I’m 20 years old and in college. When I’m home for the summer all I can think about it getting out of my parents house. If my parents offered me 3 months rent in a furnished apartment words wouldn’t be able to describe how ecstatic I would be.
@@jessepolkjr7067 it’s because multiple reasons. After you go months living on your own. You feel like you can handle things on your own (true or not). Then you move back in with your parents and it seems like they are super controlling even if they are no different then when you left. Also yes, being able to live on your own, not have to worry about waking the rents up, come home whenever, cook food whenever… etc.
@@Conner-Mahon Right! Once you're on your own it can seem like they are controlling. Not bc you don't like your parents like your comment sounded. I totally get that. Who doesn't want to be an adult? Only thing guy wants to be an adult without doing adult things. 🙄
Please share your secrets. I’m in college right now and I’m almost 20 but I know that I have to move back home for the summer. All I want is to get out of the house, not just for my sake but for my parents’ sake too.
I left a month before my 18th birthday. Couldn't wait to get an apartment with my friend and be an adult! I had a little support from my grandmother who let me live with her while I went to college and pay very reasonable rent/ room and board. I don't understand how anybody can live like this guy and have an ounce of self-respect.
I was in his position at one point (at 28). I had my own flat and was paying a mortgage off on it but I had a period of depressions and alcoholism and went back to live at home. I only stayed there for a month but man I could see how easy it would have been to have just stayed there and let my responsibilities and life just fall onto their laps. One day, I woke up and signed on back to work and moved back to my place and started making to do lists and structure. It’s not easy but when you’ve been where this man has been and have enabling parents. It can be very easy to revert back to the comforts of being a spoiled teenager. But man, is it no way to live.
you can sleep here and you can eat one small meal a day here. if you want more then you get it. if the room is a mess youre out. if you eat too much youre out. if you dont have a job youre out, it you lose one you have 14 days to get another or youre out.
The fact that he seems to have no shame whatsoever when his lifestyle is being discussed and all he has is excuses and blames his parents, I don't think he's going to take advice from a life coach. I think he'll squander those 90 days
I moved out right after turning 27. Yikes! However, I was working full time, had no debt, my own car, my own car/health insurance, lots of money saved up, and moved out because I wanted to, not because I was being kicked out. I have a friend who is 27 now and still lives at home. His parents want to sell their house and move, but are struggling to find a house that has a basement for him to live in. Parents are to blame is well.
Although this guy is in a serious situation I have to admit it's kinda funny to see Dr Phil getting overwhelmed trying to deal with him at 10-11 seconds lol! 😅😂
I think it goes something like this - job, money, able to pay rent/get a mortgage, able to live independently. Problem is these days it's an employer's market, low-wage economy, banks aren't lending mortgages and young people are living at home due to the insecurity of wages and accommodation. I think everyone should move out at the earliest opportunity - 16-18 would be a good age - but there are , y'know, like homeless people on the streets and food banks. Most people don't survive entirely by themselves, they combine an income as a couple. Seems like the corporate state wants it all their own way - low wages, no support from the state re rent controls or social housing and no support from families either. Just sayin'...
I dont understand how a young man wont take care of him self, when I was 16 I worked full time since then my parentes never had to support me or my siblings, they did the same with work and education. I ,m baffled. I allso took an education while working full time. Its like american grown Kids dont understand this.
Is the disabled person causing chaos? People act differently in different situations. The parents seem tired of his poor decisions and the burden they are causing. I doubt they would have a problem with someone who is actually disabled.
Family is suppose to help teach other phil cant hate on him cause he one stupid mistake.need get on the parents for acting that way to family. Made a stupid call here phil

I left at 24 and a half, but only after I found a full time job.

He’s a hot mess!
That father is handsome!
LOL
This whole family has some kind of dependency....it is sick ....a vicious cycle. ..
That gives him 2 months to find a job and one month to wait for the pay packet! He's got a Brucie bonus!! 🤣
1 month to wait to be paid? I'm sure he can find a job that pays weekly, that doesn't keep his money for a month
OH THE PAIN IN THE FATHER'S EYES!!
It’s the dude from bar rescue!
What is wrong with these grown men who don't want to look after themselves??????
It’s strange that so many people in these situations are male.

he just needs john to scream at him and look in his eyes
