Reason I ask is because I am interested to know how much of a difference in performance there is between these two older, trustworthy lenses and the brand new lens, and decide whether it's really worth making the leap for the new lens, or sticking with either of those older lenses for now.
@10:49 YES bro… i keep telling this to fuji. So glad someone they’d likely be more open to listening to has mentioned this. And Hopefully the take the step! It would work out so well for them and the community bro. Im honestly getting tired of the hybrid do-it-all approach. It’s cool but it’s time to get back to specialist cams imo.. in this case, a dedicated cinecam!
Early September I was on the IBC in Amsterdam. And oh yes, the GFX 100 II was _the_ big topic people from all kind of backgrounds and use-scenarios talked about. "Let's put all the FUJI stuff in a nice box-style cam, add a few little features here and there and ... boooom" - This is what I heard countless times. I am sure Fuji is aware ... Let's see what next year brings .... 🙂
Nice video. Hope Fuji don't forget their flagship APSC camera and continue with firmware update. Id like to see red frame when recording, waveform and false color, better AF.
I don't know if people need a Fuji production camera. What I do need is Flog 2 support into Davinci and better communication to DJI Ronin stabilizers for sure.
I shot with the X-T5 alongside my X-H2S a couple weeks ago and the X-T5 has the red box. Honestly I just found it distracting. I'm good with the dot. But having the option to turn it on and off would be fine.
Good reviews about xh2s. Im trying to purchase my first camera. Im thinking fujifilm xh2s (it's unique) or lumix s5ii. Im planning to use for wedding job. Which one do you think the best since you have used it.
@@CineDailies Only Sony or Canon are up for renting as option in my country. For fujifilm only medium format available gfx series. I'm quite familiar with Sony & Canon. All of my friends using these both brands but neither have tried fujifilm n Lumix. I'm attracted to fujifilm aspiration vision and being a bit different but can it do the job for client. As you claim it's not for production. That's why I'm seeking other option to Lumix s5ii. I don't know now
Really thinking of using the gfx 100 II for my next hybrid. Although It lacks the frame rates and doesn't use the full sensor. The image is as close as I can get for a fuji full frame.
Hello, thank you for the nice content.Which of these lenses would you recommend? For wedding shootings, short films and promotional works. 1) Sirui Night Walker 24mm T1.2 2) 7artisans 25mm T1.05 3) Meike 25mm t/2.2 4) What is your recommended lens or what lens do you use? For X-H2s
as I owner of Xs20 and Sony a7IV I would say it's really way enjoyable and easier to use Fuji as video camera . But when I need Af-c and low light performance I still go with Sony. But even screen on X20 ( 1300$) looks better than on a7IV( 2400$+) .
Hi, thanks a lot for your amazing work :) ! I was wondering how do you manage working with no display markers for different aspect ratios ? Many thanks !!
01:30 to be good in the filming industry, I'm just still waiting for a camera, with camera options. And not a dslr / mirrorless photo base camera. 11:40 - Okay then I agree haha I keep my x-t3 until I can't buy a fuji production CAMERA ! And if they wont in some years (2 or 3..) I guess I'll have to change my material... And I will go to sony unfortunatly.
My gripe with the GFX 100 II is that in video mode it basically just crops in to ~ full frame size, so kinda defeats the purpose of medium format for video.
lol ugh? There is a GF mode which is the full width of the sensor (which is wider than full frame). there is a Vista vision mode and a Full frame mode. I made a review showing the different sizes.
Hi, thanks for the info and great video. I'm currently in the process of buying a dedicated video camera. I'm confused about whether to buy the Fujifilm XH2S or the Sony FX3. I really like the power of the ISO on the FX3 and the performance in low light. What do you think about this? Or what would you recommend?
Any update on compatibility of DJI Transmission system and X-H2s? This would be a great s35 camera option but I'd need Lidar's 3D waveform via DJI transmission and if I understand you right, that's nowhere in the books.
What's your thought on the xs20? I am a hybrid shooter and have an xt5. The xh2s is a bit of a stretch at the moment. Another xt5 will also do but I like the opengate. But also better codecs and dual card slot
Hey bro, sorry if I missed it but did you record this video with the XH2S? What lens and did you color grade or is this a preset? I love the look, it’s why I’ve been looking for right now
But now you got me considering the Mavo mkii as the replacement I’ve been looking for to my Canon c100 mkii !! The c100mkii is a fantastic image, and working with the file sizes is such a breeze. For all our internal housework, we don’t require 4K as you can see from all our channel videos. But now finally in 2024 we are actually getting requests to make videos for other brands in 4K which I’m kind of bummed about.
