- Let's take a look at the new Losi Nascar RC Car. Under the hood it is an onroad grom! Is an Infraction Grom in the works? Will this be the best small onroad RC basher you can get? Let's find out!

Nascar hoods have pins. So it works
They do but modern NASCAR cars typically have four small hood pins in the front that are pretty unobtrusive. I guess you could say these look similar but I don't know.
@@DoRC The Gen7 cup cars use two on the hood and two on the decklid.
I see a Larson, a Bush, a Blaney, an Elliot, a Truex and of course a Micheal Mcdowell car. Looks like I'm getting 6 new tiny cars.
Sounds like a good collection!
@@DoRC Kinda wondering why they didn't do a 24 Byron or a 22 Logano car. Only non Champion they are doing is Mcdowell, but he is sponsored by Horizon. The market for a Dale Jr., Stewart, Johnson, Biffle, Mark Martin, etc would be huge. I know they won't do an Earnhardt Sr. as Teresa still owns the rights to the #3 likeness and would want huge money for that car.
@@AndrewSuryman I want a 22 but I went with the 12 instead
This might just be one of the most significant releases of all time. I predict a ton of new rc car fans who love nascar, what fan wouldn’t want one of these. After market parts are going to go bananas too
Yeah maybe so. As someone who isn't a big fan of NASCAR or licensed stuff in general it's hard for me to see it but that certainly doesn't mean it isn't going to happen.
Cool little car, perfect for a spec class. Price is fully justified when you consider that beautiful licensed body and adjustability, including those threaded shocks - things you WON'T see on an Arrma offering. As for the body mounts, I expect it's a little difficult to fit a clipless system on an on-road chassis and it would further add to that high cost. I'm good with the body clips.
Yeah it does seem pretty decent though I do suspect you're paying most of that extra cost for the license
3 words! Days of Thunder!
:)
HAHA! Thought the same thing! Just dropped the hammer on the pre order! My wallet said no you're not!
@@EVERYONEPOOS123 :)
Always great info! thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I REALLY WANT ONE! If they made one with Ross Chastain (my favorite driver) i will definitely get one
Not sure. They have six or seven different versions if you want to check it out they're all on horizon's site
Watermelon Man
I think it looks rad! nascar has been my childhood favorite motorsports since I was a little kid. Glad to see losi made a 1/12 nascar and I might be getting myself one!
Do it!
Arrma could do a brushless version and make it a limitless grom
That would be awesome!
I would love a brushless Felony grom.
The bodies are amazing looking. I think I'm getting one of each 😅
They do look really nice!
I want the Lucas oil #8!
Do it!
Looks fun but I won't be paying for the body. Thanks for the vid man
Yeah I can definitely understand that. If it weren't for me wanting to make a video on it and use the chassis for other purposes I wouldn't be buying one either. That being said I totally understand people who are excited about it. If you like NASCAR then this could definitely be appealing.
Pretty dang cool 👍
Definitely looks nice!
I watched the Losi representative vidio talking about this release, and yes it's a stretched grom
Yeah I wasn't sure if it was the Typhon chassis or not but someone else pointed out that the ESC is next to the servo so it's definitely longer. Can't wait to get it
I am not in the hobby, but have been interested in getting into it for a while. That said we are big NASCAR fans at our house…so this has definitely got my attention! Really thinking of putting one on pre-order and jumping in!
Well I don't think this would be the best option for actually getting into the hobby as it's probably not going to be a huge amount of fun to actually drive but it definitely will look good on the shelf :-)
Put one on order now you won't be sorry I have one on order now I believe the price will go up later 😎👍
They definitely should have done clipless, coulda been just like the typhon but like a little latch in the middle of the hood or something lol
Yeah I feel the same way. They could have hidden the latches underneath or something I get that the actual stock cars have hood pins but that's not even remotely what they look like.
Can’t wait to try this on my dirt track 😂
Should be interesting :-) thanks for watching!
Cool. I like it
Definitely a sweet looking body!
How about a kit for assembly or a roller chassis. Losi rollers in other platforms (Drag cat, Mini B) . Also Bodies that can be customized.
