what i love about the exorcist stuff is that demons that posses can snap necks, levitate, throw shit across the room without touching them but they just can't get out of bed.
Demons are basically lazy.
sleeping on brimstone and ashes on a regular basis will do that to you...
Not true. They can levitate off the bed as well.
I think they do that just to play around. I've seen demonic possession movies where they go ape shit on everyone.
I'm talking running around. Sticking to ceilings and walls and lunging at the people trying to help them. Oh and let's not forget the classic ragdolling they do to these people.
The inhuman strength is why I love these movies. Bc you can see a ninety pound boy girl straight up body someone twice their weight like it's nothing
Hilarious! Good point lol.
For Russell Crowe to be in an exorcist movie, means that the script was worth it

Saw it with my husband last night and had similar comments. As a Catholic, it's nice to have a depiction of a priest who's faithful, likeable and charming. I think this movie shows the power a world class actor has to elevate an otherwise average film. Russel Crowe made this movie so enjoyable. Nothing felt offensive or preachy. At the end of the day, it was just good old fashioned Hollywood entertainment. The other compliment I would give is to the camera work. There was something about the angles and movement that felt good.
Catholics are generally frauds
I mean, it's a movie. The real Gabriele Amorth was a real weirdo. Even by Catholics standards.
There is nothing Preachy about the word of God.
This is not Gods despiction but the Devil himself in this movie. Hollywood is Evil.
Roman Catholics and Christians shouldn’t be watching these movies they mock God
@@antoniousai1989 umm...no he wasnt. lol.
St. Padre Pio took him in as a spiritual child. And if you know nothing about Padre Pio then you should hold your itching desires to trashtalk a priest hated by the diabolic and loved by God.
Just finished watching the movie! 10/ 10. I recommend that everyone watch it. Russell Crowe and the rest of the cast nailed their roles perfectly!👌🏽

do you as well hope for a sequel?
Russel's ability goes far beyond, the hundreds of billion's in gold that reaches no true knights, he has the silent sword of the hunter, and the patience of pause, from the true lights, darkness!
Man this movie was bad
this is so boring not scary i don't know why you rate this a 10.
"If you have a problem with me, you talk to my boss, the pope" Russel Crowe with his acting experience will take that role to another level. To watch definitely.
the boss is JESUS...not the goshdarn pope
_[ Jesus said ] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? _*_and in thy name have cast out devils?_*_ and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity._
Matthew 7:21-23
That's a badass line.

My son auditioned for the part of the possessed boy. Not only does he look a bit like the one who was cast, but he also behaves exactly like the character at home! He would have been perfect!

He's only a boy, he'll keep getting better and follow much better roles. Keep working!

I am glad your son is a talented actor but this topic messes with things that shouldn't be messed with. It was in your son's best interest not to get this part. Jesus was clear the devil has 3 agendas - to lie, steal, and kill. Your son at no point should want anything to do with this type of evil.
Man! This is hands down the best horror movie I’ve ever watched. No cheesy jump scares, dialogue and stupid characters. Movie was very well done, kept you engaged and into it. For Russel Crowe to have an authentic Italian accent, speak Italian very well and everything else that went into the acting and supporting actors shows a lot.
Father Gabriel Amorth was a real life exorcist, he performed thousands of exorcisms during his life and died in 2016 at the age of 91. He wrote two books, his memoirs. Not sure if this film is based on those books or even if this film is Vatican approved. I hope Hollywood has treated this good Priest's life's work with the respect and reverence it deserves.
I was just reading about him a couple days ago, I'm pretty sure he exorcized Lucifer himself!
Thank you for the reference to Father Amorth

Father amorth was disciple of st. Pio of pietrelcina. It's said that he was present in spirit in his exorcisms..

I know everyone pays their tribute to the amazing work Russel Crowe did with this move, I mean he made the whole move actually whit the personality he gave to the priest, but let’s also appreciate this little boy who played the demon! I don’t know how so young little boy managed to pull out this role! He was amazing too❤
The little boy really is amazing. He is a karate black belt instructor in his private life.

