I get all my dollhouses at flea markets for $20 to $30 and flip them to decorating them. No patience to build. I have to say your video is the MOST amazing one I have seen. I can relate to all the re-purposing, handmaking and all. I LOVE IT!

The dollhouse I’m working on now was built in the 1970s as something for my husband’s mother to do. It sat in a 3 season porch for decades then, when they moved twice, it went into the basements. My father-in-law offered it to me and I took it. It had never been touched. Built, siding stained, roof cedar shingled…that’s it. They’d bought some furniture - all Colonial stuff, milk churns and wells - but she’d never touched it. It’s coming along, but I’d like to compliment the 1970s for having the most eternally rugged glue of all time. It feels good not only having it and finishing it (I hope!) but giving it a life and I like to think that my mother-in-law, who I never met, approves. Even though I am making it contemporary and plan to re-purpose all the Colonial stuff….and painted it blue…

good for you! sounds like a wonderful project. We have a large collection of thimbles from my late MIL. who died before I met her. We are selling most, but I have about 30 that I kept to use as vases and decor for my dolls' house projects. Some of the thimbles are OOAK glass, so obviously made as conversation pieces rather than practical thimbles.

I wish I’d known about you six or so years ago! My mom had an extensive “house” in a custom made cabinet with a cabinet below for supplies and decor. Mostly Victorian with a few specialty rooms, the furnishings were purchased or hand made from friends, all over the country and world. She decorated for each holiday as well. No one in our family had a place large enough for it, It was the size of a wall plus the cabinet. After she passed, each room was meticulously packed with the intention of purchasing a room box and reassembled for distributing each amongst the family. Because I’m busy w job and school, I don’t have the time. All pieces are packed in a large tote. My mother would be sad. I will try to find you in person this summer! Can’t wait to see your museum - Bless you

I am currently working on the assembly of two Victorian dollhouses. I also drive OTR, so if I get freight coming that direction I would love to stop in and view the lovely items that you offer for sale, as well as see the awesome collection of dollhouses that you have on display. I am from Kentucky, and the town of Danville has a dollhouse museum that is similar to this as well.
I am always open to new places to shop at that carry realistic looking items in miniature 1:12 scale, as well as 1:144 scale.
    Wonderful video!💝

I'm not doing my dollhouse in all similar color scheme because I have so many different things I like I want to do each room differently. Also my theme isn't a Victorian family but rather a modern family that lives in a Victorian house, and likes vintage things, so some things will be vintage, but some things will be modern (like they'll have a computer) .

I loved miniatures since I was a child and went to Mott's Miniatures at Knott's Berry Farm. I started building (with my husband's help) and decorating dollhouses when I was about 55. I was obsessed. I bought Foxhall Manor and my husband put it together. It was HUGE. I started decorating it but never quite finished. I had a Street of Shops, toy store, bar, beauty shop. Started making my own bedspreads. pillows and drapes. It was the most fun I ever had. Unfortunately my health made it difficult to continue. I gave all my miniature belongs to my niece, an adult. She gave Foxhall Manor to her granddaughter, a small child. I have no idea what became of it and it makes me sad to think it is just a plaything. I had over $3000 into it and it wasn't even finished. I wish I had known there was a store like this.

It's so sad that them not appreciate the time and passion and of course the money that you had been put in it; That's the problem with some people that not take seriously that for many of us a dollhouse not is a toy...
I have been building my dollhouse for the last 5 years... my nieces come and always ask me to show them, them enjoy turning on the lights and I always say to them this not is a toy...

I just watched a couple of British friends that photographed the interior rooms of a dollhouse and ran an advertisement on the Airbnb website as a real house to rent, to see if anyone would fall for it and sure enough someone did and rented it one for one night. They listed their home as the address for the airbnb house and so when this unsuspecting couple showed up at their house, they had to let them in on the joke, that it was the inside of a doll house and that airbnb never caught it. But they were kind enough to provide the couple with a room at a 5 star hotel in an exchange and with a bar tab, so they were happy!....and returned the money the couple had paid airbnb.
Some of these doll houses are so realistic and the details are incredible.
ps...I guess that is why YT sent me this video after watching the above video.

I love your shop, the houses ars fantastic. I once owned a bungalow doll's house made by my daddy for my 5th birthday. Furniture and even a television with a small family photo inside which lit up along with room lights . It was later given to friends for their two girls. I would have loved to have it back. The roof came off for playing with. I have a couple of friends with a dolls house each wich they decorated etc. I bought my daughter a dolls house when she was little, complete with lights. I enjoyed shopping for small items to put in for her. In UK.

Wonderful video. So I am just getting started into dollhouses. I am unsure about dollhouse scale sizes. I myself am a very tiny guy (5'2") so I was thinking of doing a dollhouse at the 1:24 scale as I feel the 1:12 might be to big for someone like me...LOL. I have been trying to find a video or a photo online of a 5ft person standing next to a 1:24 scale house, prefer a house with 3 stories, plus an attic so really 4 stories. I also am unsure about material. I am told MDF is really bad and can get ruined very easily, and that the best way to go is with birch wood plywood that has been treated to make it easier to paint and without warping. I was wondering if you can tell me if birch is better than MDF? Also do you have a video of a 1:24 scale (3-4 story) house with a person standing next to it in any of your videos? Sorry if this was long, I just want to make sure I know what I am doing before I make any type of dollhouse purchase. so size...and material are basically what I am wanting to know. Thank you so much for your time and have a wonderful day.
P.s. I plan to fill my dollhouse with all the normal furniture, but for the "people" or the "dolls" I will be using rocks/crystals/gemstones/meteorites/fossils that have googly eyes on them, HAHAHAHAHA! I love rocks and it will be super cute to add my own little personal touch. May even paint the house all creepy like the Addams Family. Bwahahahahaha ***evil laugh, lightening strikes, thunder rumbles***

    • @maroulio2067
      @maroulio2067 Рік тому +1

I am your height and 1:12 is great- I just think smaller you lose so much detail. 1:12 for us means a doll just over 5 inches.(one inch equals one foot). I even use larger scaled pieces as I like the juxtaposition and rather magical look of it, rather than having something that looks completely real. I admire the Thorne Rooms, but as an artist I need like fun and surprising scale changes in the rooms. BTW, my largest 'house' is an antique bookcase that's over 7 feet tall w. 12 rooms, and 3 vertical glass doors.

    • @nathanielellis781

They are fairly easy to make. A carpenter or an architecture student could easily make one. Like he said one of them was built from a bookshelf. Then you could buy all the interiors on line to fill it with. It can be expensive so mostly rich folk had them here in the US.

WHY DONT U SHOW ALL THE ROOMS OF THE HIGEST MANSION DOLLHOUSE AND SHOW ALL THE DECORATED FURNISHED ROOMS IN SOME OF THE HOUSES INSTEAD OF JUST SHOWING FTONTBOF THE HOUSES???!!!! WHATS THE point of showing just the front of the house when we can't see how u refurbished or redecorated and rescued inside of the old renovated dollhouses???!!!!

Interesting, but very hard to listen to, with someone constantly saying "mmm hmm, mmm hmm " , and seeing the masks on people. Did any of the miniature people have masks? The miniature furnishings and household items are the coolest.

@@AmmaduLetsCookVantalu Yes, I understand. It's just that now we know that masks never worked, and we never had to wear them. But nice dollhouses, thanks.

Timestamp 12:23 Anyone else Google-map the address? Oddly enough I did let out a sigh of relief, thankful that it's still standing. I hope it lasts for many many years to come, not sure why I care but whatever its cool both the original inspiration for the doll house and the doll house itself are still looking great.