I enjoy your videos. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that gets a notification when they drop. From the intro, I'm gonna presume the new Bmcc full frame from Blackmagic design is not doing it for you... That's totally a presumption on my part. But if I am right I would like to hear if it's mostly based on ergonomics. I just released a video on why I pre-ordered one. Cheers
Great video! I think Fuji’s built their “X” community around photographers, historically. Whereas Sony has a longer video tradition/community. I would think if they’re reluctant to create a dedicated video camera, it’s because they’re unsure if there’s enough buyers to get a return on their investment.
I think you’re right. It would be a whole new space. I’m confident that if they execute well, it would be a best seller. But it would have to have better AF than the XH-2S and would have to have internal NDs. Without those, it wouldn’t compete with the FX3/6 or the C70. It’s sad because those are video camera features, not Cine camera features but if we get real, the FX3/6 and C70 ARE video cameras that can play double duty as a cinema camera. Not very many people making films, other than The Creator, which is an anomaly, are buying $4-$6k video cameras. That crowd buys REDs, Venice and Arri mostly. These cameras largely get used for corporate, weddings, events more than actual filmmaking. And that’s okay. Everyone wants to feel like they could make a film with their video camera.
Could you please do a quick follow up on the compatibility with the blackmagic assist? I understand that you don't really need braw for your use case with the xh2s but I have a 6k pro and would like to get as close to matching footage as I can lol. Maybe it's improved a year later?
I think a battery grip where it will add additional features that will make the XH2s production ready is possible. As far as I can remember, the XH2s has a USB type C port at the bottom that they used for the media grip so I assume that Fuji can also use it for other stuffs.
Bro I picked up the GFX 100 II. It is AMAZING!!! I will post images on my Instagram. Also I use the GFX with a Fringer adapter for all of my EF lenses. DZO lensesseems to cover the entire sensor when shooting video. I need to test the Nisi Lenses on it
Been praying for a fuji cinema camera since the XH1 was released... here's to hoping that becomes reality. GFX 100 II is definitely a step towards it... but not quite enough.
As an X-S20 owner I hope they add all the new video features to all the cameras with the new processor. Very few of us are also GFX users. Sony has the best autofocus so they can get away with shafting their customers. 😂
Great video! Have you tested f-log2 from X-H2s with Ninja V? I recently bought X-H2s and I have Ninja V, I tried f-log from X-T3 and f-log2 from X-H2s and found differences in color (In Ninja V settings there’s one profile camera out f-log). Maybe you know the best option for setting up Ninja V with f-log2 from X-H2s (not prores raw)? Thanks!
@@CineDailies In our country Cfexpress much more expensive than SSD for Ninja and since I already have Ninja that I use with XT3, I decided to test it with XH2s.
Hey man! Great video and watched the whole thing even though I’m a LUMIX shooter. Wanted to learn more about shooting in 1080 and then upscaling to 4k. Why do that? I typically shoot on 4k or 6k and deliver in 1080p for most projects especially social media delivery. What benefits or reasons to shooting in 1080 and then upscale? Is this unique to Fuji for you or do you even do this on your mavo? Thanks!! Btw, I shoot on s1h and gh6.
I would love to see Fuji take the XH2s sensor and put it into a traditional camcorder style body with a really great fixed zoom lens. I feel like the cinema market is so saturated. I feel like there is a middle ground that makes more sense.