That's what I was gonna say as well. People need to recognize the boy's talent too!
Absolutely loved this movie. I didn't watch any trailers or read anything about it prior to watching it, I went to the theater one day, saw a poster with Russel Crowe as an exorcist and said "say no more". I went in hoping for a fun exorcist movie, and that's exactly what I got!
@@lpcca6639 no, I wouldn't say it was particularly scary, I would describe it more as jarring and unsettling, but then again that's subjective. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and it has more of a rapid pace as opposed to the more slow burn feel movies of this genre tend to have.
@Stephanie Slayer nope, is that also a fun exorcism movie? Hadn't heard of it till now

I was pleasantly surprised how good this was. Even more so with the way it ended teasing that there could be more to come.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE it’s VERY good and not too gory and it’s based off a book. The best part is this exorcism actually happened. It was based off a book and Father Gabriel Amorth was an actual exorcist. I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be a part 2 because there’s two books and there’s different places around the world with this problem.
I'm pretty sure Hollywood Hollywoodized it as they often do. I highly doubt the last 20 minutes of the movie occurred as Amorth described it in his book.
I love it when seasoned actors star in movies about the supernatural…Anthony Hopkins was the best thing about the movie The Rite and I personally feel that Russell will deliver the same exact stellar performance in this movie. I’m there!
He was so good in that! Granted he's fantastic anyway but he made what would've probably been an average film into an actually decent horror 😁
This is what happens when seasoned actors get cleaned out after a divorce lmao.
I've really missed movies like these. I thought they stopped doing these like 10 years ago, glad to see I'm mistaken

