists and I had to re-moisturize it, I just sprayed my liquid on it and it started reverting just enough to form a 4b curl pattern and not all the way to the 4C and shrink to my scalp, but I'm really too lazy to take all this time to define them so imma embrace my kikiness haha❤️ you and those curls look absolutely gorgeous

The curls are too small to be 4b. She probably has low porosity hair. High porosity hair in any curl pattern looks dry and has a hard time defining. She is also taking a lot of time with her hair. I’ve seen other 4c people do a wash and go, they rarely use gel because they think it’ll try their hair or it’ll make residue. But when they do, they have very small ringlets. Also, the more you wear wash and gos the more “trained” it becomes to being that way. He hair is also long and has weight to it. That in itself stretches the curl, plus the weight of the gel

No girl, high porosity hair sucks up moisture and defines easily, low porosity hair is dry because it doesn’t take in moisture easily
Tayglo Tv actually it’s more complex. High porosity easily accepts moisture but struggles to HOLD It. Low po struggles to accept it but HOLDS it longer once it does
Tayglo Tv I know. Hair DULLNESS has nothing to do with moisture. There’s a difference between dryness and dullness. However even to that point low po is still more likely to hold shine as products (especially heavy ones) are more likely to sit on the hair strands of low po than high po. I don’t mean to argue I just didn’t want any one with low po thinking having drier or lesser defined hair is a norm. Both types have capabilities to stay moisturized and defined
Again I want to emphasize dullness and moisture r not related at all. There r shiny moisturizing products yes but for example hair grease (a sealant) leaves ur hair shiny for a long time but ur hair may be hella dry underneath.

I’m so confused from the comments, do people realize not all 4c hair is the same it is very common to have more than one hair pattern in your hair. Technique, Patience, and multiple hair pattern can make a Illusion of lots definition🤔 This UA-cam anyway you have to take everything with a grain of salt people, everyone hair is Unique to them at the end of the day 🤷🏾♀️

Everyone saying her hair is not 4c just because of the misconception that 4c automatically = thick , coarse and “unmanageable”. Please understand that your 4c hair won’t look the same as someone else’s . The hair typing chart is flawed and toxic. You can have the same curl pattern but different porosity, density, strand diameter, sebum, and texture. So having a curl pattern in common is only a small factor. That’s why when searching for UA-cam videos especially routine related I search for them based on porosity, density and sebum, not based on the stupid hair chart.