That would be nice but I don't think we're going to see horizon making very many kits anymore unless it's a race car
Im getting the chase Elliot design!!!! Tho when i first saw it. It did look like a Arrma grom so i questioned losi for the design!!!
Yeah they're both owned by horizon so it kind of makes sense to not make a new platform.
I’m tryin’ like hell to get a few of the guys at work to get one so we can do some spec racing after work. They seem a little underwhelming on their own but a pack might be different.
As long as you understand the limitations and the advantages I don't think this Will be underwhelming even on its own. Find a small space that you wouldn't normally be able to bash something like infraction in and let it rip :-)
A grom infraction would be nice
I would be surprised if they didn't do it since they basically already made one with this
Might consider one. Want an rc for small paved driveway racing (like 15x50ft total size). We tried to 1/10 buggy there, but even limited to 20mph it just didn't really work nicely. So something smaller like losi mini, or 1/16 traxxas were i my opinion probably the most capabel and proven chassis. But problem with most other mini's is also ground clearance, no street tires and no cool car bodies. This one looks nice, so thats a big plus, rest off specs will be interesting. No need for big power for my intended use...
Yeah that's definitely could be a good option.
I do think it’s going to be a cool car
I've got mine pre-ordered :-)
Awesome
They definitely do look sweet! Thanks for watching :-)
Where im from 1/12 is the thing cause the bigger you get, the more you pay. So guys mostly go for the 1/12 Rc cars. And at that size, the guys have them running at 50 mph
Yeah I understand that but when it's so directly comparable to other vehicles that are a lot cheaper it makes it hard to justify. Yes they did extend the chassis to achieve the 112th scale but at least from what I can tell that's basically all they did. It's not like this has a larger power system or stronger drivetrain etc It's basically exactly the same underneath the body as The other Grom cars that cost 40% less.
Is there any possible way you could show us a side by side comparison of this chassis vs the granite grom? Im curious if there is enough interchangeability between this chassis and the offroad grom. I would like to take this long chassis and make a hybrid truggy setup like they do with the 6s arrmas. I know shock tower height and shock length might be an issue, but with the longer typhon or granite arms, could you use the granite and typhon shocks as well? It would make for an amazing setup.
I don't have one yet but I have one ordered and what you want to do will be attempted :-) I have no reason to believe that these chassis aren't identical other than length and a few layout differences. I would be very surprised if basically everything didn't bolt right up to it from the other groms.
Thats what im thinking. Since this chassis has the body post option as well, it opens it up to a wide variety of options now. If you successfully truggify this into an offroad vehicle itll be exceptional. Cant wait to see it!
Them nerf bars and his wide chassis are going to be for the Senton grom
Could be!
It's not a Typhon Grom, it's much longer. Not only is the ESC/RX on the chassis, but look at the extra space in front and behind the battery. Licensing and bigger car would justify the extra $. This ting looks sweet.
It's pretty much a typhon grom. It does have a slightly longer chassis but I don't think that an extra half inch of plastic is worth 50 bucks otherwise the typhon would have been $50 more than the granite :-) pretty sure you're paying for the licensing.
I am from Canada and will be definitely getting a #19 Truex one from my local hobby shop! I have my name on a list to get one of the first of the batch they are getting. I don't mind the price! In Canada of course our dollar sucks compared to the USD so we will be paying more!! It will be roughly $280CAD. I have wasted more on a pair of sneakers.......lol.
I'm from Toronto, it's your money !
If it makes you happy buy it,heck buy one for your friend too !
Yeah and for people who want the NASCAR theme the price just isn't going to matter. Personally things like that don't really appeal to me but I certainly understand that it would.
I'm a good friend to people :-)
Such a great design! Disappointed that it’s AWD.
You could always take the center driveshaft out.
With really strong neodym magnets being so cheap today, designing clipless should be a piece of cake, esp. for a street car.
For a basher even an on road basher I'm not sure magnets would be good enough. They have really good pull apart strength but not great sheer strength generally and so they can be knocked sideways in a crash. That being said the granite and typhon Grom both have clipless bodies so I don't see why they couldn't do it with this one. It seems like an odd bit of cheaping out on something that costs such a premium basically for the body.
