After watching many of your videos.. I went camping in welshpool this week and sent mine half a mile out across the fields.. furthest I've ever been.. your previous videos gave me a confident boost... I waited until late afternoon for the wind to drop... I guess I didn't need to after watching this lol I got some nice little cinematic moves in and threw a video together for the family. It was awesome fun. Thanks Darren
A bit of planning helps. Determine which way the wind is blowing and when taking off, (when the batteries are at their freshest/stongest), fly into the wind. Then after doing your shooting and the batteries are lower, you can use the tailwind to help return home.
Hi Darren , great video . I live in Miami, Florida USA . I recently saw a video on UA-cam of the Mini 2 in winds of up to 40 MPH wind gusts, and it never drifted during the video. So , I tried my Mini 2 in winds of high 20's MPH , with gusts up to 36 MPH...and my Mini 2 was extremely steady , even as high as 100 ft . No problem ! The DJI Mini 3 has less capacity than the Mini 2 , Mini 3 was built for price . Almost seems like DJI took a step back on that model.
Beautiful footage! I can confirm that the Mini 2 is great in the wind. When I first got mine I didn't trust it, because the bigger drones I've had before would not cope with the wind well, but this DJI has never disappointed. I think it's a fantastic drone, worth every penny.
I just got my mini 2 just over a week ago, and silly me decided to fly it in high wind gusts of around 25mph, and I had no forward control in sports mode so I had to fly it home side ways with a wonky gimble. Honestly one of the scariest experiences I’ve had. I almost felt like a real pilot trying to land the aircraft safely while the wind is pushing you away so close to trees and roofs of houses. But I’m pleased with my flying skills so far and retrieved my drone.
I work on a ship and i flew this bad boy in the seas of Brazil , At first i was worried but i was surprised that it can really fly with strong winds. Kudos to DJi
I must admit I am actually blown away (no pun intended) by my my mini 2 whilst flying on holiday in Scotland and Ireland. It handled the wind really well and I had no serious issues, just like some people have said, it was bit hairy when I saw the strong wind message but the drone came back to me without a problem. Greta video from you as always. thanks again.
Thank you I hope you captured some great footage. It’s a great drone to learn on and see if you like the hobby. Then think about another awesome drone like the Air2S
Great road trip Darren. The wife and I did the same a few year ago when they had the heavy rain and floods. Darren, I have always flown my mini 2 in winds of up to 12 mph, or is that drafts lol. I have always been concerned of flyaways with the Mini 2, so after seeing this video I’m going to push myself and try it in stronger winds. I’m off to Skegness tomorrow for four days so we will try it out. Thanks again for your great tutorials. And yes I will be very happy on see more about how you take these great shots. Even if I pick the tiniest bit up from you it all helps. Thank you again for your time.
Thank you Wally for watching , yes the mini 2 can handle more than 12 mph lol, just be careful fly into the wind if you can , if you see it drifting or flying away for some reason lower altitude and put it in sports mode , have fun
I fly my mini 2 in the wind all the time. Idk what people are talking about it does fine. Yeah it goes a little slow and definitely chews threw battery faster in the wind but I've had it out in over 30mph winds and still it kept its position.
Darren, I just discovered this model this morning and was wondering about the wind capabilities, your video thoroughly answered my question. Your video also demonstrated the quality of the digital zoom. Digital zooms expand (enlarge) the center pixels, making the image look closer. This can cause fuzziness in the center of the video. I did not notice that in your zoom, thanks for demonstrating that feature as well.
I had my Mini 2 out over the sea on the west coast of Ireland and by no means was it blown around. And let's not forget that a bigger drone will require higher licenses in most countries, especially when flying around people.
After Newquay holidays I got gimbal error from these wind gusts on my mini 2, but DJI support done great job and I'm still flying. Best drone for my personal use. Great video ! Keep it up !!
Hi Darren. At about 6:24 minute, it looks like some light changes. Are you using in auto that shot? By the way that master class would be great! ¿Could you teach us video colorization? Greetings!!
Your recent videos have been so nice to watch, I love the quiet calm music with the drone shots in the background and you commentating over the footage.
Hi Darren, nice to have you down in my neck of the woods. You certainly get the winds down here. Your kid's look as if they had fun. Keep up the great videos. 👍
Another great video, and that's the reason I watch on a regular basis, Loved the footage/demonstration. The mini 2 is the king of the mini selection available IMHO I think the mini 3 will be the ultimate mini drone, can't wait to see.
