Excellent review of a great looking motorcycle. I really dislike modern naked bikes with their plastic 'transformer' look and so the look of the Meteor really appeals to me. Hoping to test ride a Meteor soon, my pick is the Stellar. RE have a winner on their hands & will sell millions of these bikes. Probably the only thing you didn't mention was the forward position of the pegs, the low seat height & this was the base of three variants. Thanks for posting.

You have to give credit to RE. They are releasing stunning bikes to look at and keeping them very reasonably priced in today's market. Great blend of classic, drop dead looks and modern, convenient touches.
As the owner of a 2021 Himalayan, I can't say enough good things about RE.
I don't get how most other motorcycle manufacturers (HD comes to mind) seem to think everyone that wants to ride a motorcycle is made out of money...bigs props to RE!

I met one of the engineers ( it was designed in the U.K.) a few years ago who told me that the the bikes in the planning stage were something special. It would appear that he was not far from the truth.

Wished this had come with the Himalayan's 410cc mill producing 24hp and hopefully a 500cc and 650cc iteration will also be launched. Would have been a good city commuter as well as fared better during highway runs.
Anyway Royal Enfield is on a roll. The following models up for launch in the next few months -
    Classic
    Roadster
    Shotgun
    Hunter
    Sherpa
    Scram
    Flying Flea and
    An Electric Motorcyle
Also BSA will be launching its 650cc motorcycle by the end of the year.

Spyshots of the Shotgun, Roadster, Hunter and Classic are all over the net. They could be closing up on their launch pretty soon. RE has stated that they would launch one motorcycle every quarter for the next few years.
BSA motorcycles, just like Jawa, Peugeot motorcycles and Yezdi are owned by Mahindra. Rumours are that the 650cc BSA motorcycle is nearing production and will be launched in the UK by the end of the year. It is believed to be a single cylinder motor producing around 50hp and 50 Nm of torque. Will be manufactured in India and assembled in the UK. Launch in India is still not certain, so it may reach stateside even before landing up on our shores. Waiting for its spyshots to appear on the web.
The return of Yezdi motorcycles is also eagerly awaited here in India with spyshots of a motorcycle nearing production seen all over the web.
The Jawas would have been a good launch there to compete with the Meteor. Their Jawa Perak bobber uses a 334cc liquid cooled mill producing 30hp and would have been very capable.

I wouldn’t be happy if I was receiving that bike, the running in procedure says it shouldn’t be run at more than 44mph in 5th gear for the first 300 miles. This is very important on Royal Enfield’s as the engines are not run at the factory the way Japanese or European bikes are and if you want to bed the engine components in correctly and ensure the engine runs smoothly and reliably then the procedure needs to be followed carefully. The maximum speeds in each gear given in the owners manual and varying the speed by 10%, avoiding full throttle and not labouring the engine as well as not running it for more than 1 hour continuously are very important.

@@forgottenmotorcycles unlikely, they would have to develop a new engine. In India where the overwhelming majority of Enfield are sold the 350 engine size sells way, way more than the 500. The bikes are really designed for the Indian market, the rest of us are lucky that they choose to sell some bikes to be sold to the rest of the world. They could chose to make a Himalayan with the 650 twin engine from the Interceptor. I have a euro 4 Himalayan which has similar performance to the new meteor.
