Being from Colorado I have ridden up Mt. Evans many times on my bicycle .... Your comment on the road is spot on I won't do it again until they fix it. However, I have yet to ride it on the motorcycle and will do that this summer. Your advice to take lots of water and to start early to avoid thunderstorms is important to those that aren't used to altitude. Tommyknockers is a great spot in Idaho Springs. Have you been to Beau Jo's for their Mountain Pizza Pies? They have honey on the table for the crust and it's a nice combination of sweet and savory. Thanks for the great content.
I really enjoy your videos and hope you keep riding wherever the road takes you. Six months ago my doctors office called me and told me the best news in two years. My blood levels were up and normal and they were so happy for me. They cried with joy with me. The monster that was destroying my bone marrow was gone!! My doctor said “Go out and Live” get some hobbies. So I returned to riding after a 37 year absence. I plan on riding that Mountain. So keep riding because you have inspired me to set goals
In my younger years I camped at Echo Lake, then up early and rode my mtn. bike to the summit. It snowed an inch or two during the night & I was the first one on the rode that day. Riding through fresh snow & through a herd of mtn. goats near the summit. A wonderful personal memory.
I have 22 that have been filmed. I'm doing my best to edit them as fast as possible. Unfortunately I don't get tens or hundreds of thousands of views on every video like other large moto creators so I have to put my energy into other things to stay financially afloat for the time being. Thank you for understanding!
I didn’t know is fun fact about Colorado. I’m an 8 hr drive from this beautiful state. I’m itching for a road trip! Maybe once the summer come back around I’ll go for it
We rode our Wing up MT. Evans and Pikes Peak in 6/19. You're right about a couple of rough sections. Looked the same to me. Being from East TN with lots of mountains and narrow, curvy roads we really enjoyed the ride. Just have to watch for cars taking ALL the road! We saw some Mtn goats and a baby one, lots of Mtn sheep, and a ptarmigan. Also saw those marmots eating asphalt. Go figure. I guess if I lived at 14,000 feet elevation and cold as hell all year, I'd eat asphalt too. Enjoyed the ride with you guys!
Spent 5 days this past summer in CO. Riding to the summit of Mt Evans was the high light of the trip. Looking forward to returning now that I've got the Pan Am.
We have been there in 2021 August on the way home from Sturgis to South Florida. We have seen patches of snow. It is an unbelievable ride, quite challenging sometimes. Just guessing you are close to that area. Looks amazing. Been up Pikes Peak and this looks way more beautiful. We have some small mountains in Oregon but nothing with a road like that. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you
I’m from California and back in like 2007 I rode Mt Evans and you totally did it justice with your filming. Great job! Been to Tommyknocker too and didn’t want to leave LOL. I just started watching your videos and dig the content. Keep it up!

These videos never miss! Gonna be taking the long way to Sturgis next year from Texas, and plan on heading up through Colorado so maybe this will be a stop to enjoy since it'll be while it's open
I'm heading to Colorado in a few weeks to finally get out again, always wanted to go back there after a short trip through the state one time. That looks like one hell of a climb there.
As usual, great content and video. That road definitely looks like a lot of fun, but a little paving work would be nice. Keep up the great work Staci. Thanks
Great video! Beautiful scenery for sure. I’ve ridden Pikes Peak severely times over the years, but somehow I’ve never been up Mt Evans. Definitely on my list to do. You always share a great place to eat! Thanks!
Thanks for always watching and riding along! Have only done pikes once, and the donuts weren’t available due to the pandemic. So I have to do a redemption ride to the top next year! 🍩
@@ridetofood …. That’s a great idea! Hope the donuts are fresh when you get there. I just did Mt Evans this Summer. The words "paved road", they use loosely for this ride. It was super windy at the top when we went. Also we slept on those benches right behind you at that gas station at the end of your video. Come to find out there were no hotels/motels available Labor Day weekend in a 50 mile radius of Idaho Springs.
Dang! Yeah, Labor Day weekend is a busy busy time in the mountains. It’s almost impossible to even find a campsite! But, looks like y’all figured it out 🤣👏
@@ridetofood figured it out by camping out on that bench behind you in the 30s. No, us Texas folks, didn't figure it out but we suffered through the night in that parking lot. I slept on that bench in my Klim gear with boots and helmet on. Its all worth the story of the adventure. But not my everyday story.
I really enjoyed this video because I was in a meeting with a group of dignitaries from the Governor’s Office two years ago. The Mt. Evans has been renamed. I plan on riding to the summit in the future on my next bike. I’m currently working on driving distances and expect to be ready sometime next year. Thanks for another great video! You seem to always go somewhere that I’ve been in the past (some would say I’m old) but it’s great cuz it brings back good memories. I’ve been up Mt. Evans 3 or 4 times. I always felt the switchbacks on Mt Evans we’re easier than those on Pikes Peak. They might be tighter but I don’t think they’re as steep. There’s a State Park in Arkansas called Mt. Nebo. The switchbacks up to the top of Mt. Nebo are flat out terrifying. I’ll never ride up there again! But I’m a flat lander from central IL, only two curves in my town and straight roads and corn everywhere else…
Lol! I’ll have to check out mount nebo the next time I’m in Arkansas! Thanks for watching and riding along. Glad they bring back good (and thrilling) memories!