@@DoRC I'm fixing the race hood of my velomobile w/ magnets, tha is much larger and heavier than a rc car and holds up to more than 40 kph easily. A combination of hinge joint and magnets should be more than sufficient for a car like this.
@NUeB_RCFPV definitely could be an interesting solution. I had a crawler with a body that was held on with magnets and it wasn't great but that's my only experience with that sort of thing in RC
@@DoRC I already got an idea I want to try out - *after* moving to my new home in may. Platform will be the to-be-retired WLtoys 124007, and I'll go bashing with it! I'll keep you updated.
I ordered all of the Chevy liveries 😀
Nice! I ordered the last one in the list because I know nothing about NASCAR but figured that would be most likely to not be ordered by a bunch of other people so hopefully I'll get one in the first batch.
Awesome. Soooo upgrade to a 3s brushless system and than add some sticky tires
Yep:)
Not a Nascar fan but I will get one for scooting around the driveway.
Yeah should be good for small spaces.
I find it odd they announced it today but won't be available until September. I'll probably forget about these.
Yeah that is quite the delay for release.
They're probably ready to bring out the infraction soon so they wanted to announce the more expensive car first
@@GemFarmer76 That does make sense.
im waiting for the arrma felony grom, vendetta grom and limitless grom, they have to release them eventually
I'm sure they'll come out with at least one of them. It would be weird if they didn't.
Going to make mine brushless immediately
I probably will too.
@@DoRCthat 6000kv 2in1 esc/motor combo dynamite and spektrum has will probably work great
@@SaltyDuck97 maybe though that's a pretty small motor and I feel like it might be overworked in this car
maybe it would good for them to have a losi team version where it is upgraded but is a roller and I've heard talk of this one coming with the steel difs front and rear as well so maybe that is why they want 179.99 for it.
I sure hope it does come with upgraded differentials. That would definitely help justify the cost.
Brushed is fir small kids or shelf queen
The other groms are pretty fun out of the box. I expect this will be fairly slow but it's also designed for small areas and to be honest with you traction with these on your vehicles is very challenging anyway so a lot of brushless power is just wasted by burning up tires. I'm sure We will be going brushless on it pretty quickly though :-)
I just pre-ordered one. Doesn’t ship until mid September.
Yeah I got one pre-ordered too. Seems like a long wait but I guess it is what it is.
I NEED a Ricky Bobby version
That would be awesome!
Iam waiting for the review of mjx hyper go 10208 any idea when?? thanks
I'm waiting to. As soon as I have one in my hands you will know :-)
Won't start seeing the 10208 until July unfortunately 😢
Maybe mid June fingers crossed
@-Astro-- bummer
What the heck?! I just bought a TT02 chassis kit. Now I'm broke for two weeks! 😭
Well these aren't coming out until September and I honestly don't expect that many people to want to buy them so you probably have some time to pre-order.
nice car, but I'm definitely not ready to pay those money for it
I believe I would buy one of these if as you said arrma's going to make its own non-licensed on-road grom with a more adequate price.
I can't guarantee they're going to but I feel like it would be weird for them not to given how easy it would be to do.
@@DoRC yea, definitely!
Same price as the unlicensed Redcat 10 scale lightning. Looks way better, and I suspect handle similarly. But look to be two cars that would make a great comparison.
That would be a good comparison. Thanks for watching!
I want the bush
Who doesn't:)
Hope they make a Dale Earnhardt model.
That would be cool.
Count me in!
Which one are you getting?
@@DoRC
One of the Chevrolets. Hopefully the 9 or 5 depending on what the local shop has,if they have any in stock.
With the position of ESC and servo, chassis looks a bit longer than a Typhon grom
It's possible though I compared pictures and they look the same to me. It is hard to tell in pictures though.
@@DoRC the video I just seen from losi said it is stretched from the grom, but didn't say what one.
Oh you're right. I didn't even notice that the ESE is not on top of the servo. Definitely must be a longer chassis. Cool!
Losi started doing big RC to slowly going to Minis😅
Yeah it's interesting that horizon decided to bring this out under their brand. I'm sure they have their reasons.
