I've just had my first flight an hour ago with my 2 SE and had a panic moment when I pressed RTH and saw the drone fly upwards not realising it was set to 100m. Brought it down and decided to check out RTH settings on YT and found this. Thanks for the info. Reassured a new pilot (UK). Took it back out and forgot to put an SD card in. Managed to see 10 deer in the field next to my home. Typical ha.

Thanks for the video. I watched this last night and today I went out and tried these tips. I wasn’t able to do the return to the controller because of my surroundings but I was successful in getting it back each time. I had a bit of trouble previously but today no problems at all, thanks again
Just wanted to say thanks, Marcus, for making informative and helpful videos such as this. Your channel was a heavy influence in my choosing of a drone and most importantly, in starting a channel featuring its work. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I truly appreciate what you do 🤙🏽
Hey. I am thankful for the return to home function, especially this past week. I flew it over a beach and let's just say I nearly had a heart attack. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for the content and hard work.
Bought my Mini 2 SE 2 days ago, can't wait to fly it this weekend thanks for the extra info. On your return to home with the signal loss I think you changed it from sport to normal just before it wanted to land causing the cancel. Will watch all your tip vids they are very informative
Wow!! What a great video! As a newer drone pilot, this video really helps put my mind at ease knowing that my drone actually wants to RTH. DJI pretty much makes it idiot proof (good for me) for new pilots.

Thanks, Marcus. I got my mini 2 today and took her for her maiden flight around my neighborhood.. I changed the RTH from my backyard to the front yard ... lots of good info... let me know when and if you want to fly together and I'll be there.
Brilliant video. It really helped me understand the main RTH features and operation. Really like the real time commentary and real time exercise's. Great work!!
Very much appreciate your video, thank you. The only ONE question I have on the RTH is: If the Drone tells me Return Home promptly, "is it better to let it return to home by pressing the Home Button, or, would I use less battery by returning it home flying manually. And if flying manually home, is it better to use setting normal or flying it in Sports mode?"
Great Informative video! RTH is scary if you are trying to fly under a canopy of trees. I am in an area where there is plenty of room under the trees to fly but if were to go into RTH for some reason it would fly up into the tree limbs and possibly be stuck. So the Descend and Hover setting look nice, but it is nice to know that RTH won't even work if you are casually flying within 20 meters. I wonder if the 20m limit would still be enforced if the signal drops...
When flying under a canopy of trees, you would want to set the drone to hover upon loss of signal rather than RTH. Once you regained signal you could then fly the drone home.
Great video, thank you. Question. My Mini 4K automatically RTH once my battery gets around 50% but I see your done doesn't. How do I stop that from happening at 50% with my drone?

Thanks for the refresher, Marcus. Most I already knew, but it was good to reiterate it to my forgetful mind. I did not know that the drone would spin around to face toward Home, and then travel 50 meters to try to regain its control signal. Does the drone RTH in Normal mode, or does it over ride the current mode and just use Normal speed? I suspect the latter since Normal speed is probably the best ratio of watts used to distance covered. Keep up the good work!

