Thank you for making this video, i am really annoyed with the autofocus from fujifilm, i have already downgraded my X-H2S to firmware 1.03 which is way better than version 7.
but now i can't use the xapp because it requires firmware 5.00 or later, and i also cannot use wide/tracking in video mode.
very disappointed in fujifilm.

@@photorabz Family events and running toddlers, i need snappy autofocus, and fujifilm can't provide that for me, if this continuous i am jumping ship.

Great video , Thanks , yes as I said it is usable now , you can work with the af, but still in some situations it will fail more often than the first firmware. I do extreme tests to explain for everyone what is going on. And i think it’s unacceptable that is some cases it is worse than when it was released.

I would mainly use the X-H2S for bird photography. For bird photography, the 7.0 is no better than the 6.0 or the 6.01. Unfortunately, even in the case of a bird sitting in one place, most of the images are more or less out of focus, and there are only a few well-focused ones among the images. Despite the green frame on the bird's eye, there are still defocused images. And in the case of a bird flying towards me, it is simply useless, unable to focus on the bird. In the case of a bird flying sideways, a slightly better result can be achieved if the background does not take the focus away. Unfortunately, the subject recognition is not very strong either, it easily loses the subject and focuses on the background. Those who don't use AF-C, only AF-S, or only photograph landscapes, of course don't understand what's wrong with FUJI's focus.

I have an xH2. with. FW6.0. I use a 70-300mm and what you say doesn't happen to me. It detects me very well and has clear photos. I am very happy with this update. Surely it has flaws to correct, but what technological device today doesn't? I doubt that the xH2 will be "better" than the xH2s after this update. What lens are you using? Out of curiosity I ask you.

I have XF 100-400 and XF 150-600 lenses, unfortunately from one series, there are one or two really sharp images, the others are out of focus to varying degrees, unable to follow the birds flying towards me. Of course, it can be good for any other topic, but it is not suitable for this.
You can fix the audio issue . make the volume -30 in every mode / photo or video

Yes, you are right, several people have already done this. But they are all people who photograph landscapes, they don't even know what bird photography is. But they know exactly that I can't handle the camera well.

That the Camera recognize the Eye does not mean that the Eye is in Focus, in video Mode the AFC is pretty bad. I do not use it at all.

Thank you for your tests and videos. Fujifilm still hasn't solved the focusing problem. I use my X-H2s (fw 7.0 / Yes, it's a little better than 6.01 & 6.0, but still far from good) at events and shoot kids and haven't noticed any major improvements. This mostly applies to photography in AF-C, but even in AF-S mode there are misses. I don't shoot video content, but photography has become problematic for me after 2 years of using the Fuji x-h2s. I've been using the x-mount system for 7 years, I love it, but I adore the color and aesthetics of fuji, have spent a lot of money on lenses and different bodies (in all this time) but I am completely very upset and disappointed. How can you mock your loyal users like this? Constant promises and no improvements. I am very disappointed. ((

Unfortunately, you are absolutely right, I feel the same way.

It’s a complicated issue. There are so many variables that can affect the autofocus algorithm, and you changing the lens and the aperture shows that. I own a Fuji X-H2S too, and although these issues don’t affect my style of photography, they need to get these issues fixed ASAP.

I bought the X-E1 back when Fuji only had three lenses and two cameras. Fuji has always lagged behind with their autofocus; it's consistently a few years behind the competition. If that's a dealbreaker for you, switch to a different system. Life's too short to wait for Fuji to catch up with decent autofocus. Some of us might not live long enough to see it happen.

I am a Nikon Z f user and I don't think Fuji users will appreciate Nikon's design philosophy.
Nikon sacrifices some user experience for efficiency for example the implementation of PASM dials and how Auto ISO and ISO Dial relates.
It's not the same switch retro to retro.
I shoot nikon and fuji, for me they are different. But i like colors of these brands