Great video. Mount Evans looks absolutely amazing. We don't have anything anywhere close to that high in the UK, our top three are Cairnwell Pass (2,200ft), The Lecht (2,113 ft) and Bealach na Ba (2,054 ft) which has several really tight switchbacks. I rode all three this summer on my ride around Scotland.
I must have gotten lucky, been to the top twice and both times it was after labor day and neither time was there any snow up there, I didnt have a pass the last time I was there but the kind lady at the check in place let me go up. @@ridetofood Thanks for letting me know. That helps. I would need something fuel injected since I ride a lot around in California. Not as extreme altitude in sweet Colorado but plenty of high peaks here. Your answer helps a lot.
Hey Staci, I will be up the first week in June. Thinking of riding Mt. Evans, but will have my Bushtec trailer in tow. Do you see any issues with pulling a trailer on this road? Thanks Kevin
I was up there once back in 2003. The O2 up there is pretty thin. I stopped the bike, put the kick stand down and then stepped off the bike to stumble around like I had slammed a six pack of beer on the way up. Cheep drunk. lol Burn some gas and get hypoxia.
I believe it! I’ve driven my tacoma up the pass one time, I’d rather be on a bike....assuming the weather is cooperative lol Edit: I’m an idiot and didn’t look at which video thumbnail was next to the comment. I’ve never driven my truck up mount evans 🤣 props to you lol!
Great personality and presence. Your voice makes me vomit, though. It cracks and cracks and cracks, and the fact you don't notice makes me wonder, greatly, what planet I did land on. Oh, you're one of many I have said this to: YOU HURT MY EARS! I COULD WATCH YOU ALL DAY WITHOUT SOUND, OR RIDE ALL DAY WITH YOU HEARING THE HARLEY DAVIDSON TALK. You've inspired me to go on a long road trip on my bike. I'm planning for the upcoming year to travel with my dad trough schotland with our harleys! Keep these videos up💪
Badass!!!
I'm curious to know what camping gear you use. All my camping gear is huge and it looks like yours packs down really small. Maybe an off-season video idea?
I have 22 videos to edit from this year's riding season, but I do have one filmed (one of my last videos) on this topic! :) I also have a full list of my camera gear and all of my gear up on my website!
Awesome video. Can we fly a drone on the summit or would that be a bad idea?
I believe it’s illegal but you’d have to do some googling for yourself to know for sure!
Tommyknocker tundra berry❤️❤️❤️
You know!!! The best! 😊
I must ask. Is your Dyna fuel-injected or carb? Just wondering how your bike runs when air become thinner. I’ve been hunting down FXDX and FXDXi for awhile. Let me know, thanks! Ride long and safe!
Mine is EFI but the anniversary edition seen here is carb! However, it’s jetted for mile high elevations....not sea level lol. So it was fine!
@@ridetofood Thanks for letting me know. That helps. I would need something fuel injected since I ride a lot around in California. Not as extreme altitude in sweet Colorado but plenty of high peaks here. Your answer helps a lot.
What about Beau Jo’s?! Not a brewery but they’ve got the best mountain pizza!
Everyone loves that place. I haven't been there yet. I eat maybe 2 pizzas a year lol. Woops!
Hey Staci, I will be up the first week in June. Thinking of riding Mt. Evans, but will have my Bushtec trailer in tow. Do you see any issues with pulling a trailer on this road?
Thanks Kevin
I think a motorcycle trailer would be okay but I’m not entirely sure how they handle. If they do well in hairpin turns you should be fine
What kind of bike do you have its pretty

Cool
😊👍
👍👍👍
I was up there once back in 2003. The O2 up there is pretty thin. I stopped the bike, put the kick stand down and then stepped off the bike to stumble around like I had slammed a six pack of beer on the way up. Cheep drunk. lol Burn some gas and get hypoxia.
Altitude sickness sucks. Been there before!
drove my 2000 chevy 2500 4wd 6.0 up this in fall, it was sketchy
I believe it! I’ve driven my tacoma up the pass one time, I’d rather be on a bike....assuming the weather is cooperative lol
Edit: I’m an idiot and didn’t look at which video thumbnail was next to the comment. I’ve never driven my truck up mount evans 🤣 props to you lol!
Like
Thank ya!
Next you need to ride to the "highest town in the US". Alma Colorado, a little ways East of Climax. 🙄
Why the eye roll?
Hey, nice marmot.
Haha gotta love em!
Fat Marmots!
Yes that road has some nasty frost heaves; good to see they haven’t fixed them since 2016! 😂
Chubby lil guys just living their best life! Lol! 😂👏
@@ridetofood 😂😂😂 It’s what we all strive for!
Enjoyed your video! Please check out my ride through Zion National Park. I think you will enjoy it.
Thanks for watching! :)
IF YOU LIKE SOUND, BEGIN BY LISTENING TO YOURSELF. Great ride you showed today, so thanks for bringing me along, it was fun.
This might be the most hilarious comment ever left on any of my videos.
@@ridetofood Glad to bring you joy. Usually truth brings conflict, the WHY of your 2021 fiction. Maybe it was the altitude that made your voice crack?
