Unfortunately I also have a Cruze.
Fortunately I’ve found your videos.
Thank You for taking the time to post these. God Bless.
Changed mine today! Car almost over heated saving me thousands of dollars . Thank you so much bro💯🔥✊🏾❗️
I used this video today to change my water pump and thermostat on my 2012 Chevy Cruze with 197,000 miles. Thank you. Was a huge help!
How does she run with that mileage I’m closing in on 150,xx
I'm actually in 190 k and runs great
I’m at 216,000 miles now. No issues. My car runs like the day I bought it. I change the oil every 6k miles, changed coil pack. Hope to get another 10 years out of it.
Quick tip when removing the bolts from the old pump lay the new pump in on top and place each bolt on the same spot as the old one that way you can have a reference to where they go
I knocked mine over, I don't know where they go now!
Neil St Clair I feel terrible for u sir
Draw the pump on cardbord and poke the bolts threw in the correct spots then u have a movable holder for ur bolts
or you can use a cardboard with a drawing of the pump and stick them tru
This is exactly what I did when I replaced the pump on my daughters Cruze POS, the bolts are different sizes and an easy tip to get them all in the right place.
I have a Sonic but this is the same engine so I'll be attempting this tonight. Wish me luck. I'm sure I'll be watching portions over again.
May I ask how long it took you?
@@xyvtyv 4-5 hours altogether. I took my time because I didn't want to make mistakes, and I had to run to the store a few times. Make sure you get the torque to yield bolts for the engine mount because once you remove them they are garbage. You can't reuse them.
VERY COMPETENT Mechanic. GREAT VIDEO GREAT job Well done. Thank YOU!
How can somebody be competent when they don’t hardly understand what they are saying...

Thank you for this u -tube which shows the procedure in detail! Thank you so much!
Just watched this in Canada... have seeping around the pump/thermostat area. Great video to show the overall job. Anyone watching should make sure they get the delco pro part. Some of the aftermarket ones use a plastic/composite bearing housing. I would recommend to replace the thermostat assembly too, since it is all plastic, will take like 5 minutes more, and you already drained everything. For a thorough overhaul of these components, the plastic outflow fitting on the driver side of the engine should also be replaced if any one of these items is being done at 80,000 miles or more. This is also a good time to replace the serpentine belt.
Man how can i send this guy a gift card for a steak dinner for 1. Dude you just saved me a $1000.00 from Munday Chevy. Parts cost $135 and it took me an hr to do the job. Thanks

Hey, thanks for the vid! Mine is seeping, I know its covered by warranty, but for $75 its not even worth letting the dealer touch it. Gonna do a DIY soon.
I have 2016 Chevy sonic 1.4 turbo LTZ and its a little different but real close only thing for sure the exact same is i'm changing my water pump too after 42,000 miles the quality from Chevy is awesome!!!
Good job, God bless you, anyone who can change a water pump on a chevy cavalier i mean...Cruze, should go to heaven

If you're going to use an 8 mil on the inverted/external torx bolts, it has to be a 12 point 8 mil

Nice work in the change water pump
Clean job, detailed. Very helpful, thank bro. Great video!!
I have the same model I change the head gasket and thermostat and I still have the problem when my coolant water overflow but not overheating
I like your job men.
2011-2014 cruz
2012-2014 sonic
With 1.4 engine
Leaking water pump is still under warranty! 10 years/150k regardless less of owner. Take it to Chevy have them fix it for free and get your complementary rental while they fix it!