I fly from shade . Hehe take off in shade . So I just rth until I can hear it or see it and then land it out away from my shade tree. Or move home out to open after take off. Literally hundreds of flights on 3 different minis. Never had rth problems. Fly at night too Fly with map screen only. Rth works. Drone always sends back true gps data. To map screen. Sweet little drones.
Nice tutorial Marcus. I have a question, does RTH work any differently in Mini 2 SE, as opposed to the Mini SE? Great video Marcus, and thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Ron. The SE comes home at 8 M/S and the 2 SE comes home at 10.5 M/S. Additionally, I do not think the SE backtracks 50 meters upon loss of signal like the 2 SE does.
Marcus, I bought DJI Mini 2 SE just a week ago and as you can guess, I am in the beginner's learning mode by watching videos like crazy. I particularly like your videos because they are very educational full with details and on top of that, your tone is very relaxing. I am still struggling with my landing process and this video has been particularly very helpful in my getting over my fear of crash-landing. Great job and more please for us noobies. One question - How similar are Mini 2 and Mini 2 SE in terms of flying and landing the bird? I see a lot of Mini 2 videos when I search for Mini 2 SE but not sure if I should spend my time on Mini 2. Are they very similar? What's your opinion? Thanks in advance for responding.
@@IdahoQuadcopter It does. Thanks Marcus. Now I know I won't be wasting my time. One last question, if you don't mind. Since I am still phobic about somehow losing my drone (not that it should happen because I'm extra, extra careful about not doing anything stupid), how smart or stupid is the idea of sticking an Apple Air Tag on top of it? And if it is not a bad idea, any word of wisdom or warning? Thanks Marcus. Appreciate your help very much.
I believe that what you did that prevented the drone from coming down for a landing is to move the gimbal. If you read the manual for the drone, it tells you that once you initiate the return to home program not to do that. I suggest you try it both ways so you'll know for sure.
Hello sir, I have a problem with my Mini 2 SE, when I activate the RTH feature, it rotates back to the "Home" position BUT starts ascending in its own axis nonstop until I cancel the RTH haha. Do u have any idea of how to fix it??
ive just got a brand new dji 2 mini se and im only getting 20mins down to 20% battery life, hovering in the house without recording 4k but the 4k feed is on the tablet screen, this cant be normal can it, 100% reads 8.66 volts instead of 8.80volts, or 4.33v each cell, it seems low to me, my battery arrived 6 months after manufacture date printed on box, battery was dead (no blinking lights) when pushing power button. is that normal too, thought it would have had atleat 2 flashing lights out of 4?
@@IdahoQuadcopter a quick update to all you new drone pilots, just took out my drone for its second flight, and i got 25.40 mins of air time flying everywhere in strong wind! flying battery down to 10%, so like idaho quadcopter said, the first charge is just waking up the battery out of hibernation and you wont get much flight time, i wish they would of put that in the manual because i almost sent it back!

I agree, when there are overhead obstacles, hovering in place may be the best choice. Thank you, Richard!
normally it's not paying attention to the drone and paying attention to the screen

