Transfer case in my suburban 2500 makes 2 loud smelling noises inside transfer case. So intense you can feel it on the ground around the vehicle. And then goes back to 2hi. And that’s only when I try to go to 4lo. 4hi works fine. And since that happened I have a serious vibration going up hill and when I turn. When I turn it is accompanied with a clunk. I had my torque converter replaced a month ago. And before that my 4x4 worked fine.
Some 2004 2500HD had the 246 as well. 6.0L 4l80 np246, never had an issue, I had it in auto4 for 17 years straight, never had pump rub, so maybe it isn't a 'will happen' issue, but helps advertising
Had my mechanic check the clean, rust free, '04 Z71 Burb, 198 K before I bought it. Had the small hole where the clip sits, it was half full of oil so I bought it and having it fixed now. The rebuilder said it's a Jasper rebuild which isn't good and been welded before. Rebuilder is doing what he can and J-B the hole thinking it will last a few years while I find another to replace it. I haven't brought it home yet and hope this will be a good rig to travel and use for a long time.
My transfer case in my 2010 GMC has been ok. Knock on wood. I am planning on servicing both front and read differentials and the transfer case with fresh AMSOIL fluids this weekend. I’ve never done this service prior, but it looks ridiculously easy and I was quoted $800 from a shop to use shop grade bulk fluids. No thanks. 😂😂😂
I rebuilt the NP246 on my 2007 Tahoe 5 years ago, about 25,000 Km since. At the time, I replaced the rear case half and installed the case saver. The problem I am experiencing now is the clutch is NOT slipping at all. When in 4wd, the front and rear are locked together pretty tight. Serious tire scrubbing when turning and I can really hear the front diff complaining from the gear train straining. What can I do to get the clutch to loosen up? What can I pour in there to encourage some slip? Yes, it has and always had blue autotrakII in it.
I see a T-Case rebuild in my future but a quick question. If only running in RWD, can I put the rebuild on a short delay and keep driving around as long as there is fluid? I have a small leak and am not sure how the previous owner took care of it. I replaced the input shaft seal and it stopped the majority of the leak already . Thanks!
I wish i had come to youtube earlier. Mine goes low, but i dont see any fluid marks where i park.. And, about last summer, i got in and started the engine. When i put it in drive, and when it just started moving, i heard a noise under the truck. It literally sounded like a transmission just dropped. I looked under the truck and didn't see anything. But i still wonder what i broke underneath
I have a 2018 chevrolet traverse suv. How easy is it to service the transfer case if there's a leak? And what parts do I need to make it less likely to leak in the future?
What the chances my 2001 gmc sierra won’t move because of the transfer case it shot ? It had no fluids so I refilled it but now my truck won’t move untill it hits almost 2500 rpm’s in drive or reverse.
How do you remove just the cover I have taken all the bolts out all the wires off all the harness everything got it loose there's a half an inch Gap but will not pop off
I'm sorry to bother you brother I just want to know how that cover comes off I have taken all the bolts out all the wires clips harness everything even the module but I cannot get it off there's a half an inch Gap already between but it will not come off
I don’t understand I put the case saver and my snap ring just won’t seat. I push tone wheel but won’t go far enough for rear snap ring to lock-in place
Can I drive it without the front drive shaft attached? 03 Yukon 4x4 is the vehicle don’t have the money for a transfer case as this is my daily any temp fix?
What do you think taking the drive shaft off is gonna do? The transfer case always spins no matter what gear you're in or 4wd or 2wd it's always spinning
What other transfer case can I put in my 02 chevy tahoe? Mine is all jacked up and I have bought 2 different ones that ended up being piece of shits as well. I want to put an upgraded case that's stronger in it. I found a guy selling one who said it was a 246 but when I went to look at it it wasn't the 246 and the only tag I could find on it said daewoo I found some part numbers on it looked it up and it showed it was for a 2014 Chevy Silverado and that's the only year it show that it came in. From the outside looks like a better case but hell I don't know. Is there any way that to make it work? Also seen a guy on one of the forms who sells a transmission output shaft that you put in the transmission and you can bolt up a heavier transfer case off the 4L80
Hello good video, thank you for sharing this message, I have a 2004 chevy suburban z71 and the Transfer Case one day released all the oil. I have never used it again .... at the moment it has pots and I will need replacement of the aluminum rear case and the metal plate between the pump and the middle of the rear case to reduce friction and vibration, ask. You have a website to buy everything I need ... Thank you. Tomorrow I will still check well to see if I see everything in the transfer case ...
I don't understand how these metal type transfercase saver are able to do any good. Apart from taking out some slack, there is still metal riding on the housing, except now it it the transfercase saver metal. I have the feeling any non-metal type transfercase saver is the better solution.
I have a vibration coming from my transfer case when I put it in 4 wheel drive from around 100 km/h and up , feels like a loose chain , don’t know if it’s something you’ve experience?
Hi from Alberta, Can someone please helpppppp, I have a 2009 Escalade ext awd, I have to sun gears seems like only 1 will fit at a time is there a trick to get the suns on.?
My 02 awd yukon tcase had the pin holes, got the new housing and pump plate. But it leaked immediatly after getting it bavk from shop think i ran it to low now shift fork tabs r melted
Rebuilt my transmission, transfer case didn’t leak, worked fine, decided while I had that heavy bitch out to break it open and found out the pump had wore about half way through, put the case saver plate in and saved that case
Did one of these in my truck because of same problem, made a really loud whining noise I could hear over my radio...second brand new one I got is doing the same fkn thing...fkn pissd
Okay I have a 1993 four-wheel drive Chevy Suburban I like when I go down the road when I accelerate my truck just Slams on the brakes all by itself what would that be transfer case rear end
This is one of the best explanations of this transfer case that I've seen. THANK YOU!!!
Great company, good people who advise the best course for you, not what will make them more money!
You are dead nuts right. I have mine apart now. Caught it early. Thank You.
lol… mines hammered and that just saved me a whole lot of questions. Great video💪🏼
Good video very informative, easy to understand .

