- Our friends at Damerells provided some bikes for us to take out and review. This week we took out the Honda CB1000R, one of the Neo Sports Cafe Series. (well, nearly the big daddy of the series).
This bike is amazing!

Your energetic description of the bike's structure and performance tells it all and will convince many who can afford it, to bring one home.
Excellent review!! Really enjoyed watching 👏🏼 looking forward to owning one very soon..
Really good review. Looking to your face with a big smile ... I'm seriously thinking to get one next spring🙂
I have had my CB1000R now for 1 week and have been able to use it on all types of roads in both rain and standard modes. Travelling at 70 mph (approx. 4,600 revs)on the motorway was comfortable and the ride was compliant suggesting light/ medium touring would be good to do, standard mode offered greater responsiveness than rain with delivery in both smooth and rewarding accompanied by a nice exhaust note(standard can). Obviously I am still running the engine in so do not know yet what the added value will be once revs go above 5,500 when the exhaust note and engine power changes but this is to come. You are right in stating that this bike is a gem. Interesting note is that mpg is continuing to increase and my bike is now registering 41mpg and is going up.
Good job guys for the quality review.
Had the bike on the testride last weekend and loved it. So will order it for the next season.
Ps: I would highly recommend the Akrapovič exhaust. The sound is just superb!
Best wishes, from Slovenia
amazing Aljaz, its a fab bike.. you will have many happy miles of riding im sure... ride safe buddy
Great review I’ve had mine 6 months now done 5000 miles it’s a brilliant bike the quick shifter is the best I’ve used including the latest BMW’s my average U.K. MPG is 53 MPG with a low 48 and a high of 56 brim to brim I put some sw moteck mirror extensions on mine which lift the mirrors up and out by about 1 inch (25 mm) now there perfect if it had a cruise control it would be perfect
Great review guys. I've never seen a vlogger get so excited about a bike. I have an older version of the CR1000R as my weekend ride. The new one is definitely on my list as a replacement.
coulnt help it, what a bike!
Hi brothers. Which one you choose if there is an option between this and a 2017 s1000r with carbon fiber wheels?
RiderCamTV would you recommend this bike for someone with 2-4 years experience with 250-400 cc experience? In terms of its displacement being 1000cc compared to MT09/ MT10 etc
Thank you!!
Here in Washington State, just went for a demo ride yesterday. We only get black, but 2019 will be red.
I found the mirrors not wide enough and some vibrations at motorway speeds. The side stand seems to be an after thought but everything else you described was spot on how I felt about the CB1000R. I stayed in Standard Mode on my ride.
The final out the door price here is $15,400 out of the door after freight, prep, doc fees, sales tax, license and registration.
I think I am going for it, such a nice machine with no competition in a mix of retro and modern tech. It was my first experience with throttle by wire and a single sided swing arm. We also have no Plus Option available.
Cheers!!
Hey Dale, thanks so much for the kind words, it means a lot to us both.
Great to hear that you are getting one and enjoyed it so much. What an amazing bike indeed! Ride safe on those amazing roads out there :)
Southern Honda of Chattanooga, TN has 2 in stock going for $9999 out the door.
Thanks for the review ..test riding one next week with the quick shifter
no probs, glad you liked the video. hope the test ride goes well :)
Very cool bike and great review!
hey matey, thanks so much for the kind words. glad you liked the review and awesome bike indeed :)
Great review. I like it a lot.
thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video. Great bike too :)
Honda looks like they have a fantastic new range off bikes.
Great buttery smooth review Toby sorry had to add the buttery smooth. Great job .
hahhaa, thanks matey. Made me chuckle :)
Great review, Toby. I really like this motorcycle. Could be my number 3 in the garage.
Thanks Frank for the kind words. It is such a great bike... wish i had the money for another bike ;)
Me too lol no 3 for me too ;)
A year later and I must say, might be #3 for me as well.
Go on Toby, push it into your garage. Nice for spin around town then to the cafe.
hhehehe, Russell, i'd love to but they might try and find me! haha
Another good review Guys and it is a nice looking although im not a big fan of the colour of the 1 you reviewed
thanks Lyn :)
I'd like to add a small fairing like the Kawasaki 900R, put on a decent horn a less bulky looking exhaust. Like the matt colour. Longer mirrors. Tyre grip?
Just when i thought i defo wanted mt 09 or mt10, this bike is too cool
i know the feeling, i love it too!
Same here. Since I saw this Honda I can't stand the look of an MT10
@@simonkamau634 haha, same here... pretty much all the other "teenage transformer" looking naked are a no-go now
@@jaromor8808 Ha that's spot on. Teenage transformer, lol
Honda makes t best riding machines, and every time they release a new model they somehow manage to improve it a little bit more
Any honda model you test ride for the first time feels like an old friend that knows all your little quirky stuff, lets u take t lead, and helps u to become a better rider, once u ride a Honda u know what quality machines feel like😎
with you on that one, great machines indeed!