With regard to flying and landing the Mini 2 and Mini 2 SE are virtually identical. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching!
@@sunilsinha7905They already have GPS to track it if its battery low and it shows on map
@@sunilsinha7905also they are both the same drone just 2.7k cam on 1
@sunilsinha7905 1 other difference is the mini 2 has a customizable colour light and the mini 2 se has no front light
I believe that what you did that prevented the drone from coming down for a landing is to move the gimbal. If you read the manual for the drone, it tells you that once you initiate the return to home program not to do that. I suggest you try it both ways so you'll know for sure.
Thank you. I'll check that out!
I'm pretty sure it's because he switched it into "Normal" mode.
Excellent video, thanks
Thank you very much!
Hello sir, I have a problem with my Mini 2 SE, when I activate the RTH feature, it rotates back to the "Home" position BUT starts ascending in its own axis nonstop until I cancel the RTH haha. Do u have any idea of how to fix it??
You need to set the RTH altitude in the Fly App. 👍
SE is the best first drone that isn't going to break the bank.
I agree, it's a great little drone!
Seems the general consensus...
ive just got a brand new dji 2 mini se and im only getting 20mins down to 20% battery life, hovering in the house without recording 4k but the 4k feed is on the tablet screen, this cant be normal can it, 100% reads 8.66 volts instead of 8.80volts, or 4.33v each cell, it seems low to me, my battery arrived 6 months after manufacture date printed on box, battery was dead (no blinking lights) when pushing power button. is that normal too, thought it would have had atleat 2 flashing lights out of 4?
DJI ships their batteries in sleep mode. The first charge wakes them up. I'd say 20 minutes is about right for flight time. 👍
thanks, so they should improve over the next few charges then?
@@IdahoQuadcopter a quick update to all you new drone pilots, just took out my drone for its second flight, and i got 25.40 mins of air time flying everywhere in strong wind! flying battery down to 10%, so like idaho quadcopter said, the first charge is just waking up the battery out of hibernation and you wont get much flight time, i wish they would of put that in the manual because i almost sent it back!
how do you get the criss cross centre line on the drone camera or phone
Turn on gridlines in the Fly app. 👍
Awsommmmmmeeeeeeeee review Marcus.
Thanks very much for the tutorial found it very useful Michael, England
Thank you, I'm glad you found the video helpful Michael.
OK got a new video all right Marcus, let’s get that bird in the air
Thank you Robert!
I have a question what phone do you use that is on top of your controller Thanks
I use and iPhone. 👍
@@IdahoQuadcopter The reason I was asking my phone will not download the dji go fly my phone is out of date and I payed $446.00 for the mini2 se fly more combo iphones are expensive I did some research on the dji go fly and they have a small list of andriod phones that are compatable with the 2 mini se dji go fly download one is the galaxy a54 which sells for $299.00 new which is a good phone I need a new one any ways so it should work Thanks again
I can't get the return to home to work on my DGI Mini 2S. E
Is RTH working without helipad sir ?
Yes, RTH works with or without a landing pad. 👍
@@IdahoQuadcopter wow thanks a lot for the answer 😁
Awesome video!!
Thank you for watching!
Watching this video after buy 1 this model for my next video for youtube.
It is a good choice. The video quality is amazing.
👍👍✌️ DJI only way to go
You're not wrong! 🙂
Thumbs up, Marcus. 👍
I appreciate it George!
What an awesome drone and it even works with Litchi now. Thanks for posting this, your videos are always relaxing to watch.
Thank you! That's good to know.
The 2SE works with Litchi? I don't really think that is correct
@@olabergvall3154 You are correct, I misread what was on the list.
What size is the landing pad?
I use a 25 inch pad.
Brilliant thank you recently got a 2se and been to places where’s just grass to take off and land but I wasn’t sure what size pad would be ideal for this drone 😄
Great Video, Marcus. Helped a lot. I went today for my first flight but after your video I feel much more comfortable exploring around. Cheers!
Thank you, I'm glad you found the video helpful.
I don’t understand though, they claim you can get 10km range from the drone. How is that possible if his lost connection after 1km
I purposely flew the drone in such a way that it would lose connection for demonstration purposes. 👍
I wonder why my mini 2se says no gps and tells me to fly safe - it says 9 satellites around me but gps still not available
It typically teks 12 satellites before the Mini says it's safe to fly. 👍
Do you think this is the same as DJI Mini SE?
The Mini 2 SE has a different transmission system and other upgrades. Here is my video of the original DJI Mini SE. ua-cam.com/video/N9P60rvxWjQ/v-deo.html
Thanks!
Thank you very much! I so appreciate it.
My rth is set to 150 meters..my drone was about 15 meters away at 10 meters high and the silly drone tried to climb to 150 meters..I was expecting the drone to return to home at the current height..well I just lost a drone cause it climbed and hit the power lines before I could hit canceled..
I'm very sorry to hear that. It's terrible to lose a drone.
@@IdahoQuadcopter yes sure is.. Lucky for me I had insurance I hope they would replace my drone.. I'm currently on vacation so when I get back to Miami FL I'll file a claim 😩
How do you change meters to feet
Is this a serious question? Google has a great converter.
My mini2 se when using update home point it shows a different map not able to set controller
I’m not sure exactly what your problem might be, but I can say that you need to have a data connection for the maps to download and work correctly.
Which sd card do you use ?
Sandisk Extreme
Thank you.
Sorry for the questions. But I got basic package. How do you store/carry the drone without damaging propellers ?
I love how he said on the fly get it fly. I know it's extremely corny but I just I thought it was funny. I don't know if he intentionally said that or if he set it without realizing. The joke he unintentionally made.😂😂😂😂😂😂
