Great review and love the ‘spend responsibly’.
Damn that webcam though , i thought it was a footage shoot from a proper videocam. Simply mind blowing 😳
Thank you, Eber and HC. I did get the laptop and it's quite decent for old games (Civ 5), very portable, and runs cooler than a 12th Gen i5 1240P. Happy New Year!
Loving the laptop reviews you've been doing lately! I've been comparing ASUS and Lenovo laptops for purchase, and these have been very helpful. One minor suggestion: please include whether the display uses PWM vs DC dimming in future laptop reviews, if possible. Some people are more sensitive to it and it can give them headaches and other issues. No big deal if you can't (one or two websites have this info), though. Thanks!
Been in your position. Compared ASUS and Lenovo for most bang for buck for my budget and I settled on Ideapad Slim 5i, the i5 13500H version with 60Hz OLED. So far so good. Can't get enough of that display though. I'm spoiled now 😂
Agree with the PWM part
This is basically a sponsored channel. They wouldn't dare
@@chiaza7735 totally agree
Notebookcheck is notable for this. There are few screens that are DC, but there's a few that are high enough pwm where it's imperceptible. Even worse is that the refresh rate gets slower the dimmer the screen is.
It's a great idea to look at imo.
Yo, great vid!
What's the DLSR camera in the thumbnail, next to the laptop? It looks top-notch! :D
Thanks for comparing this laptop vs other laptops (including ones with ultra low power CPU's) with gaming FPS benchmarks. Sometimes people / companies forget that some of us will game in a pinch on a laptop without a discrete GPU. I for example am trying to decide if I want to replace my i7-1355u machine with this laptop, neither has a GPU but based on your tests I should be pleased with the gaming bump if I decide to make the upgrade.
Just got a new laptop. Ideapad slim 5i with i5 13500h and OLED. Can't stop looking at the display. OLEDs are a must for me for laptops now
I purchased this laptop over a month ago, which has an i9 processor, 32GB RAM, and an RTX3050 graphics card. I must say this device is amazing. It operates quietly during regular use and is blazingly fast. Although I'm not a gamer, RTX305 is more than sufficient for my needs. However, the only downside is the battery life, which isn't terrible, but it would be great to see a minimum of 10 hours of battery life in a laptop in 2023.
what kind of work do u work in this lap, dude? can this laptop run smooth on heavy loads like UE5 and sych?
Maybe don't buy a tiny laptop with gpu and most powerful cpu if you expect great battery life... or in a few years!
What about the device battery temperature?
How long is the battery life?
@@generalmauron892I've purchased the laptop as well. Same specs i9 32gb with the rtx 3050. Its pretty capable for moderate graphic designing and video editing. But i must say thermals aren't the best. This thing gets really hot in extensive tasks, so don't expect a smooth and comfortable gaming experience. Overall is a great laptop that hits the right notes of portability, great visuals, above avg battery, good performance and affordability.
That's a great review. I'm planning to buy one soon, but I'm worried about the 120Hz display potentially draining the battery fast if there's no dynamic refresh rate. I did some research and found that VRR requires WDDM 3.0 support. I'm wondering if the ZenBook i5 or i7 with Intel Iris graphics supports this feature. Your response is appreciated! 😊
Great video, new sub 😎
This is on sale at Best Buy for $699 USD today! I just picked it up and it’s amazing for the price.
I recently bought this laptop. It's pretty good at it's starting price of $1000. Sturdy, with little fan noise and an OLED screen. But it was on sale for $700, which makes it basically unbeatable, even against a Macbook Air.
Where did you buy it for 700?
@@anti_carry2659+1
@@anti_carry2659 Best buy. If you check it often, it will be back on sale eventually.
I recently bought the i9 model, which normally costs €2000 (incl tax) in Europe, it was 10% off and got it for school/work. It was the only laptop on the market that fits all of my needs, the only disappointment I have with it is that the screen isn't a touchscreen and the chassis is a fingerprint magnet. The rest of the laptop is superb.
Does it have a fingerprint sensor?
Alt ad spot: THAT'S A RIDGE....ON THE RIDGE! 💥*explosions* 💥
Looks great on paper and visually. I am sure it will be very fast, but I see a couple of possible issues.
1 => bad battery life
2 => such a thin and light chassis will make it hard to cool such a processor and gpu, which might result in a hot laptop and loud fan noise. Also, performance might be way lower without charger.
Thanks for the review.
11 hours of battery isnt bad but it will degrade, again still isnt bad
I have it and the battery life does suffer... but the GPU and processor are not hot, and the fan is not loud at all
Should I get this or a similarly priced the Lenovo Yoga 7? Any resource or tips are greatly appreciated.
Any plans on taking a look at the zenbook pro 14? I was considering the 14x but the pro is much more powerful. In some discussions, it is not quite as fast as the zephyrus 14 2023, but its close. About the battery life, I'm completely in the dark.