This made me chuckle Darren. I was down there the same time as you, carried my mini 2 round in my camera bag but didn't fly it once because the wind was biblical! You've either got more money, or bigger balls than me - possibly both. 😁
I dunno what I like more, the Mini2 info you provide, or seeing the breathtaking footage you produce all over the UK. I had no idea you guys had such stunning beaches and landscape along the coast. In all my trips there I never got far outside London - it looks like I missed out!
Darren, General question (which I can't find an answer to).. what happens if the controller battery runs out, does the MM2 automatically return to home or are you in trouble? Not that you should let that happen of course but it's something that's never discussed, emphasis is always on the drone or phone battery it seems.
Yes it will, i mean if you have one bar on the rc get the drone back but worst case you don’t see it or hear the beeps the drone will come back to the home point
Darren really good video and some fantastic footage. Yes I would like to see a master class video on your techniques and drone shots. I’ve just bought my Mini 2 so I’m in the early stages of learning how it all works.
Flown the Mini 2 in high wind lots of times up here in Scotland with no issues, even had to put it up when the Phantom kept bringing props into the shot.
Hi Darren really nice footage as always , can I ask what version DJI app your using , sorry if you have answered before , I see there is a beta trial out at the moment just wondered if you are using or have tried . Thanks buddy.
I’m using 1.4.8 I don’t really want to try betas when using such a expensive drone but hopefully we will see a full release update very soon. IThanks for watching John.
Hi Darren, I'm thinking of getting the Mini 2, I regularly kite surf in Cleveleys at the promenade parking near Rossall School. Its in 22 - 24 mph winds. Do you think its possible to film with the Mini 2 in those winds over water?
Just bought my first drone this afternoon. Dji mini 2. Inspired by your videos. Got to get a lot of flying practice in I think. Just need to buy some sd cards, then I'll be ready to start filming. Your videos are great, very nicely done and very informative. Just about to subscribe 👍
I have had the DJI Mini 2 not be able to maintain level horizon a couple times with strong cross wind, but otherwise it flys well in wind of around 30 MPH gusts. I would not put up in much stronger wind. No doubt the Air 2s can cope with stronger wind, but in most conditions the Mini 2 is fine.
I recently learnt the more unnatural you make this drone look (skins, lights) the less likely a bird attack will be . A test maybe Darren? That would make a very interesting video!
You are my new favorite UA-camr in terms of DJI Mini 2 after SkyHighFilms ;) ... Admirations for your hard work and dedication about everything posted on your UA-cam channel ! When is your birthday ? You may receive gigantic surprise present from me something you've never seen before for your Mini 2. I'm sure you'll be so much surprised that you'll ... I'll leave it as surprise ;) Just let me know once ;)
I've finally found more courage to fly over water. In part, thanks to your courage and videos. Since I live at the NJ Shore I suppose that's a good thing, finally! I appreciate your videos. Thx.
Nice one Darren, I took my Mini 2 out today for my second ever flight. Just messing around with the controls and gimbal etc. The weather wasn’t the. Greatest, at first I was a little worried about the wind. After a while I took this little beast higher and higher being of wind direction so I could get back easier. It didn’t miss a step. If this is just a toy, it’s a bloody good one 🤣
Exactly people thought it was a toy due to the size and plastic ness but everyone who has flew with it soon changed that opinion. It’s a very good drone
Great footage once again. I was seriously considering the Mini 2, but I live in an area of Ireland that resembles Holland in terms of flat terrain and the wind has very little in its way in terms of forests or hills. That's one of the reasons I opted for the Air 2S. And that drone can get buffeted at times only about 10 meters off the ground. While you make a convincing case about the Mini 2, I don't think my nerves could have held up with a smaller drone than the Air 2S.
Yeah ive had no dramas, with mine shot down on southern coast of western australia in january and getting gusts up to 50kmh with only occasional wind warnings. generally just have to go down a couple of metres and comes good . i couldn't warrant paying another 1000 bucks to go up to the air 2 all it needs to be a pro unit is tracking 👌
Great video I have always been unsure about flying a drone in and wind with the Air 2 or the Mini 2 what you have shown is how capable they are but I still think you have to judge for yourself if your are comfortable flying in the wind or not
Love your videos and love Cornwall..took. my mini 2 a couple of months ago .. but weather wasn't great, Took some good shots of Holywell Bay where they filmed Poldark.. couldn't take any of Kyance because of RNA Culdrose near by :-( . Hooe you can do some of Porthcurno and the Minnack theater
Yes I went around that area it’s lovely , we are doing around lizard nest time you will have to ask permission before hand and on the day, most of the time it’s ok if a short range flight and you tell them
I do agree Darren my Mini2 has been flown in winds of 30-35 km winds with very good results My last two video's were filmed in those winds. I am satisfied with results. Have a look and let me know what you think!! Definitely interested in learning your editing procedures.