Like this so everyone can see it.
Good video but the bolts are all Torque To Yield. I don't think it's really a big deal to reuse them, but GM pumps come with new bolts.
Is there an inspection point weep hole that's easily accessed and visible?
Nice work. Thanks for the video.
I have a Chevy Cruze 2011 ltz really giving me problems it’s leaking the antifreeze a lot lately these cars have a lot of problems 😓
Did the thing chirp all stupid from the belt/pull?
Great job! can u do a video with a front and rear seal on a chevy cruise 2013 LT
Thank you so much, very helpful👍
My buddy and I made this a drinking game. A shot for every "alright". We made it to 6:16
🤣😂🤣🤣 alright alright 👈 drink those shots for me lol
i like motors where the water pump is not driven by timing 😁
I broke the cam sensor connector when pulling off the pump so be careful. Maybe remove it first, it comes off easily.
Great vid bud, helped out a ton!!!
Would've likedto see why you needed to change the water pump what was the car doing?
It was leaking coolant from the water pump
thank you for your vid was good
Only engine coolant orange dexcool
The owner is so cheap to buy the orange antifreeze. The green one is cheaper price than the orange dex cool. The green antifreeze is no good for the radiator. It’s going to make the radiator leak in the long run.
Yikes, this looks very time-consuming. I do not have this issue yet on my Cruze but I've heard is a common issue on these cars so I'm mentally preparing myself so when the time comes I know how to do it. Thank you
I have a 2014 Chevy cruze with 60k miles and it's leaking now I have to replace it
robert myers mine’s is a 2013 with 87k miles but no issues so far thankfully
@@r8myers my 1st one went bad at 56k it was under warranty so dealer fixed it. Now I have 82k and it's leaking again. 2014 Chevy Cruze eco 1.4l.
@@hoffmanbmxbikerider I did end up replacing my water pump took me 4 hours
@@r8myers I'm gonna have to tackle mine myself too this time. Dealer said 800 dollars for a GM pump with only 2 year warranty. Napa sells a new pump for 75 bucks lifetime warranty
Amigo que torque llevan los tornillos de la bomba de agua ?
71 libras
Helped me out a lot bro...job went nice and smooth
What problems were u having ? Mines is a coolant leak right from that water pump area... All hoses are fine I'm wondering if it's the water pump I have to change ?.
Leaking coolant from the water pump
Just take the water pump off and then take the hoses and thermostat off afterwards
thanks and great job very usefull
I changed my thermostat last week and flushed the coolant and refilled and I still run hot on idle…when I rev the engine on idle the temp goes down. I have no leaks or sounds coming from the water pump area…can it still be a water pump failure?
@Christian I’ve done that 5 times…I am getting the P0420 code…would a bad catalytic converter cause pressure in the cooling system?
Awesome job
Thank you
No RTV gasket sealer?
You dont need it
It looks like the water pump gasket was coated, so you do not need it.
So you don't got to mess with the timing belt when you do the water pump
No not on this
Very Good 👍🏻. Thanks!!!
Are the 1.4l water pumps ran off serpentine belt or timing chain?
serp belt. as shown in the video
Is it front or behind the timing chain
The front
So when taking off the timing belt there’s no marking that are needed ?
I did not take off the timing belt this car doesn't use a timing belt it use chain the belt you see me took off is call a drive belt or serpentine belt and no you dont have to make it you just need to know where i run so i would recommend you draw a pattern of the belt on a piece paper before you take it off so you can put it back the same way when you finish
Great Video Thanks - Any chance you want to change mine? - A chance to come to California LOL - My car only has 40k on it, its a shame its leaking already.
Do you mess with the timing belt?
No i didn't
It's not a belt. It's a chain
Hello I need help the hose that u said your gonna take off after u take off pump it's leaking about 3 inches away from my pump do I still need to change pump? Or the hose and if I should change the hose can anyone tell me the part number for the hose my cruze is a 2011 chevy cruze Lt 1.4
If the pump not leaking you should just change the hose you some be able to get it by describing the location of the hose to the parts guy
Did all this last week and it still leaking any idea why
Where is it leaking from
I think from factory they put sealant on the bolts. I would use some around the gasket. Not my normal practice but for the high failure rate of this part I would
Check thermostat housing...coolant reservoir and rubber hoses
I took My car to Reed's Chevrolet..and paid All that money.. they changed my Val cover gasket and it's steal leaking oil All over my serpentine belt..my belt broke which caused My car to run hot..I had to have it towed right back to the Chevrolet Place which then cost me more money and it's still leaking oil I have to go back Friday..any ideas.. I know one thing...no more money will leave my pocket
