      Would you possibly help My family out? I'm having a problem with someone hacking my system and I can not stop it. My internet provider can't detect it, and my router logs show something happening but my router company can't explain it but they can see it and it was happening when I was on the phone with them watching my router log. Logins that weren't showing up on my phone app but were being logged. Admin passwords changed and security questions changed literally 10 min after I changed them and wrote them down.

      it’s definitely a feeling that had a role to our survival but I do believe we tend to exaggerate things further away from the intended utility. For example, responding to an email is not as life threatening as running away from a lion but we somehow use a similar stress response

If I finish ejpt and ecppt. Should I learn python next or keep honing skills on hack the box? I learn very quickly if I can apply the skills that’s why I currently work in trades.

    Don't know if a degree helps to get a job in cyber security but never go for any degree without a plan or unless the job role you are heading for REQUIRES a degree. Better still, work anywhere for a couple of years and earn some coin, so when the degree option does come up, your costs are somewhat alleviated and you are not go green with the harsh realities of living. Getting into debt once coming out of university can be very difficult to manage.

    Hi guys. I have a IT degree and worked as desktop support engineer, deployment engineer and more for severa years within banking sector and NHS in the UK, I found I need to progress to more advance level in IT I almost learnt ethical hacking, Azure admin and some Web Development skills via udemy. I am unemployed for over a year now although I was under huge family pressure. I am interested working in cyber security, ethical hacking too. I have extensive working knowledge around networking and soome hands on experience too. Do you think I can secure a cyber security role? Which I belive its possible. I can work remotely as freelancer too. Thanks gus

    I was surprised with Grants answers. He got his entry level role with a Batchelor's degree and Security + but also acknowledges degrees and certifications wont get you the job. I was expecting this video to be some sort of proof you don't need to follow the traditional route to get a cybersecurity job. Now i'm a bit confused on the advice that you dont need a degree or the basic CompTIA, CCNA, etc. I wonder if in general most people getting an entry level role have these credentials and were still moving away from that or if you truly need them.

    • @UnixGuy
      @UnixGuy  6 місяців тому +4

      I’m not sure why you found it confusing. Let me clarify:
      Can someone get a job with a degree? yes
      Can someone get a job without a degree? yes
      are degrees are must? no
      Where’s the confusion? just because someone got their job with ccna/sec+ doean’t mean IT IS THE only way, this black or white thinking isn’t helping. There are many avenues for you to achieve your goals :) Pick a pathway and follow it to the end, focus on studying instead of worrying about ‘whats the

      Right, I get what you're saying. I guess I was assuming that Grant was going to say that looking back he would have done it differently and would have spent more time on practical labs/projects. I have heard many people, including you, state that University ended up being too much time and work for the benefits so I was confused because he seems content with that path. Maybe his Uni experience was really good, im not sure. Maybe you guys can redo this in 5 years and see what choices on his path hed keep and what hed change @@UnixGuy

    • @UnixGuy

      I understand where you’re coming from, but things are rarely black or white. A degree is definitely not a Must. There are many ways to learn, and I stand by emphasising hands-on projects and if you look through grants channel
      he is doing a lot of hands-on stuff via hackthebox and other providers :)