That's interesting. My 13 S doesn't last anywhere near 2 hrs on "heavy use" (gaming), probably around < 1 hrs.
I'm surprised at Iris xe doing better on gaming than 680M at lower wattage. Did intel tweak the xe cores, or was it asus optimizations?
Please do a review of the new Legion Slim 5 14 inch and discuss the ports/dual monitor desktop hub capabilities.
Love the video. I just picked this laptop with the i7 up for $700 definitely worth the price but Im definitely gonna upgrade the storage.
ditto.. i upgraded to 2tb
I am so impressed with the ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED Review. In my case I did not consider ASUS when replacing my previous laptop. That clearly was my loss. I am not disappointed with my purchase, but clearly by not considering the ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED I have missed out on a fantastic laptop to compare. Most impressive is the thin and light design with the Intel 13H Series of processors.
All said when I consider replacing my current PC, I certainly will include ASUS ZenBook.
Hey, I have watched your reviews on the Lenovo Slim/Yoga series as well. Which would you recommend between the 1360p Lenovo slim/Yoga and the 14x? As a teacher, mostly Google, Microsoft applications with occasional video creation and editing. I would really like to be able to work outside on the porch from time to time, so brightness is a factor. Thanks!
This particular model with the i7-13700H has been going on sale here and there since the summer at BestBuy, usually at $699 USD.
Yep, I just grabbed one from Best Buy for that price. Ironically they had the i5-13500H 8GB version for $799, I had to do a double take as to why the higher spec one cost $100 less.
Interesting I have not see it drop below $999 yet
It is for 800 on Amazon US@@limirl
The graphics card Nvidia RTX 3050 isn't bad. It's good enough to do most video editing on. Gets 7.2 TFLOPs. The M2 MacBook Air get 3.68 TFLOPs and many professionals use it for light work.
Also, you have a great podcast voice. I'm surprised you don't work for NPR.
I think 3050 have smaller chip than 4050. I bought Asus Rog Flow Z13 2023, but it deserves place in Vivobook. It’s has 13900H, super nice as workstation.
Excellent PC, super light and perfect for everything, editing and even gaming, thanks to the fact that it has Thunderbolt 4 connection you can connect an eGPU and have all the power of a desktop computer in your home and the portability of a laptop on the street
Don't expect the same performance as a workstation or bigger laptop, even with the same cpu/RAM!
Or for 5 minutes maybe...
Does the smart charging capability have much impact on the longevity of the battery?
The i9 and GPU really guzzle the battery.
I use a ZenBook 15 with a Ryzen 7 and a 3050Ti, it's perfect for my work Figma + Adobe Suite and it runs Elden Ring and Armored Core 6 @1080p really well. For the price, it's pretty much unbeatable. Although a 3050 or a 3050Ti is nothing special, I would definitely recommend splurging for one if you intend to play games on your laptop. The speakers, though, are plain just pathetic in comparison with any Macbook.
the 3050 may be nothing special compared to high performance graphics but it will definitely let you play anything released up until today and any future game that doesn't push the graphics too much, so anyone who wants to play game, even a little bit, it's completely worth it!
I casually play sims 4 and not that regularly tbh, should I bother with getting the graphics card too? Outside of that, I’d only really want to use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
1:33 How are you liking that Brevite Jumper? Been thinking of getting one
Can you please do the Zenbook 16x OLED, I'm stuck between the Zephyrus and Zenbook excluding the cost of both, which one is the better option (16")
If possible pls review the asus tuf a16 advantage edition????
Very much looking forward seeing it😊
This laptop does follow a lot of philosophies used on the Apple Macbook, and that is even better when the i7 variant I am using us just only at $999
This laptop regularly is on sale. Right now Best Buy (US) can get it for $699 which is a steal.
Will you be reviewing the 15"inch model that came equipped with Ryzen 7735U cpu? Model UM3504DA
I got my 14x oled for uni a couple weeks ago, I'd say it's by far my favourite laptop I've used. The one I got was the 13900h, 3050, and 16gb RAM. It's alright for light gaming titles like seige, but don't expect 120 fps without using DLSS, but again, that's not the main point of the laptop.
Even with the i9, the temps stay pretty cool around 60deg.
what's the battery like?
Hi man😅
What problems can I test if I buy
A 13500h and 8 ram version of this??
@@SirSean gets me through a whole day of lectures
@@so-hadi sorry man I don't get your question
@@link3457
I mean
Asus zenbook 14x oled
i5 13500h
8 ram and 512 storage
This is good or I need more ram
Just got this one for 800 bucks on amazon, good price imo. Wish it runs good
Bought this laptop after about 3 months back now the speaker is crackling
I have the older 1240P variant of this.