Going to risk the m6 north tomorrow, maybe Bassenthwaite, should be quieter further north.. if I can get an early enough start! Great video thnx for sharing!
Thanks a lot for showing us this interesting test of the 'DJI Mini 2' how it performs at a windy seaside - very helpful. I've already learned quite a lot from you in how to operate my 'Mini 2' in various situations. By the way, it's also quite astonishing to me that there are no restrictions of flying a drone over the beach and that many people. Here in Germany, beach areas are strictly prohibited to fly a drone. So, as it seems you're a lot more free in the UK - lucky you!
Hello, I wonder if the mini se performs similar to the mini 2 considering its using the same wind resistance with the same frame, motors and esc? thanks
But I can tell you for experience that even if you are able to fly it with does winds. The battery don't last that los cause is fighting with the wind. That why I end buying the mavic air 2 and with this one I'm really happy
Hello friend My DJI Mini 2 And the remote cannot turn on I buy it in May Use it a little in June and I Never use it again on tilI today i try to use it but it is not turning on What can I do please Can you help me
I flew my mini 2 in 45 to 55mph winds on few occasions and it was flying just as well level 7 drone. Usual altitude were between 130 and 500 feet. Battery lasted about 23 Mins so few minutes of battery 🔋 used to counter the weather. I know a guy in Colorado whom Flys in Blizzards in Rockies drone cuts through the snow ❄ damn well too. Straight winds can suck compared to multi directional.
@@DMProductions after watching this video I’m very surprised by how well it did perform in the wind for such a small drone I still like the added performance and stability that the 2s provides tho.
It’s really cool how this little drone can handle such strong winds. We’ve been up in winds way higher than the recommended conditions in the manual and only had the strong wind warning a handful of times. It’s a little stressful when over water like that but it’s always found its way back. Lol looking forward to the fog videos. Fog adds a different element and is pretty cool to capture. Nice job buddy!
Hey buddy, yes love the fog altho this fog came in like crazy looking forward to edit that ! Sometimes taking risks gets the best results at times lol, still no screen dim so that’s good !
@@DMProductions I stood on top of the mount pavillion in Fleetwood one morning... real pea souper at ground level, the clock tower was open and from the balcony there was brilliant sunshine and the lakeland hills were glowing!
Most of the flights of my Mini 2 have been with strong winds because i live in a tropical island...as soon as my mini reach about 30 meters altitud the strong winds warnings begin...but the drone can withstand it pretty good...only thing obviously is the battery drain faster cause of the fighting the winds.
Now then! Do you live in ‘Blackers’?? Lol. Hi from Staining. Been smashing the likes all over your channel thanks for all your work! I’m in a bit of a pickle. We’re going Scotland touring a lot of it constantly for 9 nights in Oct. I’m stuck between getting a mini 2 with this rumours of a 3, (miffed that deal you showed isn’t on now) and an air 2s. BUT it’s my first and I have to do the test you showed yet I presume if I get air 2s? I’m just gonna be gutted getting mini 2 and then seeing mini3/2s in such as Nov. It’ll be a crime to go without a drone though. Doing Isle of Skye and all over the place. Thanks again!
Yes you need a drone with you for that trip full stop ! Depends on budget , you could grab the Air2S as that won’t be updated for at least a year, places your going to don’t really need the a2cofc but it’s worth doing and you can get that ticked off in 48hrs easily. That way you have everything covered. Mini 2 is hopefully gonna be replaced in November so tough call buying it now ..?
@@DMProductions cheers! Didn’t get notification for some reason that you’d replied. I’ve no budget really. I just thought for a total noob I might cry all the way home having lost a £1300 drone somehow 🤣 but if I can make my own 3D printers etc I’m sure I can have a pop at it lol. There’s tons of mods on thingiverse to ‘pimp my drone’ 🤣
@@DMProductions btw I was looking at the air2s through your link 😉 and if you click on include smart controller, it’s £1299 but the pic shows the normal plastic grey controller? Could I get a bonus from a cockup here?? Lol.

My last two video's were filmed in those winds. I am satisfied with results. Have a look and let me know what you think!! Definitely interested in learning your editing procedures.
Link it buddy

Give that a try !!
