    In recent Marvel comics it was revealed that Thor's mother was not Freya/Frigga, but Gaia. Fans were outraged, but, based on what you just told us, it seems Marvel rectified an error they made when creating their version of Thor and are now sticking more to the original myth.
    *EDIT: In even more recent comics they decided to change this once again, and now Thor's mother seems to be the Phoenix-force (the all powerful entity that once possessed Jean Grey, which led to 2 failed movies).

      @franklinbonnefoy2295 2 роки тому +2

      @@StarSeedAcademy8 That literally doesn't answer my question. Thor and the serpent only had two interactions. The first time the serpent had NO SAY in the cat illusion. The giant was trying to trick Thor and Loki so he put an illusion on the serpent. The serpent never agreed to this and as far as he knew, he was still circling the planet and was suddenly being lifted. Thor being mad at him for being a cat that couldn't be picked up was not his doing. Therefore, his second interaction with wanting revenge makes 0 sense. The serpent did nothing wrong and here Thor is just messing with him. I already know that the Aesir aren't the best of beings to begin with but this doesn't seem right to me. How are they enemies when neither of them were at fault the first time?
      I know attempting to put logic towards something like this is useless but I can't help myself. It's just.... Stupid. Almost as bad as the Greek/Roman mythology. Not as bad, but kinda. Like Loki's children being cast aside to avoid the apocalypse only to solidify the apocalypse.
      I guess what I'm trying to say is that I hate self fulfilling prophecy and stuff like this without a reason behind it

    • @StarSeedAcademy8
      @StarSeedAcademy8 2 роки тому +1

      @@franklinbonnefoy2295 What has to be understood is this is not the first incident between Thor & the serpent. Just as ancient civilizations there is always a serpent who is at war with the side that is for good for example Egyptian stories.
      I was simplifying it that the serpent is his enemy so it doesn’t matter whether the serpent appeared to know or not that it was part of the trick on him.
      Most of these stories are not to be taken literally, sometimes things are symbolizing energy, planetary events & other things.

      A lot of the “mythology” is not myth but real things either exaggerated or cartoonified so to speak so that the stories can be properly passed down in full & then those who know how to decipher can then do that part compared to trusting a bunch of cultures to remember detailed in-depth information, events or etc.

    You tell my favorite stories. The one about Magni is one of those. Actually I am fond of almost all of the stories I've heard of Thor, but I got a kick out of little Magni being so strong.
    I've always wondered why Heimdall didn't suggest Loki take on the form of Freya. We know he's a shapechanger. But I think now it's so he could better use his quick wits. If it was to have a laugh at Thor I think there would have been more funny business about the dress, instead it's addressed more like the BBWolf in Granny's night dress.

    Well in Marvel comic Thor is actually really son of Odin and Gaea/Mother Earth (in norse her name is Jord), so yeah in comic they actually keep many part of myth lot more intact, even red hair Thor is technically real in Marvel comic canon because red hair Thor is actually previous Thor from before the first ragnarok, yes in comic ragnarok is a cycle so there are technically two version of Thor (the previous one red hair Thor that came before the first ragnarok and the newest version blonde Thor after the ragnarok). But about Thor's birth mother is a bit became a bit tricky to pint point who she is because in Jason Aaron's Avengers run Phoenix force got reveal as the real Thor mother but again in newest issue in Donny Cates's Thor run, Thor appear to be actually Gaea/Mother Earth's birth son because in that issue Thor call out Gaea help and call her mother, in the end he regain the power to control earth. Well this is comic afterall retcon always happen.

      Yeah they basically merged the primordial earth goddess from Norse and Greek mythology into the same character. Which is why technically Thor is Zeus's Uncle since Gaia is Zeus's grandmother. And I think technically Gaia is The mother of all gods on earth. I believe Gaia is also Agamotto's mother.

    Greetings from Denmark, part of the origin of the lore. :)
    11:40 These 3 contests actually had the bystanders pretty nervous during all 3 of them. At the drinking contest, even though Thor didn't seem to make any progress on the drinking horn, the bystanders started to notice the water level drop in the ocean. The old woman (Ælde / Age) was down on one knee, and the cat (Midgårdsormen / Midgardsworm) actually lifted one paw from the ground. This tale is also part of the danish cartoon movie "Valhalla" from 1986, which actually has Tjalfe and Røskva as lead characters.
