    Great video Pete. For the money the ANI compact is great value. Great midi-mini gun, I’ve got a 1.3 to do some smart repairs on my car. Handled the base and clear with ease.

      Hi Steve, It quite surprised me how much more the 1.3 was compared to the 1.2, I was definitely sceptical about it being able to cover bigger areas, but it certainly does.
      The only thing to point out is that it does use more air than is thought, simply because it likes its pressure, always was a cracking little gun so much more versatile now, cheers mate and thank you 👍

    Once again, wonderful video. Don’t know how you can think it would be boring or too long. I always learn something from these. I like your little jig blocks. • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  5 днів тому

      Hi Andrew, That depends on a lot of things, mainly the speed of the hardener being used and the temperature as well as the clear coat being used.
      It can be as little as 1 minute or as much as 20 or so minutes. Just touch a little bit of overspray area, it needs to be very slightly tacky as a guide

    Hello, just wanted to say a big ‘Cheers!’ for your videos as they’ve guided me into buying a spray gun. I’ve been into airbrushed for a good while and my younger brother said, “When you get good, you can spay my car.” He was half joking but he assured me that (his words) it’s just about the same…. While I’ve become quite proficient for an absolute beginner, with an airbrush (it makes art really easy for me) and your output has both steered me towards the NTools 4000 which I’m yet to use with anything stronger than water. That’s only because I haven’t the space in the wee airbrush but I’ve built for meself in the spare room :) :) Anyway, really grateful for your videos so a heartfelt cheers from me!! While I don’t agree fully with the idea that it’s the same, the tools are reasonably similar in which I could pick a spray gun up and know what bits do what, I realise the skill heee is a steady hand and an eye for exactness. You make it look so bloody easy too! But in a way, that help with my confidence as if I follow what you do, things (with time and practice) will be good enough for what I need. At least that’s what I’m aiming for :) Anyway, if you’re enjoying making the videos, please keep up the good work.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi John, Good to hear the videos have been some use. The 4000B is a cracking gun, so I'm sure you'll be fine with it.
      It is similar to airbrushing in that, as you say, you have controls that you are familiar with, certainly in function but not as familiar in form.
      Let us know how you get on once you've had a chance to use it. It'll be interesting to hear how different you find the two crafts.
      Thanks for watching, mate 👍

      That was a lovely reply, cheers! I’ll try to get a couple of days under my belt with the supposed upcoming good weather. I have a garage but no matter what I do, how much I plug up and how much I caulk, it seems to retain moisture a bit too much for how I understand it… Anyway thanks again and I’ll mention ‘airbrush bloke’ in my reply etc, going by my very uncommon and easy-to-remember name :) :) Your videos have definitely been the thing that pushed me over the edge into it and you’ve got an excellent body of work too! Take care

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 місяці тому

      I'm sure you'll be fine, John , maybe turn the fluid in, particularly with basecoat while you're getting used to it as the 4000B is a fast gun which may take you by surprise.
      Having said that, a lot about successful painting is confidence, so don't feel intimidated by the gun. Just show it respect, and you'll get on fine.
      Keep us posted, mate, and good luck 👍

    I have one of the old R160's with the same digital gauge the Skull uses, I plan on getting one of these in 1.3 just to swap the needle, tip and cap over to the R160 and then I'll probably redrill the old 1.2 r160 to a 1.6 primer setup. The difference that 0.1 makes is absolutely insane

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi Bryan, Yes, it's definitely makes a difference, you know, why do ANI and the like not make a big tipped mini gun, I'm sure there would be a market for one, I know Sata and Iwata do one, AZ4 , but the Sata is expensive and the AZ4 more of a Midi than a mini.
      Cheers, buddy, I appreciate it 👍

    Great Video Pete, thanks for your detailed info about this gun.
    I am thinking to buy a one with 1.3 tip, but I have question if you can in light me about it, what size of the compressor you are using? as I have 40 liters with 100 l/min compressor and I am not sure if it will be enough for small jobs.
    Thanks!

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Місяць тому

      Hi mate, It's going to be tough to get much done with your compressor.
      These are quoted around 130lm, but that's at 2bar. These, for a good finish, need 2.5 bar for base and 3 to 3.5 bar for clear coats, so I estimate around 170lm, still not loads, but certainly more than you have.
      Here's a video I did showing air consumption,
      ua-cam.com/video/rh6d-8PKfZQ/v-deo.html
      Of course, it depends greatly on how much you have to do, but with 40lt reserve you won't be going for long, a diaphragm regulator would help as reserves get low, hope that helps 👍

    Looking at getting a set up like this very soon. I have calipers to do on my Range Rover and in
    the near future base and clear on both wings of my Caddy van. Sounds like this would be fine for doing the wings anyway.
    My question is would it be ok for doing the intricate areas on my brake calipers? Or would it be an idea to get the 1.0 or 1.2 tip set as well?

      @@peteshobbies5383 cheers for getting back to me Pete. That helps alot, I’m new to painting so all the info I can get is appreciated immensely.
      I don’t mind spending the money to have a more flexible set up. I was actually looking at more expensive guns initially. But after watching your praise for the ANi guns, as well as Gunman, I thought it’s probably the best one for my needs.
      Also I currently only have a 50ltr 9.5 cfm compressor so a less air hungry gun is going to be best for me at the minute.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  29 днів тому +1

      @Mac_F87 To be fair, the little ANI is a pretty good gun and quite universal, I don't think it's so good in the 0.8 and 0.5 sizes. It still needs a higher pressure, which doesn't really work with the smaller tips because you're normally doing smaller, more intricate things, and all that air flying around is a pain, there's lots of smaller tip guns that are good and run at the lower pressure.
      But certainly 1.0 and up these are very good, and you can buy a service kit for around 12GBP, which is a bargain, cheers 👍

    Hi Pete, the Compact did a fabulous job on these panels mate the base went on very smooth and the clear is pretty damn flat so what more can you ask for, I remember saying a long while ago that I wasn't that happy with my R150 as the finish wasn't that good until you told me that it needs more pressure which transformed the gun for me🙄😂
    I'm struggling to decide which gun to buy next Pete, I'm keen on getting the ANI Skull but also like the Porphis PRD717 with the split tip, I know there is a price difference but that's not a factor in my choice but I am leaning towards the 717 as I think the quality is better and I'll probably get a better finish from the 717 as well🤔I'll probably end up with both of them in time but but would like to get the better of the two first if that makes sense🤷‍♂cheers mate👍

      Hi John, Yeah, I was a little skeptical about the Compact, but having used it in 1.3 and 1.4 and comparing them with the 1.2, I'm a convert, it definitely gives the gun more uses and of course it all retro fits the R160.
      The Skull and Porphis are both excellent mate, knowing what you like I would go with the Porphis, you will end up with the Skull as well one day but I think the PRD717 would suit you better.
      You know the gun as you had my PRD715, and everything is the same bar the tip and cap, don't forget the discount code, it's only 5% now but it's still worth having, cheers mate 👍