Going to risk the m6 north tomorrow, maybe Bassenthwaite, should be quieter further north.. if I can get an early enough start! Great video thnx for sharing!
Yes some stunning places up there to fly ! Have fun
Fantastic drone, absolutely love mine
Awesome video. Great drone. Very interested in getting footage like you do, and putting it together.
Sure I’ll be working on putting a masterclass together in the future showing it all
Excellent
Thanks buddy
Thanks a lot for showing us this interesting test of the 'DJI Mini 2' how it performs at a windy seaside - very helpful. I've already learned quite a lot from you in how to operate my 'Mini 2' in various situations. By the way, it's also quite astonishing to me that there are no restrictions of flying a drone over the beach and that many people. Here in Germany, beach areas are strictly prohibited to fly a drone. So, as it seems you're a lot more free in the UK - lucky you!
With the mini 2 restrictions aren’t as bad 😊
Beautiful shots, and a great video. Impressive!
Thank you for watching did well didn’t it !
@@DMProductions the mini 2 is amazing
Hello, I wonder if the mini se performs similar to the mini 2 considering its using the same wind resistance with the same frame, motors and esc? thanks
It’s the same as the mini 1 I believe in everyday and the mini 1 didn’t have the same wind resistance I think it was around 5mph max less
But I can tell you for experience that even if you are able to fly it with does winds. The battery don't last that los cause is fighting with the wind. That why I end buying the mavic air 2 and with this one I'm really happy
Yes that’s true the Mavic series is a beast in the air and will get better battery performance
yes, this little "bird" really good in wind below 40 kph. no doubt!
Nice and smooth. Unless I missed it in the commentary, were you in 'sport' mode?
Normal for all that 😊
For sure me interested how you make the moves and the postproduction.
Fantastic footage Darren! It’s as there was no wind to contend with, so smooth and controlled! Would be looking out for your masterclass! 👍
It did really well in the wind !
It’s great in the wind.
Hi Darren what size and speed Sd card do you use , thanks great footage I used to live in Cornwall takes me home 👍sorry just found it down below 🤭
Hey I use a 128gb and a 64gb U3
I'm guessing you were flying with the Lipo and yet I'm curious how much less power you might have had if using the Mini's Lion?
I can fly a piece of fpam called a sports cub, and radian, its totally fun in wind, sounds like you need to get a non gps craft and fly one
Hello friend My DJI Mini 2 And the remote cannot turn on I buy it in May Use it a little in June and I Never use it again on tilI today i try to use it but it is not turning on What can I do please Can you help me
It won’t turn on? Fully charged ? Maybe send back to exchange
Love the travel video tour!
I’m the new Judith
today i will use it^^
Thank you, sir.
Thank you for watching 😊
I love it! Great footage.
Appreciate the love
Did you had any wind warning on the drone tho?
Yes a few times but it’s still more than capable
Yes it is get an air 2s if you want to fly in heavier wind.
Yes Air2S is a beast, but this holds its own too
@@DMProductions after watching this video I’m very surprised by how well it did perform in the wind for such a small drone I still like the added performance and stability that the 2s provides tho.
@@DMProductions that’s awesome, Darren. I haven’t flown enough yet to say but so far same here. :) that was a great tip
@@DMProductions I stood on top of the mount pavillion in Fleetwood one morning... real pea souper at ground level, the clock tower was open and from the balcony there was brilliant sunshine and the lakeland hills were glowing!
Ah yes that would be a good shot !
Just amazing 🤩 🙏🏼
Thank you very much
Most of the flights of my Mini 2 have been with strong winds because i live in a tropical island...as soon as my mini reach about 30 meters altitud the strong winds warnings begin...but the drone can withstand it pretty good...only thing obviously is the battery drain faster cause of the fighting the winds.
Lol.
@@Mr_Gadge lol you could Amazon it’s their link. It’s still live tho £999 for fly more combo
Love Cornwall enjoy cheers from OZ.
Thanks a lot
I love Cornwall!
Nice isn’t it ! Hard not to get good footage
Great video sir. Yes very interested in the next video about putting it all together.
I Love DJI Mini 2. Suche a little Beast. I wonder how it will react in the FOG???
We will see soon 😛
I love your intros ! 😂
Great aren’t they!
Whisper is coming soon 😂
thanks for the nice review
Darren - What's with the @Phil Skraba impersonations mate? 🤣Enjoy your content though - particularly when you are being you....Keep up the good work
Haha he’s a good friend, we both love a radio voice and I like winding him up 😂
I found it to operate fantastically in a moderate wind...
Yes it’s good enough it’s a decent drone
