- Suspension setup is like disc brake bleeds. Everyone seems to have a slightly different method of going about it and you are left wondering which one is correct. In this video, I show you how to go about tuning the suspension on your mountain bike following the typical, manufacturer’s recommended procedure. While I’m using a 2019 Lefty Ocho Carbon Fork and 2019 Fox Float DPS in this video, the process is similar for other brands and makes of forks and rear shocks. Watch the entire video to see one important step that is often omitted from suspension setup tutorials.

nice XC, must be pretty light with the lefty fork and without dropper.
…it is light at 23 lbs. But with only 100mm travel, 2.25” tires, no dropper and my Light Bicycle wheels, it can get twitchy over the technical stuff. Nice on the climbs, though. Shows how much XC race bikes have changed in five years. The pros are now running 120mm travel, full suspension bikes on pretty much all the XC courses now.
I read that someone built up the new Yeti ASR to 21 lbs., which bothered me. Had to weigh my bike for comparison 🤣. My Scalpel weighed in at 9.9 kg (21.8 lbs.) with saddle and pedals.
@@bikesbymikegreat, i like where the industry is going tough. These new xc downcrountry are awesome, heavier but you gain alot on the way down. The new Epic 8 is absolutely sick imo
@@ilgour Yeah. The Epic 8 is kind of the gold standard, but such a hefty price tag.
I think the RockShox Flight Attendant, or any other automatic suspension system that comes around, is a game-changer. It’s only 1st gen, so it has room for improvement, but it basically means riders will get a downcountry/trail bike with the climbing ability of a pure XC race bike. When auto suspension becomes the norm, bike brands are going to put 100% of their design effort into optimizing suspension relying solely on the auto lock-out to make it behave on non-technical terrain. My own personal opinion is that cable lockouts are a very clumsy way to achieve this.