As an og bmp6k and xt30 owner, I’ve been eyeing the xh2s over the fx3 but the one thing that has me stumped is that the xh2s doesn’t accept ssd for records via usbc? Seems like a bit of a waste if this is still true
I have a question about noise issue you referring to at 9:00 - did you test the latest firmware yourself? Is it really better now? I literally spent all my night doing so on the latest 5.03 fw, and came to conclusion that it’s still the same - too much color noise and banding still visible in shadows. I tested F-Log and HLG too, and they look sooo much cleaner in 1080p, even at 4K regular FLog looks slightly better in terms of noise. Is my X-H2s broken somehow?.. I wish I can shoot F-Log2 in all situations, cause I prefer how colors look and highlights rolloff in it, but IMO it barely usable in lowlight :(
0:32 yes, that specific camera does have that medium format sensor; but, it is severely handicapped for video. It’s an amazing stills camera. But for video, 8k in s35 field of view (FOV)? Nowhere near medium format FOV. The maximum utilization of that medium format sensor is the width of the sensor in some 4K and 6K offerings. But not full-height. No open gate video either. So, unless they unlock that camera via firmware updates (granted the hardware supports it), it’s not even worth it for video. And based on CVP’s review of that camera, the video looks very…. videoy. And the rolling shutter is no bueno either. Heading in the right direction; but other offerings (e.g. the FX3, etc.) are so much better than that camera when it comes to video.
Great video man! Ive been on the fence with the xh2s because ive heard and noticed its very sharp, even with the sharpness settings dialed to the minimum. I have an xt3 and dont use it as much because its also on the "too sharp" side. Would you say its as bad as the xt3? or manageable with softer glass like lets say, canon fds? Thanks!
Sure - it all depends on the lenses you use too and filtration. I would rent it out with some lenses and test your self. The rokkors are nice on this sensor
@@CineDailies thanks for the reply man! Good to know. Cant rent one in my country, but if the xt3 is any reference i kinda know what to expect then. Thanks again!
-4 on sharpness and -4 on NR, using cine and vintage lenses de-sharpens our X-T3s just fine. You have to dial down the in-camera all of the way and then they are good. Same with the XH-2S. Don't use diffusion filters, sorry, they're lame and affected, not a fan of them. if you need to soften more, do it in post.
@@danbrockettDOP already there, still too sharp at times. My main cam is a Poket 4k, so the xt3 gets used sparingly. To each their own, i use a 1/8 promist all the time, i love it. Subtle enough that it is almost always used on my shoots
I recently bought the XH2s, and just finished my first production with it. I absolutely love the image, but the focusing system giving me headaches… When i use focus peak highlights, the highlights stay visible while recording, can’t find a way to turn it off. Any advice for best manual focus settings?
For sure - make a custom button for manual focus and auto focus. Keep peaking enabled with the manual focus, then when you switch between AF the peaking will go away. I'll make a reel to show you what I mean
@@CineDailies Thanks for the reply! But if i understand you correctly; That’s just a fast switch between MF and AF. But when i manually focus on something, and i’m sure it’s in focus, i don’t want to have to change anything in camera, or switch to another focus mode. I just want to press record and that the highlights dissapear.
They should produce a medium format 8k 60 (or dare I say 120) focused body. Shift out the stills features and focus on maybe pushing for 15 stops of DR. If they made one of these with the option of IBIS, it would crush the competition
I disagree about video assist tools and other features being nice-to-haves in the X-H2s because of the release of the X-S20, which has a bunch of features that are not in the X-H2s. As an X-H2s owner, I'm expecting a major firmware update to reposition the X-H2s as the flagship video camera because, right now, for features that are important to me, the X-S20 is a better camera at half the price. This feels like when they released the X-H1 years ago and then released the X-T3 a couple of months later and it was a better video camera, except it had no IBIS. The X-H1 never recovered as the flagship model. I really hope they don't do that again with the X-H2s. If so, I'll never buy another flagship model from Fuji. I'll just wait for whatever "lower tier" model comes out within the six months after the flagship because it will have better tech at half the price.
If it makes you feel any better, Sony screwed all the flagship A1 owners by neglecting firmware updates. There are rumors that there is a firmware update coming in December, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Ahhhh, this video was going well until you decide to squeeze in the segment about The Creator and "how it was shot on the FX3"... in a video about the XH2s.
RIGHT! yeah I am sure they are. and now is the time
Nice video. Hope Fuji don't forget their flagship APSC camera and continue with firmware update. Id like to see red frame when recording, waveform and false color, better AF.
For sure
A Fuji cinema camera would be dope!
RIGHT!?! only time will tell
I don't know if people need a Fuji production camera. What I do need is Flog 2 support into Davinci and better communication to DJI Ronin stabilizers for sure.