This is meant to eat into the Kyosho Mini Z racing market, the indoor racing scene could be swarmed with these. If Nascar RC racing gains popularity, we are going to seeing some people end up on probation, Nascar fans dont play around LOL.
Some sweet RC oval track action sounds pretty awesome though!
I wish arrma or Losi hard 1/10 onroad and rally options.
The 1/8 scale infraction is a little bit bigger than 1/10 scale but it's not a massive 1/8 scale and it's pretty light. If you want a smaller on road from them it's not the worst way to go.
Say that to Horizon Hobby which ruins it.
Nascar theme all the way !
I'll wait till it hits Jennys and then decide if I want to buy the parts(tires, body, bodymounts) and maybe put them on my Typhon
It does look like the chassis has also been extended a bit so I think you'll need the chassis and center drive shaft as well. You'll also need the front and rear bumpers and associated bits as well as the shocks as I think they're smaller
@@DoRC ya, it depends on the Chassis, if we assume the Granite is a SWB and the Typhon is a LWB
it will depend if this is XLWB or LWB(tho it is different from the Typhon one either way with the side guard mounts, tho those might not matter as much depending how/where it's driven)
honestly I am more concerned with the diffs, if they stick with the same standard one in the 2 Arrma Groms they are already the weak point on brushed motors, and lets face it half the people that get this are gonna want NASCAR speeeeeeeds
Brushless 3S and they just explode (my Typhon Grom made 2.5 runs on 3s Brushless)
Next up.. infraction grom
Yeah it would be kind of weird if they didn't make it infraction Grom given that they pretty much already have everything they need to do it
Traxxas punching the air right now lmao horizon hobbies is really top of the food chain 😂
They definitely are putting out a lot of good stuff.
Associated too.
LIKE HOW ITS LONGER TO FIT ESC DOWN ON CHASSIS AND NOT ON SERVO
Oh yeah good catch. I didn't even notice that. Probably so it will fit under the body
@@DoRC and makes it 1/12 longer... i think this chassis is longer then typon
@@RC4us Yeah it probably is.
I think it’s chassis is longer than the buggy
Yes it is! I found that out after making the video. Cant wait to get one
Dam near same price as my mini b and t
Got to pay that licensing tax.
It has a longer chassis than the typhoon grom
Yes I was pointed out to me after I made the video. Unfortunately it's not a ton of information available so it was hard to know for sure. Can't wait to get mine!
I want it lol
Me too!
Infraction Body, Brushless, Gyro. And some cheap Hoon-tyres.
Yep!
Well played horizon hobby... Here's my wallet. I hope shops start doing spec racing with these
:)
Guys , do yourself a favour and grt the mjx 14301/2/3 , run it on 2s and have fun. Those are worth the price...
Definitely a cool car. I think this will appeal to people who really like the NASCAR branding though.
I will buy this but i dont want a nascar body at all
Yeah I don't really mind the NASCAR body but I'm certainly not interested in paying extra for it :-)
@@DoRC I'm gonna be slapping on a WRX body and some rally meats or a skyline
You know it has a longer wheelbase and a longer chassis than the Grom.
Yes it does appear to have been stretched a bit from the Typhon Grom.
its like sibling rivalry with Losi and arrma
Maybe. To be honest with you they're both just names under horizon so it's really just one person making as much money as they can utilizing whichever brands they feel is best for specific products.
I'm not that into Nascar, but rubbin's racin'. I'm ok with the licensing surcharge when they look as good as Losi tends to.
Would prefer a roller option.
Yeah as long as you don't mind the licensing it definitely makes sense.
Soooo arrma and losi are dating now 😮😅😊
That might be a little weird seeming as though they are family :-)
@@DoRC XDDD
Technically started when tlr collaborated with arrma and the typhon
I think it started when horizon owned both of them :-)
@@DoRC ahhh that would explain it 🙂
Hope you have $40 to buy the metal diffs to replace the known factory defect in thier diffs.
What defect is that?
And Larson
Didja preorder?
It's an Arrma Grom...
Why didn't Arrma release it instead.?