Its really cool to see Russell Crowe in these different roles, especially now that he is older, it definitely suits him!
I like how he is still using his Zeus voice
I knew Russell Crowe since the movie Gladiator, that was like 20 years ago? I dont think he aged a bit, still that old fashion kinda tough and gentle mix in a way.
The demon kid actor is giving major 1st Harry Potter movie child actor vibes.....
The first Exorcist was SO INCREDIBLE because of the amazingly talented actors . Linda was young but very talented. It makes a big difference.
This is a great movie, I highly recommend it Russell Crowe was amazing in it. The little boy in it was amazing as well!! 10/10
I read one of Fr. Amorth's books. He's very upbeat, positive and sounds like a fun person. Even though he was dealing with absolute horror he had no doubt that God had his back, he was almost completely fearless. These movies exaggerate typical exorcisms but there are usually 1 or 2 that are particularly nasty. The church has gotten very good at preventing exorcisms from getting out of control. They've had 2,000 years to know what to do and what not to do. They are careful to rule out mental illness as well. I mean who wants to waste time doing an exorcism ritual on someone who isn't possessed?
who wants to waste their time doing one in the first place. ooga booga it aint real
@@keller8821 Exorcism works as well as you believe it will. Have you ever seen the movie The Skeleton Key? At the end in the attic/ritual room, Kate Hudson's character puts herself inside of a protective circle, believing it will keep her safe even though she's always thought voodoo was bs, then the priest and priestess told her what she didn't know was that once she entered the circle, she couldn't leave it. She continually shouted "I don't believe!" As she was told it could only hurt her if she believed it could, yet she falls victim to the ritual because had she truly not believed, she would have just stepped out of the circle and been saved.
@@allisonhunter1063 what do you mean..."believe it will?" Have you done an exorcism before on someone else? No. Because laymen do not have authority over the body of other laymen...only those ordainted with holy orders (priests, bishops, cardinals).
You can only bind demons from yourself, and your immediated family members (parents, children, or siblings only...not cousins, uncles, grandparents, aunts...and definitely not other people not related by blood).
@@ludwigvanbeethoven8164 Actually, I have. It was crude, yes, but it was an emergency and we could not wait for the Catholic Church to ACTUALLY get involved. Also, they may not have been willing to help my friends husband as we were ghost hunting and using a Ouija Board to communicate with unknown spirits in a place where supposedly a serial killer brought his victims ("In order to be old and wise, one must first be young and stupid.") When we were at the location, we noticed J acting strange, out of character, but his wife and I, who did that stuff all the time, just thought maybe J was scared, So we left after some pretty terrifying things happened that we could not account for. Before I thought he was possessed, I was going to drop them off and go home to go to bed myself, but I hugged H and J, while I was wearing a silver cross pendant on my necklace, which sat in the center of my upper chest, H gave me a hug, thanked me for hanging out with them, and J came to hug me too, and he pulled back as if something had bitten him, he had a burn on his chest in the shape of my cross necklace, UNDERNEATH HIS SHIRT, and the shirt was undamaged. After he pulled away from me, I looked at J, and saw a face that was not his. H, my friend and Js wife, saw it too, and she screamed. J became very aggresive, and J is a Catholic, H and I are not. I asked H if she wanted me to essentially force anything off of J if I could, she said yes. so I brought out my emergency kit for things of that nature. We created a salt circle, I brought out Holy objects (things that normally J would have clung to for comfort in those moments, only made him wilder, angrier, and lost more control), We began to pray, I pulled out the Rites of Exorcism and began to read them whilst putting holy water on all 3 of us to keep any invading spirits out of all 3 of us so it couldn't seek shelter in H or me, as some entities will do in the event of an exorcism when they feel threatened. Luckily, I was able to reach a lucid part of J and he responded and we were able to get him to fight from the inside and tell the invading entities that they were not welcome and must leave.
I'm not totally sure where you heard that ONLY Catholic Priests are "allowed" to perform exorcisms... but they happen all over the world, just like I had to do on J. Luckily, we had gone out on a Saturday night, and Sunday morning Mass was only a few hours away, had I not been able to help J, we would have driven him straight to the closest Catholic Church, my city has a few big very beautiful Catholic churches and we were in the middle of 2 of the biggest ones. St. Mary's and Notre Dame. The next morning at Mass, J was pulled aside by the Priest personally, who prayed over him and H and told him that perhaps nexttime we should rethink our dangerous nocturnal adventures. He saw something still lingering trying to hang onto J and wait for a moment to slip in, and the Priest removed it using prayer, holy water, and anointed J with Holy Oil.
Now, what do I mean by "an exorcism will only work as well as you believe it will"...
J is catholic, the type of Exorcism rite I used was the Catholic Rites. Spirits, entities and demons aren't like allergic to one specific type of prayer, It doesn't make a ton of difference to the demon which religious texts you use, its about the belief in those words working which drives out the demons, your beliefs your convictions, the demon won't go if you don't want it to, despite what an exorcist tells the demon to do. The demon is affected by the beliefs of their host, and if the host believes that a specific prayer will work, the believer also fights from within and drives the demon out through force, like an eviction. It wouldn't do your landlord much good to try to evict you with a notice written in a language you can't understand, would it? As long as the person feels the right feelings, the demons will go.
I know this sounds like the ravings of a lunatic, but I can assure you with 100% honesty, that this event did happen, we didn't know possession was real this way either until we were there to see it first hand.
When you see someone's facial features distort to something inhuman right in front of your eyes, you'll be willing to believe anything that will help you stay safe.
And before its asked, none of us have schizophrenia, or any other conditions that make hallucinate.

most concise definition of God in Islam is given in s four verses of Surah Al Ikhlaas, which is Chapter 112 of the Qur’an:
“Say: He is Allah, The One and Only.
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
He begets not, nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.”
[Al-Qur’an 112:1-4]
The word ‘Al Samad’ is difficult to translate. It means ‘absolute existence,’ which can be attributed only to Allah (swt), all other existence being temporal or conditional. It also means that Allah (swt) is not dependant on any person or thing, but all persons and things are dependant on Him.