It's great but man, that standard SSD is *slow* for QD1 and single-thread tasks and 8GB of RAM is simply unacceptable in 2023.
I built an $800 PC in 2013 with 16GB of RAM.
The RAM is soldered so you're stuck with it until you either desolder it and replace it or you replace the whole mainboard.
Replacing the awful SSD with a 670P (not exactly a screaming performance beast) dramatically improved responsiveness as it runs at 95% RAM all the time.
HDMI 2.1 port is listed as TMDS which only supports 4K 60hz but i guess only an iGPU for most models.
Screen burn is a real issue in asus oled laptops?
Bought $799 zenbook, so far so good. Love it
How's the fan noise and heating? Also can it handle running 4 different Office 365 apps concurrently without stalling?
So, is OLED better for the eyes then Min-LED or IPS?
Is it better than macbook air m1 for davinci resolve?
This is a great value for the average consumer. The 8gb version has been on sale at best buy for 599 and 549 before and at that price it is a great value for basic computing with some amazing value.
The 96GB 5600 Mhz laptop RAM is only $300 and Legion Slim 5 7840HS $1300. Thinkpad p14s g4 7840U has 64GB and 1800p Oled for $2000.
What is the difference between Vivo Book & zenbook?
I got an older model of this laptop which had a 1440p display under the touchpad. The laptop speakers stopped working within a week. Returned it and got an msi and haven’t looked back
Is there any option of DC dimming as it's an OLED display?
Don't need a new laptop, but did need some Eber in my life.
i would like an aSUS but not until MTL arrives.
I got the 16gb laptop model for $96 and yes it is a great laptop.
Finally a thin Windows laptop that can actually compete with the Macbook Pro Ports ports. Full HDMI and USBA is nice. They could have added a full SD card slot which XPS still doesn't have. The USBA will be more useful for more people though. Great decision Asus. The small power brick is great. The physical functionality of this thing is fantastic. After couple years since the Macbook Pro were released and introduced actual ports and still not having many options from Windows laptops for designs with ports, this feels like a breath of fresh air.
Good looking laptop.
Serious reviews. Thanks. Now, what are the Windows laptops (that have a bigger than 13 inches display AND better than the normal FHD 1,920 x 1,080 displays AND having a touchscreen of course) that you tested or you know they will last more than 9 hours constant 4k video Playback?
What do you need the touchscreen for, this one is not 360° foldable or detachable?
I'm just curious because I have it and can't see what to do with it...
Also 1920 on a small screen like this is fine if you don't have your face over the keyboard! - provided it doesn't show screen door effect of course, but if that were the case, even 2.5K on a 14'' won't change the problem and you will see the pixels!
Asus ZenBook 14X with a Intel Core i9-13900H or a i7-13700h which would be the better buy?
As a mac user and thinking that M4 is slightly faster (i may be wrong ) i will still choose this laptop for CS students and then maybe get a macbook in the future! Perfect laptop for its performance and for its price!
Can you use this laptop for 3d modeling?
Would love to watch a review on asus vivobook pro 16x oled k6604 🙏
would u recommended this or hp pavilion for coding purposes?
6:50 is it possible to disable this feature? I don't like how it makes the colors look washed.
reports are that the OLED screen is like a mirror, can you comment on the reflective nature of this screen?
I'm looking for a laptop for engineering design around $1000. Any recommendations, please 🙏
Me as a musician/ beat maker without the need for an super laptop with 4090 etc. Always wish for a good laptop with all the best specs but without the overkill GPU 🫶 so thanks for this video 🙏
"and also, spend responsibly." Good stuff.
At least watching reviews are free =). (Aside from the time spent.)
Should've included gaming laptops that also have the 13700H to see how much power gap there is between different voltages of the same chip as in GPUs. Could be misleading for many non-experts who think buying this 13700H will get almost the same CPU power as a gaming laptop for a lower price, but that's not the case.
Where can I find the i13900 32 gb 1 to version for 1499 usd ? any deal(black friday coming up?
I'm not a fan of soldered ram. The i5 model would actually be much better with 16GB of RAM, that would be the very sweet spot for me in terms of specs/price if it existed, even soldered into the MB.
Same! The i5 is plenty for me but 8GB of RAM is just rubbish. Even though I probably won't need more than 8GB right now, I like using my laptops for many years. I'm curious about how the battery life compares with a Ryzen version.
Soldered ram is still the way to go if you want performance. Just get the amount if memory you want to have during the life cycle of your device. The pricing is calculated people do not go for the base model.
If they would offer a model with UR ram they would charge more as the prediction for revenue is lower.
@@marcello4258 expecting much performance in an ultra thin is a bit of a stretch, that's why i-5 is my preference, lower power equals better cooling, I want a work laptop, nothing I use hits it too heavy, obviously I know more ram would increase the price, but not by much, compared to the next tier which is $200 more.