@@RiderCamTV JUst bought one there before Christmas and took delivery yesterday - Thanks for the review. Looking forward to taking out when we get a little bit more daylight
Somehow I accidentally started the video at 6:25 and saw that arrow and thought you were going down a one way street the wrong way lol.
:)
Good review....I want a red one!!!
thanks for the kind words :)
I have a windscreen on my FJ--09 and was wondering if this bike needs one. Would you feel it needs one or is this an around town kinda bike?
have to agree with you, bike looks great... looks, power, light weight makes for a winner.
100%
Honda indeed not only makes the smoothest 4 cilinders (especially the CB1300, the 1100 air cooled engines are great too), but technically always the very best. I wish the gear box of my BMW’s were that good. Sometimes they say Honda’s are boring, I never agreed with that. Taste is a personal thing though, I don’t like the low plate holders.
agree with you there. lovely bike.... if only! haha
I test rode the old CB1000R about 9 years ago. Loved it and have wanted one ever since. It's a bike for perfectionists. Changing gears on that thing was the most enjoyable motorcycling experience I've ever had.
I am proud owner since 1 month. I love everything about it except for the mirrors, 50% I see is my arms. Other than that just perfect.
we found the same matey, congrats on the bike though as its incredible! Ride Safe
How tall are you?
Great review.THANK YOU!
thanks buddy, glad you liked the review.. ride safe matey :)
i suspect that this bike to pull so hard with that very long gears it must have 143whp and not 143hp..2 gear goes 200km/h just like gsxs1000....suzuki and honda started to say the whp and not the crank hp..and for taxes too. this cb1000r will blow the wheels of z1000
For me it would be between this/Ducati monster or a second hand diavel s
Can you review the triumph bonneville speedmaster if you get a chance
we will certainly see what we can do :)
“You wouldn’t believe how smooth it is” 😄 go on Toby, buy one, your a short time alive and a long time dead. Oh yeah, reds the best colour imho, the fuel tank is a work of art.
Seconded 👍🏻
that is very true indeed... you never know :)
We now know that
YOU HAVE LONGER LEGS
BIKE CAN DO 56 MPH ON BIG OPEN RD
WHAT'S THE HORN LIKE
Thank you
the horn on this one was ok at best.... mainly the same horn as many other bikes.... not loud enough :(
In person looks so much better
100% agree with you there
RiderCamTV I'm black person but oh wow the red is so nice.
That sir is not a beautiful can lol, first thing ive asked the dealer to remove along with the numberplate holder, other than that spot on bike
as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I love mine, but the seat is torture. It is a plank of wood. Well, it was until I did the gel insert.
It's 2018 how can they get the mirrors so wrong.
dont know, but wish they would make them bigger!
You're supposed to take them off the moment you ride it home and then add a tiny straight through slip on exhaust. It's got the cat still so you shouldn't have to re-tune and it won't be too loud.
I hate that this bike is so good yet has no cruise control at its price point I’ve got $14k burning a hole in my pocket but I know I I buy the 2021 black edition next years model will have cruise control so I’m going to ride my CB650R for a while longer and if it doesn’t have cruise control by 2022 model year I’ll be buying the ugly old MT10 because it actually has cruise control and that is something I want for the money because I’m commute on the highway daily on my bike and I’ve gotten tickets for doing 10mph and 12mph over so I really want cruise control on my next bike so I can just focus on what’s going on around me and not have to worry about speeding up on accident.
Beautiful bike. Kinda too strong for beginner rider like myself.
it is a great bike buddy, you could work up to it or even have it restricted until you were ready for the power to be unleashed :)
@@RiderCamTV Thx. I think a Suzuki SV650 is more likely a bike for me cuz it just have enough power for the highway and not too much that will get me I serious trouble
Why is it that only brits review this bike?!
If ever there’s a bike crying out for bar-end mirrors, this is it surely?
MotoBob, is that you? 🤔
Whatsoever
Is the quick shifter smooth
@@mcnutty701 buttery
It doesn't look good to me at all that exhaust is hideous to my eyes , Honda seem to have lost their way over the last 15 years with the bikes they produce, only the Africa Twin and Fireblade models seem to compare to other manufacturers offerings . I don't doubt the build quality of their motorcycles for one moment but desireabilty not for me I'm afraid.
each to their own :)
Don't agree that bike is one awesome looking machine exhaust nice design
I appears to me that Honda have been looking through the Ducati X Diavel sales brochure with covetous eyes... attempted to copy it by rummaging through various parts bins. The Kawasaki 900 RS looks much prettier to my eyes and a good bit cheaper. As Toby replied to my original comment "each to their own". I suppose they will sell a few in the immediate future but wouldn't be surprised if they are traded in next year when the novelty wears off .
You're supposed to take the exhaust and mirrors off. Need to fully expose the single sided swing arm.
lolwut? this is one of the best looking naked bikes in the marker, if not The Best Looking one