Before I became Christian I lived alone in an apartment. Was dating an unchristian person, life going no where. A young woman was murdered behind my apt. complex. Not long after I had an experience with night paralysis and woke up to this darkness with eyes watching me I could not move. This was so frightening I slept in the living room with the lights on. Then started sleeping at my partners house and did not want to go to my apartment. The relationship was empty, broken, but still I did not want to go to my apartment. Shortly after I did break up and went out and met this other person who ended up taking me to church, and I converted to Christianity. After that... no darkness forms against me. I am a child of the most high God. Evil can only go where it is directly or indirectly invited.
It's a surprisingly high number of people experience just that, the feeling of being watched and waking up not able to move. It many times are told in relation to alien abduction or visitation. But it is a normal state explained by doctors and shrinks as normal anxiety and insecurity and when waking up in the middle of the night the body have not yet come out of its sleep and you feel unable to move. As soon as you feel safe, as a child you have a stuffed animal and later your parents nearby, but as you get older and don't trust your partner or have none, then anxiety get to you and you feel unsafe and wake up at night. Anything that comforts you will help, sometimes a strong belief in a religion helps, that there are someone out there to protect you, or a partner you can rely on. My problem are the opposite, I dream that I have to achieve something, like jumping real high or kick a football into goal, and I fail a few times and then I really give it my all and then wake up and I have thrown myself out of bed and find myself on the floor with my head under the night table. So the opposite from being paralyzed.
I will never get tired of these Possession or Exorcist films.
In fact they make up a good chunk of my horror film DVD collection.