Thanks for an informative Video. Nicely done.

Do you need to remove transfer case from vehicle to repair pump plate problem?
Nice rundown. Thx
Really good information.

Well that explains the pinhole that I found...

AH.....what is our number?.........I don't know either but you made an excellent presentation.
Very helpful video thank you!
Good info
I had a mechanic tell me i need to put a new inner seal i think its called but the price is high. Is it something a beginner can do
CAN I REMOVE MY TRANSFER CASE NP8 FROM MY 2007 CHEVY TAHOE FOREVER ? IF SO WHAT DO I NEED 1 HAVE 3 AND NEED TO USE THEM AS LIMOUSINES 4X4 NOT NEEDED

Appreciate this info! Great video
How bad is a trailblazer 4.2 ? Is it real bad to change the TC IN MY 2006 ? Thanks
If I could give this 2 thumbs up I would is it possible to see a video of the full rebuild
Well, at least you could remember your name! Good video!
How do you remove just the cover I have taken all the bolts out all the wires off all the harness everything got it loose there's a half an inch Gap but will not pop off
Sorry that's my daughter's name but I'm Tony
I'm sorry to bother you brother I just want to know how that cover comes off I have taken all the bolts out all the wires clips harness everything even the module but I cannot get it off there's a half an inch Gap already between but it will not come off
Nice video, very informative 👍
I don’t understand I put the case saver and my snap ring just won’t seat. I push tone wheel but won’t go far enough for rear snap ring to lock-in place
I put the new case saver from merchant automotive in mine yesterday with the rebuild kit
Hi, I have a question, a bad transfer case can make my truck vibrates when I relace the accelerator while driving?.
Can I drive it without the front drive shaft attached? 03 Yukon 4x4 is the vehicle don’t have the money for a transfer case as this is my daily any temp fix?

My 246 works great when key on engine off with it running it won't come outta 4 low

What fluid goes in it ?
Was this issue corrected on 07 & ⬆️ ?
Could thi cause a vibration at 45 to 55 and again at 65 to 75
Did the 226's in the Envoy's have this same issue?
Where can I buy the plate?
What if the rear shaft of the transfer case can be moved with just your thumb?
Thanks
Thank you!! 👍🏻💪🏼😂

How much for a new transfer case
Will a NP 246 back housing match a 262
What would make my truck when I accelerate it Slams on the brakes I've never ran into this problem
What would make it pop and make noise in reverse long after disengage four wheel drive
I have a vibration coming from my transfer case when I put it in 4 wheel drive from around 100 km/h and up , feels like a loose chain , don’t know if it’s something you’ve experience?
I believe you gonna have to start looking for the transfer case soon my started doing the same like two monts ago and now i need to replase it
My recomendation for now is to add oil to it sometimes its only oil what it needs
Does this include the Hummer H2?
I have a borg Warner 4406 that leaks at the input shaft. I have replaced the seal and it still leaks. What else could be causing this?
output shaft bushing
Hi from Alberta, Can someone please helpppppp, I have a 2009 Escalade ext awd, I have to sun gears seems like only 1 will fit at a time is there a trick to get the suns on.?
Do u sell a kit ?
My 02 awd yukon tcase had the pin holes, got the new housing and pump plate. But it leaked immediatly after getting it bavk from shop think i ran it to low now shift fork tabs r melted
Sounds like WARRANTY ISSUE
@@Watchout1010 shop was my buddys garage so no warrenty
He wrks belltire but did it at home
@@jeremykochan5718 case half silacone, seal or hole would only create a leak-pinhole,clean,brakeclean and JB weld,epoxy-will be wet where the leak is
What I want to know, is how to easily change the fluid when the case has no drain plug?
It does just gotta look
Does 243c have this issue?
Yes
Rebuilt my transmission, transfer case didn’t leak, worked fine, decided while I had that heavy bitch out to break it open and found out the pump had wore about half way through, put the case saver plate in and saved that case
What causes my transfer case in my 03 Chevy to slip out when I come to a stop then I go it slips out makes a noise then goes back in
It has fluid also
Did one of these in my truck because of same problem, made a really loud whining noise I could hear over my radio...second brand new one I got is doing the same fkn thing...fkn pissd
Now if you service the fluids at 60,000 miles, less problems occur.its junk because the fluids were never changed?
Let's go Brandon
They could have had areas where to mount that plate permanently with fasteners to the case. Seems like a bad design.
Okay I have a 1993 four-wheel drive Chevy Suburban I like when I go down the road when I accelerate my truck just Slams on the brakes all by itself what would that be transfer case rear end
They split the year in 2007
In other words Chevy trucks from 99-07 are terrible because the transfer cases leak and run dry and self destruct ..
I have an 05 Sierra and having the same issues 😮
Talk close
not suprise this isn’t a recall 😂
Audio sucks
I could barely understand you with all that huffing and puffing going on
I know right. Sounded like someone was snoring
