      Really? It looks like he’s using his quads way more than his hamstrings, and, as a deadlift is a posterior chain exercise, that should not be the case. His back is too vertical/ chest is too up and sticking out but I guess I’m not an Olympic lifter. Maybe he’s just doing deadlift like that to practice for his main movement which i think is the snatch?

    Considering I’ve seen lu squat 270kg without a hiccup I’m surprised he isn’t deadlifting 320kg+ especially with the power needed to snatch. The powerlifting game is such a specific kind of strength

    • @coffeecat4146
      @coffeecat4146 2 роки тому +63

      That's because powerlifting requires pure strength, while weightifting requires power(which needs speed). Lu can prob dl(conventional cuz weightlifters usually DL with a C&J form) a lot more but there is just no need for him to do it since it wont translate very well to weightlifting.

    • @halvieyra6141
      @halvieyra6141 2 роки тому +17

      it's true, there's a lot of difference between a conventional dl and clean style dl, e.g. straight upper back, lower hip position etc. Weightlifters are extremely quad dominant too which plays a role and is why they often don't pull more than they squat.

    What is the mark/mass on Lu' left Clavicle? Is that just a mark from repeated friction from the bar or is it the remnants of a staph infection?

    That's a lot of weight constantly being dropped onto the ground. Even with the padding, I imagine there could be some damage/cracks to the floor over time.

    What is the tape he's putting around his knees? What is the point of it?

    • @stephenribchester2185
      @stephenribchester2185 2 роки тому

      Kinesio tape. Looks to me as though he is using it to pull his knee cap down. Maybe his knee cap doesn't track properly sometimes and this may help with "clicking". Just a guess on my part.

    • @JO-jn1wy
      @JO-jn1wy 2 роки тому

      Probably helps with kinaesthetic awareness of knee tracking, to reduce knee pain while lifting. Just speculating

    Does the wrist straps help? Can someone please explain this work out 10.54 and why dips as accessory work out, I imagine is for stabilisation to hold all that weight over there heads. This is fascinating to watch the best of the best of the best training together like this.

    • @nathanielkang2397

      general consensus is the wrist straps are much more for experienced lifters than new lifters as new lifters need to progress their grip to keeping increasing their lifts, while people like Lu will never need to clean 260 or snatch 190 so they can save their grip for when it's needed as it is already sufficient. deficit snatch pulls are to help your snatch be stronger off the floor, although i've always wondered why they do hips so high (could be to work back and posterior chain more but could be a positioning thing). a lot of weightlifters use dips as one of their main upper body static strength exercises along with strict press

      Straps is like using helmets for riding bikes, straps allows you to pull properly without using your arms, full leg extension and shrugs, coordinate as fuck

      Professional weightlifters use straps a lot to save their hands. They have to pull bars every day, so they don't want to shred their hands doing pulls one day and not be able to snatch the next.
