This is haute. Is shows what a fashion house is capable of, because they don't get to use all of their artistry in ready to wear. Ready to wear is clothing that is sold to average consumers and what people think of as "normal clothes". To each their own, but haute shows like this give the artist room for expression. Enjoy it in the way you would theatre.

This is proof that "high fashion" has evolved into wearable modern art installations. There is nothing wrong with being dramatic or alternative with your clothing. But when your clothes are big enough to invade someone's personal space when you are standing 5 feet away from them, you may want to reconsider the outfit. Edit: I know that these clothes are not meant to be worn. I just find it stupid that fashion designers display crazy ridiculous things on the run way and then their real designs that are meant to be worn are totally different. This kind of display feels like false advertising and it is becoming too normalized. It makes more sense to display the actual clothes that you design rather than create something crazy just to get attention and then do a 180 on the real designs. It's like their all trolling eachother.
Modern big fashion designers make their money from reputation. Whether good or bad. Best way to get famous quickly? Generate press. Best way to generate press? Be as absurd and wacky as possible. Your crazy show is in the news, making you in high demand because you're newsworthy, if a celeb wears your clothes then they catch some of the windfall of journalism surrounding your crazy fashion show, it's symbiotic. Everyone catches on and is now making absurd clothing so now your absurd clothing looks boring in comparison? Go even weirder. It's unfortunate but not many are building a reputation at a fashion show with crazy clothing. It looks so stupid. But they're playing a game. It's the same with beauty standards, they get more and more exaggerated as normal becomes too "plain" in comparison. Sorry, just realised I sound a bit like a conspiracy theory nutcase. It’s Haute Couture. You’re forgetting the time and craftsmanship that went into this. These designs are made-to-order for private clients, have at least 15-20 people working on them and should be original designs. The fabrics used are very high-quality. Majority of these are created by hand that are only a few reason that’s why they are expensive. And even if you still don’t understand why things are the way they are, that’s fine. It’s not like we can afford any of these anyway. You can either admire them or just move on.