Especially after they did those limited run truck bodyshell..
I really don't know. It's possible that they're planning on releasing an infraction or something like that under the Arrma name So they thought really saying this under the Losi name would separate out the competition if you will.
Hi, could anybody tell me whos selling them please
You can pre-order them through horizon hobby though they aren't going to be shipping until September
@DoRC ok thanks my mate
Why does it say losi Nascar ....? If it's a Arrma product
Extra $50 for the body is totally worth it to me. Take money lol
Yeah if you are into the NASCAR thing I can definitely see the value.
Overpriced... wish they had scaled down a 1/10 scale chassis (even a vaterra) rather than scaling up the grom. Doesnt seem very adjustable and hopefully it wont have diff issues with brushless systems... Im still waiting for a scale rally car using the vendetta/infraction chassis comon arrma/losi!
Yeah it does kind of feel like they're reaching the limit of what this chassis will be able to handle. Fortunately on road tires are nearly as hard on the drivetrain as off-road tires and based on what I'm seeing I don't think these tires are going to get a lot of traction anyway.
I need a mojave grom
Based on some URLs I saw on horizon's website it appears as though a Mojave Grom is on the way.
@@DoRC that is good to know
@@tuffy3637 Yeah there are broken links for the Mojave Grom and vortex Grom. Didn't see links for any others but that doesn't mean they're not coming. And those links don't necessarily mean that they are coming it just is a good hint.
@@DoRC can you send a link?
@@tuffy3637 check out my community posts. I think the screenshots of them are in my latest post.
Would rather non-NASCAR body, especially if it lowers the price point. Hoping some of the additions to GROM platform seen here translate into an SCT model.
Well I'm pretty sure they're going to be coming out with a Mojave and a vortex because there are links for them on horizon's website. Not sure about any other models though I would be really surprised if they didn't come out with some sort of on-road model based off this
@@DoRC would you recommend the Grom models over Latrax offerings? My kids are getting back into RC - and I have since married into a step daughter - so need to pick up some models. My 7yo has a brushed Stampede 4x4 that he mostly runs and an FMS 1/6 Jimny I built to be a trailer hauler for him, but I have a Latrax Prerunner and Rally (Rally purchase was really an eBay accident - didn’t think I would win for so low) that my 9yo girl and 6yo boy mostly use. Both of those Latrax models are waiting for me to replace the diffs...again. The Rally is rarely used due to it being what it is. Been looking the last few days between the Granite Grom and Gorgon. Didn’t want to show the kids either/any models to get input on until I was better informed. Would really appreciate your thoughts.
@@jrmbtr absolutely. The latrax trucks are really outdated and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone
@@DoRC Roger that! Any third party lipos you like for the Arrma’s that are direct plugin?
By the time you buy the body, paint, decals you'll have $50 in it so yeah, it's a deal.
Sure but the other Grom cars also come with body you. So it's not like you're getting a body that you wouldn't have gotten with the other ones. It's just different.
@DoRC yes, but not a licensed NASCAR body. $50 more for the body, Goodyear tires and other little bling bling is a fair price. Sounds like Arrma and Losi merged to build this for Horizon hobbies. My local track is looking at this. We bought into the Tamiya euro truck as a stock class, but interested faded and now we're stuck with vehicles no one races.
Don't mind the clips. Don't like the two in one system. Would like to see older NASCAR bodies. I'd pay extra for a Jeff Gordon body or Dale Earnhart body, Dale Jr. I think older dudes like me would for sure buy one if it came with older driver bodies. Not gonna get one. But if they drop a Jeff Gordon body style, my credit card is swiped. lol
I'm not sure if NASCAR still has license for the older bodies or not. Then maybe something I would have to go through the individual teams or families. I don't know how that works.
Now go out and hit the Pace car.
They definitely need a pace car
Hate the mini body clips and the 380 system
Yeah I'm not a fan of them either. I do get that the actual stock cars have body clips but they aren't in the right place there aren't the right in the number of them and they certainly aren't the right size.
4X4? NASCAR?
