This just brought tears to my eyes cuz it’s like you were talking directly to me 😢 this is EXACTLY where I’m at- a beginner suffering from imposter syndrome, thinking about collecting every cert under the sun like all of CompTIA, CCNA, all the cyber certs under the sun.. like it overwhelmed me to the point where I said maybe I’ll just settle for data analytics or IT project management which are great fields but not where my heart is. A UA-camr named Day also recommended Blue team but since it was just him talking about it and it didn’t show up on a lot of HR job postings I said it must not be worth it. Long story short, you gained a new subscriber in me and im so thankful for your professional and encouraging message!
glad to hear it Shawn, you got this 👏🏻
@@GameHackingGuru
I think it depends where you live. I'm from Brazil and here international certifications ( CompTIA , CCNA, AWS and others ) have curriculum weight.
I think the biggest problem at the moment is the fact that the market is flooded with professionals (many overqualified due to layoffs). I'm trying to get into the field (I have an associate degree in Database + certifications and extracurriculars) through the support sector and most jobs have between 2 and 6 thousand applicants, even if you have an extremely above average education is likely to be out of a job because there are people with similar training but with practical experience competing...
I think it's time to continue studying to be able to surf the next wave that should come with the end of the recession (who knows when this shit ends)...
PS: I looked at vacancies in other areas and realized that competition is also brutal due to the economic moment..
@@GameHackingGuru Out of curiousity, does this mean you're disagreeing with the advice in his video? It seems like some people are saying to get some certs and just go for it. While others are saying that's bs. Hard to know what to do as a beginner!
@@Shannon_Robbiehe doesn't have any real advice to give. Just go for the certs.
Good evening, I want to become a cyber security expert, can u help me?

How long did it take you and is it easier than Comptia? 🤔
@@Ze_Moose It took me around 4 months to complete it. That was taking notes and learning as much as I can as this stuff you really need to learn for job interviews ect :)
I just loved it. I asked for a question in a previous video about it. And you put an exclusive video about that. Thanks for that ❤️

I really like your personality in general. Can tell you’ve worked very hard through your younger years and you’ve acquired a sense of commitment, focus and hard work. Your words in the end about ‘focusing’ on continuous learning & improvement over getting complacent and playing the blame game really resonated with me. A logical mind doesn’t seek excuses, a logical mind focuses on action.
Thank you so so much for this content - I couldn’t have come across this video at a better time.
Really appreciate the effort, quality & knowledge you have put into these videos. I’m beginning my blue team cert tomorrow and I’ve decided to go through security + and focus on my comprehension for foundation instead of sitting through the exam. I don’t have that much money so I thought blue team would be a wise purchase for now on a budget while I’m holding down a job I hate - wanted to ask your thoughts and opinions on my decision?
Love your videos brother, I’ll be supporting your channel always. Please consider starting a blog as well and potentially migrating into becoming a source of news & development in the cyber security world person - and then you can perhaps look at ways to monetise that so you can continue doing that and also earn from the time you put into it

Thank you for such great content. I've been in my HelpDesk role for about a year and I was so focused on getting the A+ certification just to have it on my CV before I go for Network+ that I kinda lost my 'why'. My end goal is to be in cybersecurity threat hunting and eventually pentesting so I assumed that I needed all these certs and know networking 100% before I even went for those certifications but now watching your video I'm definitely going to go for the Google Certification then Blue Team instead of the A+, Network+ and Security +. Skills are more important than the number of certifications you have on your CV.
Thank you again!

First - I want to thank you for your hard work and making videos, which are beyond helpful for me!
And second - please, would you share your opinion about is there an age, considered too late for getting a first job in cyber security?
If you have a Master degree and then - a PhD degree; if you are trained to learn constantly an enormous amount of information, analyse it and make important conclusions + you love to read, learn and analyse; if you realise that cyber security is the work you want to spend your life with; if you are coming from a very, very different area /for example Art/ ; and other "ifs" ...Is 48 years extremely too late for a career change and too bold to try to step into the field of cybersecurity?
Thank you in advance for your honest answer!
Best regards,
Desislava
Hey, I think your approach to learning is perfect for cyber security!
It's not too late, you have a lot of transferrable skills and life experience that's very valuable - BUT, a career change is difficult at any age, so you'll need to put in a lot of time and effort to build your skills.
I highly you recommend you start with this certification and take it from there:

and make sure to watch the rest of my videos as they will clarify the process to you :)

If there is even a little chance at my age, hard learning and efforts don't frighten me!

honestly this video is GOLD, im one of those who would keep stacking up certs they want to obtain but get discouraged even before they take their 1st step. well, i threw away my list of certs i "Needed" and now im taking security+ ONLY (I've been wanting to take it for 2 years now but never took action) soo, thank you so much
good luck 👏🏻
Thank you so much for making this video. I never knew there was such an amazing Blue team level 1 course with labs like in real life .
I passed my Comptia Sec+ cert and got a job as a cybersecurity analyst but I have to be honest I still struggle to handing technical talks, except GRC related tasks..
Now that I jaut found out this BTL1 course I can't wait to enroll
there is heaps more! enjoy it!
Thank you for your very helpful video. Keep up with your good work! 💪

UnixGuy, to say that you are awesome would be doing you a disservice, and I'm not about to do that. You are ABOVE Awesomeness, my friend. There are very few professionals out there (like you) that care about giving back and help others get the jumpstart their career in Info Security. Thank You!
thank you so much Vincent, I really appreciate your kind words and support, they definitely keep me going 🙏🏻
Great advice. Thank you.
