    @9:43 that's such an important message. I felt the same way about my studies and then failing to get a job in media or culture. I turned to IT out of desperation and a desire to have a job where I could learn without micromanaging. Now I work in cybersecurity and have a great team but indeed, having a clear balance and a clear vision of what really matters at the end of the day can spare us a lot of pain and agony in relation to our jobs & happiness

      @10:08 I'm also thinking like this now. Not worth the debt I got myself in 🫨 I changed studies 4 times in uni to only end up doing something completely different for work 😅
      One thing I'm grateful for is the time I got to work on reading and writing, working on my critical analyzing skills and the 2 close friends for life I made during uni. For me this point is both & and. Both useful AND a waste of time and money 😂

Just wanted to share as well, if the first timestamp is at 0:00 in the description, it will show the timestamps on on the actual video of what sections are which lesson. It's just a UA-cam requirement to start at 0:00 to get the maximum benefits of the timestamp feature.

    Been stuck as IT support for 9 years, one thing I like about it is no certs no experience needed with companies that just hire anyone for the role and pay well, if I want to jump would jump to cybersecurity by taking Google and Microsoft certs but getting cybersecurity jobs in Asia Pacific is very different from the West most companies don't even know that Google and Microsoft have cybersecurity certs and Asian employers only know Cisco, CISSP and ITIL a totally useless cert.

    • @UnixGuy
      @UnixGuy  7 місяців тому

      hey mate, I totally understand!
      However, even in the west most employers dont know the google/microsoft cyber analyst certs because they’re new BUT everyone knows the *skills* that you learn in those certs so trust me people in Asia understand the content of those certs, they know what Linux/SQL/Python are.
      Either way, there is no reason why you can’t start learning and improving your skills :)