Love the hardware, if only the CPU would have an AMD. I thought all that Intel Power and efficiency cores is suppose to be like macs with low power being battery efficiencient while P cores for powers but..?
Is it touchcreen? and does it include a pen?
Perfect screen for gaming with my Geforce Now Ultimate account 👌😁
I'm between this and a base model MacBook Air M2. I cannot decide, as they both seem amazing in different ways. I just added a college minor, I'm going to be doing a lot in the Adobe Creative Cloud, and battery life is important, but not being able to afford the RAM upgrade in the MacBook Air is pretty big. Would this be a better choice than a base M2 MacBook Air for my use case? Thanks!
Get the macbook air.
memory soldered means this can't be to upgrade memory form 8GB to 16GB for Asus Zenbook UX3404 Q410VA ya ?
I wonder how hard it would be to add an Occulink module...
I wish I had watched this before buying this laptop. You said that 8GB ram isn't enough for Windows 11. Can you expound on that in another vid? Thx
The price is really good but in Bangladesh cost around $1800 which is not good option overall.
Does anyone know how to get the Sandstone color of this in NA or the US?
I got this for $500 USD in the base config with the 13500h. I'm surprised it can play Destiny 2 and Remnant: From the Ashes without needing to go below 1200p-ish. It'll do for little gaming sessions when the cat pins me down on the couch 😂. Screen is great for watching anything and the keyboard is good enough for emails and docs
Unfortunately this version is not available in India 😢
should've included AMD options. Ryzen 9 7940HS, 7 7840HS would be awesome !
Is he using the gray version or darker version?
Laptops especially thin& light ones need to stop being shipped with soldered ram. The base model would probably be ideal for most people looking to buy a zenbook but now they gotto shell extra 200 usd just for more ram. Ryzen U series would have been dope on this since they offer a amazing performance to battery life combo.
In Europe now I can only find 16 Gb version. Only the Pro with 32 and 64 Gb...
And Ryzen on Yoga Pro/Slim 7 has very bad battery life, many users complain about 3-4 hours only with basic usage, despite ~10 hours in the specs and YT reviewers...
What does he means when heavy loads
What kind of tasks
Can anyone say plss
what about the AMD Ryzen 7 5825U OLED variant?
does it have a usb-c displayport?
Hows battery life?
Does it have extra ssd slots ??
The Zenbook pro 14 has the nvidia 40 series.
Give me this over an XPS any day
What if you only had 700 USD as budget? What would be your choice?
I don’t know if I should invest in a MacBook Pro or buy this laptop, I want a laptop for 4-5 years that will feel new in 3-4 years , I want to lean by myself how to code, the thing is I have an iPhone and it’s amazing still after 3 years and still feel new while before it I had a note 9 and it felt old 1.5 years after I got it, my question is if also on laptop somehow apple feels amazing also after 5 years?
You should have compared it to acer swift go 14 oled
Just got my piece today, I have the i9 Version, great device, but the battery life is absolutely underwhelming, it gets about 4 hours
Some of these have the RTX350 and some have Intel iris xe...which is better. ..for video editing.
They should use p series instead of h series for laptop like this ,

asus disregards the expertbook line more and more
they have so much potential, too, whatwith all the technological advancements on other lines

How useful is the pantone validation, if it is just a color profile? Or is the profile validated?
Wish it had google play app store
I ended up getting this for school in cyber security an to write a novel
Here is something that reviews dont talk about. ASUS uses a weird overlay for the touch panel on their OLED panels. So if you get one, you might see a chevron'esque pattern across the screen in lighter displayign colors. So doing spreadsheets i had to return the laptop after 24 hours. It was driving me crazy seeing it and having this extra texture like canvas across my work.
Are you sure this was on their OLED panels?
@@HardwareCanucks for me. I got an Asus zenbook 14 flip (13th Gen i5), and I just couldn't adjust to it. I had to get something else with an lcd. Other than that I loved the laptop but using it was straining me too much. I did find at the WM one other zenbook oled panel without touch and it didn't have that issue for my eyes. It's something with how the touch layer is on the panel. Redditors also have logged the "murky" issue of it too if you want to look into it further. I didn't have the time to get equipment out to try and get macro photos of the layer on white spreadsheets or I'd post something online.
Thanks for calling this out and surprisingly NO review has mentioned this (all say the display is beautiful). I went into Best Buy to purchase and looked at their demo unit. The Zenbook 14X OLED with Touch Display has a pattern on top of the screen which is very annoying, especially visible on light backgrounds, not visible during movies etc. Didn't buy because of that :(
Interestingly the first time I saw this laptop, I didn't even realize it. Second time, it was very visible.
@@someonesomeone6677it's obvious as fk, anyone not seeing it better get their eyes check cause they would not able to differentiate 720p to 4k if they not noticing the nets
