Riding the HIGHEST PAVED ROAD in the USA | FJR1300's Take on MOUNT EVANS

- My father and I take the Yamaha FJR1300's up to the top of the highest paved road in North America. And as you would expect, the views up to Mount Evans are breathtaking, with alpine lakes, massive granite walls and strands of twisted, ancient bristlecone pine. Keep your eyes peeled for the marmots, mountain goats and bighorn sheep that call the mountain home.

Heah guy I own a 2013 FJR1300"a" model and love it. I bought it in the summer of 2013 with 2832 miles on it and now have nearly 67,000 miles on it. I'm closing in on my 63rd birthday now and still riding an enjoying it. BTW, in August 2015 I took a trip from Atlanta to Salt Lake City, the Grand Tetons and back. Coming back through Colorado I rode through Loveland, Pass, and wow what an experience. I'd never ridden that high up on such unprotected roads. The following year I took a trip that lasted 20 days and covered 7835 miles. I had a 952 mile day, and was 56 years old. My FJR is my Japanese mistress. I've never regretted buy it. I've owned 11 motorcycles in my 45 years of riding, and that included a BMW k1100. I'd take the FJR any day hands down over any BMW. The cost of owning a Beemer to keep it running is ridiculous, and I think any performance or refinements advantage the Beemers might claim is offset by the cost of owning it. I've done all the maintenance on my Yamaha myself including the one valve clearance adjustment it actually needed at 53,000 + miles. Yamaha specs checking the valves every 26,000. At the first interval I checked them and they were all good. The next one I did at just over 53,000 and I changed shims in four of the sixteen valves , and they were just barely out of tolerances. It's a great machine and that's coming from a 32 year airline mechanic.
love that ride. twice done on my KLR.
This is Awesome! Snowing in July! Welcome to Colorado
Yay, FJR content. Lol! Great vid! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for saving me the Grief of driving up there, I go by it often, don't want to risk shaking all the M/C components loose
Excellent informative video great job on both scenes and info love the bike as well the ride up little intense going down lol my next bike is the FJR1300 all my bikes been cruisers time for a change !! Thanks again ride safe 🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice scenery on the way up!
How cool. I didn't get to ride Mt. Evans while I was in Colorado, but I did get Pikes Peak. I can't believe how torn up the road is. Those goats blend in kinda hard to see them. The ones in Northern Nevada are Bright White. Excellent Ride. Thanks for sharing with us.
Amazing views, great bikes. Steep fall...
That flyover was pretty cool. The road may not be in great shape, but a cool ride for sure. They are starting to do the permit thing on roads around here as well. Kind of sucks, but helps keep parking and traffic a little better when you do go to them.
I have done Highway to the sky in Montana , I would definitely want to add this to my travels. Great video thanks .
Oh my.... the jet!
Great vid! Love my 2009 FJR 1300 AE! Ride safe…
Paved is a loose term for this road. Lol. That’s pretty cool all the stuff they have up there. The twist mountain thing is awesome too.
The switchbacks are the bestest, unless of course you have lost use of your clutch LOL
Nice video. I was there in the summer of 1987 on a trip from Toronto, Canada (on a 1982 Honda GoldWing Interstate. I have an FJR1300 now.). It's changed a lot. It was free back then. To be honest, I don't remember seeing most of the ride because it was raining fairly heavy on the ride up. Visibility wasn't the best. But I do remember the condition of the pavement.
Nice Rideout. Greetings from Germany
Yes, I wouldn't want to be up there with ⚡ lightening either!
Long's Peak! 🤗
