- In this video I will re visit Grosvenor Hall, as one of our "miniature family" commented to say that they had the same house, and would like to see in more detail, what John boy had done to the inside regarding false walls etc.
Hopefully this will offer some ideas for other folk who are thinking of doing the same to one of their own houses!
John has done such a beautiful job with that house! I love it! The two of you make a cracking good team! I love your stories. They always bring a smile to my face and a giggle to my heart. My daughter, when she was a small child, saw fireflies for the first time and said "Daddy!! Blinky-butts!!" LOL I was glad she was dragging her father to see them closer because I was trying to not fall off my chair laughing. Magic has to be believed to be seen. You saw a fairy in the twinkle of the elderly woman's eye.
Blinky-butts! Love it! I would have been sitting with you in hysterics 😂
And yes, there's nothing like having a belief in the "magical"! 🙏❤️
Wisteria is lovely outside in gardens and it hangs beautifully.
Yes that's very true. But not sure I'd be that good at making it! We saw one at a dollhouse fair in London and it was over £600! Because of all the work put into it.
Hello Rich- Charlie and I are happy that you are much better. We really appreciate the 'shout-out' about our home-town Poughkeepsie NY. You are in the 2% of non-Greek people who can pronounce my name. I made tiny handouts for the other 98%. Your fairy story has the best ending! Thanks to John for the charming house tour- those back walls really are neat.
Hello my lovelies! Yes I'm one of those people who DON'T think because they are white/English, that the world should revolve around them! I know that's a bit controversial (and I'm not usually like that) but it does annoy me when folk can't be bothered trying to learn how to pronounce things that aren't English! I really like to embrace the fact that there are so many different types of humans on our planet. It's always interested me, about how different languages/accents have evolved. And that we have so many different colours in the human race. It would be so very boring if everyone were the same! ❤️
Thank you Richard for showing what John boys done to the grosvenor house and glad you are on the mend..wow love whats hes done so many good ideas..and so many details going to have to rewatch a few times to take it all in..love the idea of having doors at the back leading into the garden going to do that and where he put a down stairs toilet but thinking making a little cloakroom and the idea of having an atic..love the pet parrots on the edge of the doors and the tiny keys still in the doors so many little details..tell John boy hes done a very good job and thank you for another great video..much love Sharon xx

Also Richard the story you told about the fairys there is a film called Fairytale A True Story with Mel Gibson init about the 2 girls Elsie and Frances it's a good film it shows how they fooled everyone into believing they saw fairys or did they..I would like to think they did x
@@Sharon12314 yes, I remember the film they made about the story. It was a lovely subject to use for a film. And I'm convinced there is more "mystery" on our planet. Humans and animals can't be the only living things! 🤔 xx

But I'm sorry you missed the bins! Our bins only make it to the street because I have a "John boy"! With his OCD he never forgets to do anything on time. If it were down to me, I'd spend my days doing my work and my home would fall down around me!!! 😂😂😂❤️

John boy did a wonderful job!!! Love your stories. I remember watching the movie about the Cottingley fairies. Such a lovely story. It is wonderful that you got to visit and help her out. Your story was lovely I remember those photo’s in a British supernatural mag back in the day. Lesley says Fortean Times. Wonderful fairy photos still have that innocent magical quality. Thank you for helping the lady so she could still go down to see her garden visitors you no doubt brought back such joy into her life 🤗

Johnboy’s house is wonderful & thanks for the lovely story - brought back memories from a book I had as a child. A sweet film was made ‘Fairytale : A True Story’ 1997 about it - thank you so much for sharing 🙂
Thank you Rachel 🙏 yes he was very pleased with the house when he'd finished it! It looks nice if the lights are on in the evening. And I forgot to mention the film, but after I had put the video on, I then remembered that I'd seen that film! A lovely film to watch 😊

A couple of years ago my son and I were in Starbucks and a complete stranger asked my son if he was “a gay”. My son immediately replied “no, I’m THE gay”. It's no body's business who ANYONE is! But I also can see the funny side of that, and if I'd been with both, I would have ended up in tears of laughter too! 😂❤️

Hello Diane, yes that's exactly right. The hoax wasn't revealed until they were old ladies. But one of the ladies said that the last photo (the fifth one taken) wasn't a hoax. And that photo looked different than the other ones they'd taken! So I suppose we will never really know the truth! 🙏😊

Yes, laughter always helps! John's house in the video was the first time he had made false walls. And I had put false walls in in my French house for myself. But yes, the second commission I'd done , I did put false walls in that as well 😊

@cluna6515 awww bless you! 🙏 years ago I wanted to try learning Spanish so badly. So I went to Granada for a whole month and stayed in student accommodation. So I learnt some basic Spanish in school there. Then when class was over, I would go into cafes, cake shops etc and just try and speak Spanish to help me learn. My most favorite cafe that I went many times was a simple little bar that just made Churros y Chocolate......I miss them so badly!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Iris 🙏 yes I thought John boy did a great job on his house. The fairy story became famous but it wasn't until the children were old ladies before they admitted it was a hoax. Except they still said that the fifth photo wasn't a hoax and couldn't explain the images in the background, behind the paper cut outs! So really, no one ever proved it to be a fake or real!
Loved the Cottingley Fairies story and can remember seeing the photos somewhere! It is lovely that the lady invited you in and gave you access to the garden and that you made it accessible for her again.
I have a question for you or Johnboy about some chairs in his Grosvenor Hall. What period do the very high backed wingback chairs originate from?
Just curious because I have never seen any like them before.

Yes it was lively meeting a relative of such a nice story. And the lady was so pleased it had made her day, so I was pleased too 😊
John boy's high backed chairs are from the Georgian period of 1780-1789. They were usually around 5 foot high at the back! Thank you for noticiing them 🙏😊

Hello Debbie, it's really a personal choice when it comes to colour, but if you get the Farrow & Ball shade chart, they have some lovely shades of off whites and ivory! I've used a shade called Dimity before, and it looks nice on a wall. But like I say, it's just a personal choice really 🙏
