I was wondering if you have any sites, forums, podcasts, or readings that you can recommend. I've come across one podcast that I like to listen to from time to time but as technology is changing constantly and new threats propping up, I would like to start getting into the latest threats and how they affect companies.
Since this is going to be a career change for me, going from Veterinary Medicine into cyber technology, I am really interested in how these threat actors can really affect a facility.

Is it possible to combine AI and cybersecurity?
I am currently studying AI and I really like to get into ethical hacking. So I was wondering if I finish studying AI then get certifications for ethical hacking, could I use my knowledge of AI in ethical hacking jobs? Or are they completely unrelated and cannot be combined in anyway?

Just did my first cybersecurity interview at my current company working at a MSP, my current role is a Tier 1 support role. They will tell me tomorrow or Wednesday if I got the job. I think I have a pretty good shot at it as my billable hours are really high and I have CySA+ Sec+ Net+ and A+. Most of my other coworkers only have A+ and Sec+ as it required to even get a job here in the first place. If I had to guess about 15 people probably applied to the job and there hiring for 2 cyber roles so its definitely competitive.

The interesting part is that my close coworker friend got hired and on paper I’m a much better candidate ie I have more certs, work experience and work stats are a lot better but she just has a lot more vibrant personality than I do and that is what got her the job

First of all, congratulagions and thank you for the amazing information you share with us on daily basis. Will you please make a video on how to create an impactful resume for entry level cyber security job. I completed a one year graduate certificate in Cybersecurity and Threat Management from a reputed community college in Toronto with high honors (4/4 GPA). On top of that I obtained Certified in Cybersecurity from ISC2, Google Cyber security Certificate and most recently Security+. This was all in 2023. So far I have applied to various positions and I dont even get an interview. I am so disappointed as I have studied very hard alongside maintaining a full time job. I will appreciate if you can spot some light on how to stand out as an applicant with a great resume. I will appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

I am transitioning to cybersecurity and am halfway through the google certificate program. Are you liable for any "damages" from cybersecurity attacks for whatever company you work for as a cybersecurity analyst? Do you need liability insurance? I know someone whose first job in cybersecurity was very stressful because the company she worked for said she would have at least partial liability for any cyber attacks and would also have to go to court. I hope this is not the norm. Please speak to this topic. Thanks for all of your awesome videos!
no doesn’t work like that, it depends on the organisation but it’s rhe bord/senior manager responsibility and there is insurance and other legal matters in place, it doesnt fall under the analyst

I am interested in cloud security now , i am about halfway through the google cert and wondering if i do the MS analyst cert can i go straight to the guided projects or do i need to do the intermediate associate course before doing those projects. I watched the vid but was a little unclear at that part.

getting a degree is a personal journey. Some people love the academic structure! It’s not needed but it might help in the future. If you’re in the US look into WGU

I’m looking to replace by laptop while I’m working on my certifications and taking classes in Information Systems. I was told that you can’t use the New MacBook pros with the M3 chips in cybersecurity because they are ARM and not x86 based so they can’t run virtual machines. Is this true?
you definitely can, you can connect to virtual machines on the cloud just fine
@@UnixGuy they were saying something about bootload doesn’t work and something else about something called parallel. I’m just starting only two weeks in but I know my base line 2018 MacBook Pro with only 8gb of ram and 128gb of storage will need updating. I trust you more than random from a chat. I was considering just 16”. MacBook Pro m3 max with 64 or 128 ram to last for years. Does this sound fine to you or do you recommend a windows intel based machine?

bug bounty requires a lot of skill to do and get paid, so might not be a good idea for quick cash while you study

Hi, UnixGuy, I have a specific question. I'm a Nigerian residing in Nigeria, deeply passionate about Cyber Security. I've been closely following your videos and instructions. However, I'm concerned about the feasibility of securing my first Cyber Security job remotely, given the limited opportunities and low pay for such roles in Nigeria. I'd appreciate your insights on whether studying Cyber Security in Nigeria is advisable and if remote job prospects are viable.

Hi @UnixGuy I'm Currently planning to get my first job as remote in cyber security as a penetration tester or in VAPT where i have a CEH certification. Here is the list of skills i currnetly know (web pentesting, api pentesting, mobile pentesting, network pentesting) also i know various offensive framework and good at using linux machines. I have some bug bounties in web whats skills should i learn to increase my chances to get an complete remote work from another company not aiming for any mnc.