Yeah it's not super scale but honestly a two-wheel drive vehicle of this size would be pretty uncontrollable for most people
I was interested in a shelf queen until you said the price. It looks cool but after tax it's almost $200... Pass...
Maybe when parts become available you can just buy a body and the wheels and then glue them to a block of wood :-) if you weren't planning on running it anyway it really that might be a viable option.
He'll no, there are not getting 180 from me. Not for that. It's nice and all but no the license for the body they paid nothing for. Horizon has an actual race car!
Horizon sponsors one team in NASCAR but that doesn't mean they have free license to utilize all of NASCAR's IP. I assure you they paid to be able to use those bodies and tires.
If you decide later on to buy one of the losi nascar's you'll pay more than $180 it will be over $200 I have one on order now 😎👍
@@richardbrown6762 Is this because they're going to be limited edition or because they're going to go up in price retail?
@@DoRC I'm thinking this is a introduction price because there's a lot of nascar fans out there 😉👍
That's a NO from me.!!
$190.!!!
For a 1/12 scale plastic fantastic car with weak diffs (they'll probably last longer in this though due to the smaller tyres & being an on road).!
When you can get something like a brushless MJX Hyper Go C3 rally or Hoonitruck for around £100 that's 3S capable & will do 45mph.!
It'll also be more durable.!
I know I'm missing the point because they're going after racing fans with it, but still, $190.!!!
It smacks of a dirty marketing exercise.!
Yeah I think this is really only going to appeal to people who are attracted to the NASCAR theme.
Losi = $$$$
Power = 2/10.
Not worth it.
Overpriced, surely with brushed crap motor and 2s brushed esc.
Yes at the same power system as the groms it's probably going to be fairly slow.
Sad that losi has went and put their good name on an arrma. No doubt it will be a turd.
I actually expected to be pretty good. This platform is extremely durable handles well and other than not being super powerful out of the box is a really great set up.
tf🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Not a fan?
@@DoRC a massive fan of this channel but not of this car
@@maltesrc Yeah it's pretty expensive. The groms in general aren't the cheapest things in the world for what you get and it's interesting to see how much the licensing tax adds on.
not worth it. Mjx 14303 ist the cooler and a lot oh cheaper car. Bought one and it is for 120 bucks the brst value what you can get for the money
Yeah I think this will only really be worth it if you just have to have the NASCAR look.
I know. I know. I wrote wort with a marker Nascar on the frontscreen of the mjx. And now i have a rally and nascar. My mom was very proud when i showed her what i have did😁😅
Not a grom 😮😂😂
How so?
@@DoRC why do you think that?
@@richardbrown6762 because it's a grom. It's on the grom platform. The chassis is identical other than being slightly longer, it uses all of the same drivetrain components, uses all of the same electronics etc. The only difference is our typical platform changes to make different vehicles on the same platform such as arm length shock height etc.
@@DoRC so it's not a grom you just said so the grom is not tunable as far camber and toe in so it's not a grom
@@richardbrown6762 Grom is a platform. It is a basic set of parts and design that multiple different vehicles are based on. The granite grom and the Typhon Grom are not the same exact car but they're both groms because they're both on the same platform.
This is kind of like how Arrma has its 6s platform. It has a bunch of vehicles on that platform but they're all on the same 6s platform. Small differences such as having adjustable links length of the chassis shock tower size etc determine the specific vehicle but they don't change the fact that they're on the same platform.
Too bad its not 1/10...
I'm guessing 1/10 would have been a bit much for the Grom platform. I do want to get the chassis and make a truggy though!
Never again Losi or anything from horizon. Company that makes fun of small UA-cam channels like mine and then block me on social media. What a poor and lame shit company !!
Sorry to hear that happen. I've never heard of something like that happening before.
All that licensing but nothing special.
Can we expect anything less from horizon hobby now a days.
I think some people will be excited about it. People do love NASCAR and licensed stuff does have a niche. It's not something I would be interested in on my own but I do like the idea of an on-road grom variant. I really hope they make this into infraction Grom. I'd be shocked if they didn't
NASCAR people will pay anything
Yeah if you're a fan of the franchise this is definitely something that you'll want to get! Thanks for watching :-)