@@iipixel8607 don't know about the commenter, but in my opinion that is possible for sure. one can believe in demons, the supernatural and even believe in god without being religious. those are two different things. being religious means believing in a specific kind of religion, believing a specific story and having a specific belief about those supernatural beings. and those beliefs differ from religion to religion. with your logic if one is religious, he or she must believe in every religion.
Russell Crowe, whatever movie he will do I will watch it. He has been one of the best film actors of the last 30 years.
🙄
No
This movie is actually one of my favourites now, and Russell Crowe is amazing!
I'm ready for part 2
Was in the cinema and loved it ♡
❤
He’s the only actor left who can get me into a movie theater. Will definitely see it.
Tom Cruise and John Wick too!
What a sad life you got then
@A Right lmao I'm in the theater a couple times a month if there's good releases I wanna see. Nothing beats seeing a movie the first time in the theater. Just say John Wick 4 and it was sick.
@@bruceli9094 *Keanu Reeves you mean
But, but…but whatta bout Tom Cruise
I will watch this for sure. Russell is one of my favourite actor. Not gonna miss on it
I'm sorry but whoever came up with that scene with The holy mother... My hat is off to you, that was beautifully done. I was a bit sceptical if it'd be interesting since half of these types of films are the same but it looks pretty good, the mystery is also there so I'm in.
Everytime I watch excorcist movie it increase my faith to Lord Jesus, sometime when the scene was creapy I scream 'Jesus oh Lord please help' and it spontaneous, always like that👌
Gabriele Pietro Amorth (Modena, 1 May 1925 - Rome, 16 September 2016) was an Italian priest and writer, exorcist of the diocese of Rome.
In 2017 is released a documentary directed by the well-known director William Friedkin of the film The Exorcist, which narrates the ninth exorcism of an Italian woman in the city of Venafro called "Cristina". It was one of the most terrible exorcisms ever done.
😮 I must look for that documentary. Another commenter said his book was really good as well. Or a book about him? Not sure which 😊
@@Sufferingsassafrass The name of the documentary is "The Devil and Father Amorth"
In Italy we know Father Amorth for several very questionable positions, and for how he spoke of the devil, a guest in many broadcasts, he wrote many works, one of the best:
"I met Satan" The battle of the most authoritative living exorcist, edited by don Sławomir Sznurkowski, Milan, Piemme Incontri, 2016.
Have a nice day ;)
Not typically into exorcism films but I’ll watch it as Russell Crowe is in it !! 👍🏼
I remember going to see Linda Blair in "The Exorcist" back in the 1970's and for its time, was one of the most scariest movies made. Now, people are so accustomed to the gore and movie technology that most of them are unfazed by it. All I know is that if you believe in good, you must believe in evil. It should not be taken lightly or mocked.
I just watched Pope's exorcist on Netflix.
Really good and worth the watch.
This really has the feel of a mystery behind the horror which I love. And Russel like plays the veteran detective. This is based on a real man where he performed about 10,000 exorcists. Russel got to know the people The exorcist worked with and he said you can tell that these people truly believe they had these experiences whether you believe in it or not. I personally have had demons whisper to me vile things in a different language but I understood what they were getting at during a sleep paralysis episode. After that there’s no doubt in my mind these entities exist and when I prayed to Jesus I haven’t had an episode since. There are countless stories like mine. Look up the asbury revival exorcism and listen to the scream that comes out of the ladies mouth. It’s authentic footage. Hundreds of people were there. Evil absolutely does exist and is not subjective.
well.... about religious people and MATH - i think because it is a part of science, they dont care about numbers...
In October 2000, it was reported that Gabriele Amorth had performed over 50,000 exorcisms (which ranged from "a few minutes" to "several hours" in length). In March 2010, he said that the number had increased to 70,000. By May 2013, he said he had performed 160,000 exorcisms in the course of his ministry.
Gabriele Amorth was a diocesan exorcist for Rome, over a span of about 25 years.
IF we, calculate 160 000 divided with those 25 years
that brings us 6400 exorcist-rituals each year.
6400 divided with 365 - so we get how many each day
= 17,53 -> 18 each day - to make it more easy...
"A few minutes to several hours" --- lets assume 30 minutes
so, 18 rituals each day, every day, non-stop during 25 years....
those 18 rituals times 30 minutes become 9 hours each day
that is UNlikely...
@@haerdy1337 98% he did it online with 10000 people. Try google.
@@haerdy1337 I can agreed with you if you count it each day of rituals,
But there's another possessed episode that I encounter during my day at boarding school, it only a few girls who were possessed and the rituals is very tiring day and night, I would says is probably a breakdown from mental illness that caused hysteria to other girls, they have Dr and nurse who will come to check their health and even 24H of cares with separate housing, but it still happening.
Our teachers (exorcist) almost give up during some of the rituals, I usually will peak and watch, and that's when I heard the girl speak in different voice and very unnatural emotion.
I believe you 100% at 55 years old I still go through sleep paralysis, the most scariest thing i ever experience, saying in the blood of Jesus use to work when I was young but now it seems to just piss them off even more, putting a bowl of water under my bed works, for some reason they can't cross water. I haven't done the water in years cause I'm curious to know what they want from me. the things I have been through, the things I have seen and the places i have gone to, would make ONE HELL OF A MOVIE, thank you for sharing
The movie is based on a real person, but is sensationalized and a fake story/plot. I’ll still watch but take it as entertainment and not the actual life of Father Amorth
I read 3 of Father Amorth books and he is the real deal. He went through a lot of shit with all those exorcisms battling satan. His books are amazing and I would highly recommend that you read them before you watch the movie. The movie is going to give you a lot of Hollywood hype.
absurd. what an absolutely absurd comment to make as an adult in 2023.

