Stupid question but do you put oil in it to perform this testing?
I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500hd manual shift transfer case needing to know where tag would be located
lol… mines hammered and that just saved me a whole lot of questions. Great video💪🏼
Thank you!! 👍🏻💪🏼😂
CAN I REMOVE MY TRANSFER CASE NP8 FROM MY 2007 CHEVY TAHOE FOREVER ? IF SO WHAT DO I NEED 1 HAVE 3 AND NEED TO USE THEM AS LIMOUSINES 4X4 NOT NEEDED
I had a mechanic tell me i need to put a new inner seal i think its called but the price is high. Is it something a beginner can do
I wish i had come to youtube earlier. Mine goes low, but i dont see any fluid marks where i park.. And, about last summer, i got in and started the engine. When i put it in drive, and when it just started moving, i heard a noise under the truck. It literally sounded like a transmission just dropped. I looked under the truck and didn't see anything. But i still wonder what i broke underneath
How do you remove just the cover I have taken all the bolts out all the wires off all the harness everything got it loose there's a half an inch Gap but will not pop off
Sorry that's my daughter's name but I'm Tony
I'm sorry to bother you brother I just want to know how that cover comes off I have taken all the bolts out all the wires clips harness everything even the module but I cannot get it off there's a half an inch Gap already between but it will not come off
Him leaning over the spinning output shaft made me tense up big time. Mannnnn shut the machine off before you lean over something like that! You’ll get a limb ripped off!!!
Im a highschool student taking the automotive service tech course and we are working on this sort of thing. We have a 241 c transfer case and I’ve narrowed it down to 1988-1999 Chevy, GMC or Dodge does the “C” in 241 c mean its chevy specifically?
My transfer case in my 2010 GMC has been ok. Knock on wood. I am planning on servicing both front and read differentials and the transfer case with fresh AMSOIL fluids this weekend. I’ve never done this service prior, but it looks ridiculously easy and I was quoted $800 from a shop to use shop grade bulk fluids. No thanks. 😂😂😂
I see a T-Case rebuild in my future but a quick question. If only running in RWD, can I put the rebuild on a short delay and keep driving around as long as there is fluid? I have a small leak and am not sure how the previous owner took care of it. I replaced the input shaft seal and it stopped the majority of the leak already . Thanks!
Bro you have a job I wish I had 😮
I have trouble getting my jk 5 speed into 1st or 2nd. Sometimes it works just fine then all of a sudden it will go into any gear but 1st and 2nd. Any help would be appreciated greatly.
I have a 94 wrangler with the 4 cyl, when I got it the AX 5 trans sounded like it was grinding all the time, and no reverse. I found a "good deal" on an AX-15 so I ended up swapping that in using the Camaro clutch and the Dakota bell housing. It works, but goes clank clank clank in reverse which I assume is a missing tooth. I bought another "good deal" AX-15 for parts, but the shifter is locked up, so I'm going to try your tip, pop that plug out and see if I can move that gear around. If I'm able to shift it after that, I'll swap it into my YJ and see how it drives. Thanks for this
Thanks alot I really appreciate your help and the way you explain it to me , thank you so much
well, I spent around $6,500 parts and labor for a rebuilt NSG370, only to find out that my problem was likely in the Shift Tower (no OEM types available). The shift tower is NOT included as part of the transmission. Also - the shift lever adapter (fastens to shift tower) is no longer available (it was a lousy design with that rubber element).
Did your slip happen when putting it on reverse? What shift tower did you end up getting?
I have a 2018 chevrolet traverse suv. How easy is it to service the transfer case if there's a leak? And what parts do I need to make it less likely to leak in the future?
Where r u located
How much for a new transfer case
My tags flat tag bolted to the back in the center. It stamped with"300596-20" and right below it is "945511" The case is casted "C18-15-24-2", What is this? My 1980 jeep j10 originally has a th400 automatic with a quadra trac. I want to get away from that so I'm wondering if I can use this first mentioned tcase instead??
I JUST LOVE HOW HE REACHED OVER THAT SPINNING SHAFT. 😮🤪🤯🤕
Were these ever used in a 2 wheel drive? I'd like to not buy then sacrifice a transfer case to make that happen.
What code on case or on white tag is a NP8
Are you builder 9094 cause that guy🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️Cause he sent me wrong trans then sent me out another one and that replacement had metal shavings in it🤦♂️🤦♂️
Now on my 3rd on shifting into 2nd and 3rd I have to double clutch or hold a few secs after I push in clutch!?🤷🏻♂️
Can I get a price on a AX15 conversion kit. I have the crappy transmission.
No offense but transmission dynos are boring
My 4th gear is gone after 20 years of floating. 1st 2nd 3rd 5th still ok
I rebuilt the NP246 on my 2007 Tahoe 5 years ago, about 25,000 Km since. At the time, I replaced the rear case half and installed the case saver. The problem I am experiencing now is the clutch is NOT slipping at all. When in 4wd, the front and rear are locked together pretty tight. Serious tire scrubbing when turning and I can really hear the front diff complaining from the gear train straining. What can I do to get the clutch to loosen up? What can I pour in there to encourage some slip? Yes, it has and always had blue autotrakII in it.
Good video very informative, easy to understand .
I have a 95 yj it hard going in 2nd
What about total loss of 5 and slight lose on 6th gear but all other gears are fine?
Does 243c have this issue?
Yes
Safety first let's have some guards around those rotating components
What the chances my 2001 gmc sierra won’t move because of the transfer case it shot ? It had no fluids so I refilled it but now my truck won’t move untill it hits almost 2500 rpm’s in drive or reverse.
Can I drive it without the front drive shaft attached? 03 Yukon 4x4 is the vehicle don’t have the money for a transfer case as this is my daily any temp fix?
What do you think taking the drive shaft off is gonna do? The transfer case always spins no matter what gear you're in or 4wd or 2wd it's always spinning
Good Info!!!
What would make my truck when I accelerate it Slams on the brakes I've never ran into this problem
Okay I have a 1993 four-wheel drive Chevy Suburban I like when I go down the road when I accelerate my truck just Slams on the brakes all by itself what would that be transfer case rear end
What fluid goes in it ?
I have a silver rado 11 can't find identification
Also have some rattling sounds coming from the trans when idling in neutral. Pushing in the clutch makes it go away, sometimes pumping it a few times repeatedly and it’ll go away. Always figured it was the cage but now that I’m thinking about it is this likely clutch related and not trans?
My first gear used to slip out, put in amsoil and the issue went away. Why do you think this happened? Do I likely have rounded teeth on my first gear? Or do you think it was just shifter issues? I was debating on doing the b&m shifter upgrade to reduce all the slop in the shifter.
Best tutorial I've seen! Thanks man!
These transfer cases have more problems than just magnesium peckers internally. They are crap!!
These things were the worst junk. Had an 88 jeep with this pile of shit. Stripped out the reverse gears because the reverse idler didn’t mesh properly. Finally threw it away and swapped in an AX-15.
The NSG370 has a cast aluminum case with generous ribbing. It's integral front bellhousing is available in a Jeep 4.0L I6 version and a Mopar 3.7L V6 version. witch do I want? to put it in my 03 Tj 2.4l
Thanks for the info! Wish you were closed to MA!
Would a 1994+ ax15/231 bolt into a 89 Comanche without modifications ?
I have a 2008 4 x 4 suburban 1500. My suburban vibrates between 70 miles an hour and 75 miles an hour. Once I reach about 80 miles an hour it stops. But it also vibrates going downhill so I have to accelerate to stop the vibration once accelerate the vibration stops