Time to jump the Fujifilm ship. Not happy as i have several lens.
What will u get
For me its a mind breaker... My xt4 (dont know when was the last time i updated but for sure i'll never update it again) can focus multi with no huge problems and my xh2s cannot... A 2700$ camera (1000$ more expensive than xt4). It can compete with main brands they said. I only find pulsing and hunting. Multi is a dissaster. Even 16-55 which is supossed to be parfocal gets stucked when changing focal. They could be thinking about 16-55 with ois. But no, 16-50 with f4.8... just to solve 40mp issues...
I have a wedding this Friday and a6700 will be my main camera and xt4 for backup. Im not carrying with me the xh2s. The worst of all is Fuji not giving any sollution. 1.03 its fine but i need iso in front dial and ss in back dial plus i havent the firmware update to install it. Would be so simple: Fuji offering all the firmwares to downgrade until a real solution is given to us. Or 1.03 plus some aspects of the latest upgrades. But no. They are thinking on 100xvi, xt50 and bla bla. They are an xt5 but worse. And the marketing purpouse: low production to make them unique and to be wanted by many. Plus the whole vintage old fashioned color science lie. Nah, im a new kid in Sony's town.

do not update fw on x-t4, otherwise it will work worse. I always swore off updating fw if everything was fine, but the last time I installed the latest update. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed to me that the camera began to underestimate the exposure and focus worse in af-c mode (

I think this is a new principle of marketing, like modern smartphones: in order for you to buy new equipment and for it to look like it works better than the old one, you need (under the pretext of various improvements, compatibility, etc.) to offer a new fw, after which (the client can you don’t immediately notice some changes, seeing the pros and not noticing the cons...) but the camera starts to work worse compared to what it was before. How often are your subjects moving around like that? I have the X H2s and the AF has been fine for me since the very beginning. I had the A7iv and got rid of it and kept the Fujifilm as there is just pure joy shooting with Fujifilm. IMO the AF on the Sony was not that much better.

Hey man, did you tried +4 and 0 instead of +2 and 0 ? I saw the people complaining about the focus using allways +2 and 0. This for video. One more thing: You know that this Viltrox 27mm 1.2 is bad choice for video right? In all systems.
Well i agree with u but +2 worked fine now for me as well as the viltrox . It might not be ideal in everything but it is a fantastic lens

1. When you shut down the X-H2s the audio level will reset to auto. I do not know why THIS should be not to be expected.
2. IF one want a MANUAL setting for audio level, which is different from auto, one can set it up in audio settings (like from "auto" to "Manual +3db") and SAVE it to C1-7. Shut off and on how often you like, it will be saved.
At least on mine.
PS: There is a shortcut button to save C1-7, but I forgot. anything with "drive" afaik.

I don't know if you already tried or if the mic turn off automatically when you turn off the fuji, but can you try to turn off the microphone when you turn off the camera and then turn on again when you turn on the camera? Because I tried a lot of time with my microphone but I'm unable to reproduce this issue 🤔 @@photorabz
When i turn the cam off, my mic reciever whether dji of rode turns off, and when i turn the xh2s on the receivers turns on as well automatically
@photorabz ok so like mine... In this case I don't know what cause the issue but i turn on/off the camera all the time (during wedding for example) and I never had problem with the audio so it's really strange... The only differences I see are in the settings so, can you trying using
Internal Mic 0
External Mic -7.5db
Mic level limiter ON
wind filter OFF
low cut filter OFF
and see if the issue is still there?

Using it in multi-mode has always been a part of the problem. For a talking head, using area, placing the box on your body or face, and using face or eye detection has always been the best practice.

Unfortunately some people might share the same concerns but prefer just to argue and be in the opposition (on facebook for example) whenever i share a video there i receive tons of msgs and comments that im wrong and everything works great and i am using my camera wrong and so on.
Using area the AF problems are even more worse… filming a Wedding you need to use area, as soon as a person moves the AF does freaky things…. absolutly horrable 🫣

If one want´s to rely on eye AF Fuji is the wrong brand to BEGIN WITH!
I am using the X-H2s and GH6 as a hobby. But if one makes money out of that and is a professional... isn´t focussing part of the job and why one chooses a pro? It isnt too long ago that one focussed manually ONLY. Even in sports.
Most video productions never ever use AF. And actually nobody will ever jump left and right and back and forward. At least noone should make a video from that: What kind of well-done-film is that?
For weddings events and so on you cannot have a focud puller and a full production team. So af is way needed

It is more the opposite: On Events, the most dumb thing one can do is to have just 1 Person in focus and all the other ones not.
But again: For that kind of wishes a Fuji is the wrong cam to begin with. Canon or Sony.

@@derJackistwegdude, Fuji advertises their cameras to do all types of photography: birds, sport, portraits, etc. Basically all types of photography, and we pay premium price for it.
The point is that Fujifilm should get their sh*t together and deliver what they promise. Why bother putting AI tracking that it gets worse with every FW update?