This message of this movie is so powerful. Not just a horror movie tbh.
Went to see this great movie yesterday. Many similar things with ''The Rite'' starring Anthony Hopkins. Did a great job and hope they'll unveiled more stories as they've mentioned at the end of it.
Russell Crowe is one of the few actors that always remains to get epic roles big fan
I got chills when he said “My faith does not require defense.” This movie is going to be a masterpiece.
He gave the word faith, a whole new meaning.....
Yeah it does.
sorry, no. it looks terrible. cliches all over the place. the kid looks ridiculous.
Easily impressed then
@idrinkmilk282 coming from a screen name like yours. Haha ok
I loved the movie; well put out story, timelines, mystery, and word play, also the horror. This would've outdo Sam Raimi's The Unholy.
Loved this movie. Rather than throwing in many jump scares, the team pulled of the horror by getting nasty and disturbing which was good to watch. Would recommend this movie 9/10
I freaking love paranormal horror films! Russell Crowe has my support! Excellent actor!
This looks so good. It has the vibes of a thriller/paranormal thing and not an horror movie.
agree. cause i hate horror movies but this one seems ok !
uhhh, are your eyes working? you would actually pay to watch that trash?
Agreed, plus I love the Vatican themes and Holy See.
Dude this is really scary horror thriller. It's the story lines plot. 🙏❤🙏❤🎬📽
Bro your majorly tripping this shit looks like a old 2000s movie 🤦🏻♂️
This movie far exceeded my expectations I will buy this movie RUSSELL CROWE was amazing as Father Gabrielle as were all cast members this movie has heart and soul and funny I can totally imagine Gabrielle was just as RUSSELL CROWE portrayed him its scary as well this is a Phenomenal movie
Hello Theresa V Jamison
I just finished watching this. It exceeded much more of my expectations than I expected.
Yes. We need more movies on such topics. At least near accurate to depicting the situations surrouning possessions or exorcisms
real ones aren't actually very exciting
"near accurate" kinda hard to do when "real" ones aren't real. Nobody is getting possessed by demons lmao.
@@davidreneau8212 There are no 'real' ones. Religious mumbo jumbo
Looks like they went over the top here again unfortunately.
“What we do in life…..echoes in eternity.” - Maximus
1 year old!
This was definitely worth the wait
Trauma can be a gateway for possession, suffering can become evil's strength, our sins can be forgiven but we must forgive ourselves too, to die in a war is heroic but to survive is complex
The film comes in and does a serviceable job
The best stuff with this demon's powers only happens at the very end
Crowe isn't bad here either and the tragedies in his life add to the experience as a priest
Yet this could've stood out a bit more
Depth or authenticity isn't the movie's strong suit but it is a watchable religious horror entry but you'll forget about it afterwards
I’m a not a fan of horror type films but I love the supernatural stuff. And it seems to go into the route of also being action type film of Russel Crowe fighting demons with the Bible… I’m in😂
lololol
Underated comment this needs more upvotes
I’m Catholic myself. What Father Amorth fought is very real.
None of these 10/10 rating comments hyperbolizing their experience with this movie will convince me that this is worth a watch.
You know what this film is like? It's the DaVinci Code filtered through a literal interpretation of The Exorcist. It's ridiculous and occasionally an apologist for historical atrocities committed by the Church
Father Gabriel Amorth was a true soldier for the Lord
Wait. So this guy actually existed!?
@perpetualstudent6862 passed away in 2016 age 91. RIP 🙏

The public haven't realize that some of these movies aren't just for entertainment. Possession is real.
@@ThePerpetualStudent yes. Wrote many books about his exorcisms... buy his book are very interesting
Satan's greatest trick was to convince the world he doesn't exist. Pity upon them that have fallen for it.

All of you have said enough and with justice❤ i'm just glad ending was not like a cliff hanger thingy it was smooth n just perfect
This movie was gooooood I enjoyed it not my normal thing but by far one of my favorite Russell Crowe movies ❤❤❤
I bought Father Gabriele Amorth’s book a year or two ago. I recommend it to everyone. I can’t wait to watch this movie.
Back in 2011 Father Fabriele Amorth said "he is quoted as saying that yoga is satanic because it leads to practice of Hinduism and "all eastern religions are based on a false belief in reincarnation" and "practicing yoga is satanic, it leads to evil just like reading Harry Potter."

Crowe is in the perfect role
Definitely a must watch it’s good to see a horror that looks decent enough to be scary nowadays
David Gordon Greene (Halloween 2018) is releasing his version of The Exorcist in October (also 50 years since the original.) I'm not sure what he's gonna do in his version, but I hope it breaks the trope of an already weird kid acting even weirder.
Scary???
It's so generic
I don't really get "scared" by horror movies except for jumpscares but those are cheap. what I appreciate most about horror films these days are a good atmosphere and a decent story
ok
