Maybe instead of putting a harness on the fish, just put a net around the tube and have the fish push against a soft net. Or, have a soft mesh net around the fish inside the tube, that way the pulling force is applied evenly around the fish and will be less likely to hurt or hinder them.

@@magicdolphin3090 Owning dogs is ethical. Abusing dogs is unethical. Obviously adding abuse to something makes it unethical, even if it originally was not.
not intending to argue im not knowledgeable enough on fish ethics, but i think part of the difference is that those animals have all been domesticated over centuries (millennia?), the fish may have been raised in a farm but thats not the same level of generational domestication i dont think. plus someone else in the comments pointed out that fish are very sensitive to feel minute changes in water direction/temperature/pressure so the harnesses could be much more uncomfortable for them, then theres also just the fact of holding them outside of the water for an amount of time which suffocates them momentarily, and all of these things combined just stressing them out a bunch
If the harness was attached to the bottom of the pipe as well as the top, it would work better, as the harness makes them turn upwards when they want to swim fast. But also, I think having a small net on the front of each pipe, with a hole just large enough for their snout to fit through would work best instead of a harness. That way their head would be fixed into the net and they could swim semi-freely without the obstruction of the harness.
@@campbellhenderson9335 I don’t know what you’re referring to? What cylinder and what tube? If you’re talking about his set up, mine was completely different. I used a modified fish tank and netting. A lot less work than what he did lol
A few ideas for improvement: 1) Use a net that fits around the fish (leaving their faces, gills, and fins free to work) to more effectively hold them. 2) Make the tubes a few inches longer and put netting "doors" on them. If the fish "slip their traces", they'll still be contained. 3) For steering, you want the "fish yoke" to be mounted on a swivel under the tongue. Then mount a crossbar to the bow of the boat. Mount pulleys on the end of the crossbar. Run ropes out from where you sit, through the pulleys, and then forward to the "fish yoke". This should give you enough leverage to point them in the direction you wish. Good luck with version 1.1!
Since they've got the tube, they could probably ditch the harness altogether. Just make the tube narrow enough that the fish can't turn around, and put meshing over the ends so the fish can't escape.
@@proot.The fish won't have an incentive to swim forward then since it would be obstructed, i feel like the harness makes it think that its actually free to swim forward thus incentivising it

Honestly I'm impressed with the video. I know some people think it's unethical or whatever but it's the identity of this channel and I hope you never loose that
Thankyou, this is exactly what I need to see! Re steering problem; this is the same thing that happens when you try to pull a large blob shaped object (like a raft) by rope with a tiny boat; you can't steer the boat at all and just end up veering all over the place. I think it would have worked if you put a fin on the back of the dingy, maybe a fin on a long pole.
i think the most efficient way would be to pyrolyze the fish and turn it into charcoal and then use that charcoal to run a coal powered steam engine. you should also be able to burn the fish gas that comes off from pyrolyzing to get extra power. i've seen people do this with bees to make bee charcoal and create heat during the winter

Ideas to improve the design: -Maybe distribute the chutes to the left and the right of the boat, allowing you to pivot the chute assemblies from just above your lap while in the boat and possibly even allowing you to disengage the assemblies by pulling up and lifting them out of the water. - Secondly, instead of the harnesses, simply secure the fish into the chutes by using grates to keep them in while allowing water to pass through, also ensuring that the chutes are still too narrow for the fish to reorient themselves, thus keeping them forward facing. I would really like to see another iteration on this concept.
@@yvesstocky9936 Yes, I should have considered this. In the interest of promoting a better world and more ethical chariot 2.0, perhaps a combination of rotary seals, electric motors, and propellers could be used as an alternative to fish power... thank you, Yvesstocky9936.

Dogs, horses and oxen don't have to be asphyxiated to put their harnesses on. Also, some would argue that all those things are also unethical
not intending to argue im not knowledgeable enough on fish ethics, but i think part of the difference is that those animals have all been domesticated over centuries (millennia?), the fish may have been raised in a farm but thats not the same level of generational domestication i dont think. plus someone else in the comments pointed out that fish are very sensitive to feel minute changes in water direction/temperature/pressure so the harnesses could be much more uncomfortable for them, then theres also just the fact of holding them outside of the water for an amount of time which suffocates them momentarily, and all of these things combined just stressing them out a bunch
@mm-gk6xg Gotta start somewhere. I'm sure the first horses to pull a carriage didn't know what was going on either.

@@crappyshorehen8201 Shit, you've got a point.
I would like to go back in time and watch the Roman fish chariot races.
A few ideas for improvement:
1) Use a net that fits around the fish (leaving their faces, gills, and fins free to work) to more effectively hold them.
E
Please never make another one of these they're too cursed.
Please don't make improvements, this thing is too cursed the way it is now
Since they've got the tube, they could probably ditch the harness altogether. Just make the tube narrow enough that the fish can't turn around, and put meshing over the ends so the fish can't escape.
@@proot.The fish won't have an incentive to swim forward then since it would be obstructed, i feel like the harness makes it think that its actually free to swim forward thus incentivising it

What the hell 🤣
Never thought I’d hear about bee charcoal
@@LMAx22Nissart Yeah codyslab did it in a video a while back, while seeing what all he could turn into charcoal.

you can burn the fish after it gets hungry or tired after you use it as an engine first. For sort of hybrid fish engine.

I would be down for a scary and traumatizing time with the possibility of being freed instead of farmed for death shortly.
Ideas to improve the design:
-Maybe distribute the chutes to the left and the right of the boat, allowing you to pivot the chute assemblies from just above your lap while in the boat and possibly even allowing you to disengage the assemblies by pulling up and lifting them out of the water.
- Secondly, instead of the harnesses, simply secure the fish into the chutes by using grates to keep them in while allowing water to pass through, also ensuring that the chutes are still too narrow for the fish to reorient themselves, thus keeping them forward facing.
I would really like to see another iteration on this concept.
or maybe just stop this unethical project
@@yvesstocky9936 Yes, I should have considered this. In the interest of promoting a better world and more ethical chariot 2.0, perhaps a combination of rotary seals, electric motors, and propellers could be used as an alternative to fish power... thank you, Yvesstocky9936.