Great video! I have the Fuji X-H2s and really want to see a video showing how to get the best of it (includind best ISO settings). Tks! 🙏🏼
I shot with the X-T5 alongside my X-H2S a couple weeks ago and the X-T5 has the red box. Honestly I just found it distracting. I'm good with the dot. But having the option to turn it on and off would be fine.
It is exactly as You say, X-H2S its a powerhorse, for me as a traveler it's a perfect film tool that doesn't break my spine XD
absolutely
Good reviews about xh2s. Im trying to purchase my first camera. Im thinking fujifilm xh2s (it's unique) or lumix s5ii. Im planning to use for wedding job. Which one do you think the best since you have used it.
Can you rent either if them?
Love that idea - its honestly better than full frame
Hello, thank you for the nice content.Which of these lenses would you recommend? For wedding shootings, short films and promotional works.
1) Sirui Night Walker 24mm T1.2
2) 7artisans 25mm T1.05
3) Meike 25mm t/2.2
4) What is your recommended lens or what lens do you use?
For X-H2s
as I owner of Xs20 and Sony a7IV I would say it's really way enjoyable and easier to use Fuji as video camera .
For sure! Thanks for watching! I use an external monitor if I need to see multi aspect ratios
@@CineDailies thanks for your reply ! :) Which one(s) for example ? Because the markers don't work with the Atomos Ninja V (in 6K Open Gate)..
As always, an exceptionally well-made video. The quality is just so on point 🤩
Thank you so much - that means a lot! - was sick making this video haha
Great video bro ! I’d love to get my hands on this camera!
Hey bro, sorry if I missed it but did you record this video with the XH2S? What lens and did you color grade or is this a preset? I love the look, it’s why I’ve been looking for right now
I actually recorded this with my Mavo s35 mkii. With my 14mm nisi. Graded with the arri rec709 for the minr shot. Some shots were with the xh2s.
@@CineDailies thanks brother! I thought the video itself had such a great image I’m highly pleased with what you got even here!
Hello, you've mentioned that they fixed the noise in flog 1080, thats was only in flog? And did they fix the noise in 240p ? Great video as always!
Cheers
"they can't abandon their own flagship camera"
I remember buying an xh1
Dang - you right
@@CineDailies I also hope they don't do that again. I love my xh2 🤣
You are mkbhd 2.0 version
Great video as always. How good does the image quality compare with the Z cam? Thinking of getting one for gimbal setups.
Great video! I think Fuji’s built their “X” community around photographers, historically. Whereas Sony has a longer video tradition/community. I would think if they’re reluctant to create a dedicated video camera, it’s because they’re unsure if there’s enough buyers to get a return on their investment.
For sure - only time will tell
Will there be a FujiRaw, also it seems like Flog 1 is good for low light and Flog 2 is better for overall capture
Just give me touch tracking autofocus in video mode!
I know right haha
Could you please do a quick follow up on the compatibility with the blackmagic assist? I understand that you don't really need braw for your use case with the xh2s but I have a 6k pro and would like to get as close to matching footage as I can lol. Maybe it's improved a year later?
I probably don't have the time but are you able to rent? you could do your own testing.
I think a battery grip where it will add additional features that will make the XH2s production ready is possible. As far as I can remember, the XH2s has a USB type C port at the bottom that they used for the media grip so I assume that Fuji can also use it for other stuffs.
not so much for video production and the way I use the camera
Battery grips are bad ergonomics for video
Bro I picked up the GFX 100 II. It is AMAZING!!!
I will post images on my Instagram. Also I use the GFX with a Fringer adapter for all of my EF lenses. DZO lensesseems to cover the entire sensor when shooting video.
I need to test the Nisi Lenses on it
Been praying for a fuji cinema camera since the XH1 was released... here's to hoping that becomes reality. GFX 100 II is definitely a step towards it... but not quite enough.
always killing it brodie 🫶
Trying! Thanks fam!
I can’t set my xh2s to 120p, what I’m doing wrong? What I have to set for being able to set it?
May I ask which brand of adapter is used in the video? Also, I'd like to learn more about the quick-release plate for the camera.
As an X-S20 owner I hope they add all the new video features to all the cameras with the new processor. Very few of us are also GFX users. Sony has the best autofocus so they can get away with shafting their customers. 😂
What is this technique you talked about shooting 1080p to upscale later?
Great video! Have you tested f-log2 from X-H2s with Ninja V? I recently bought X-H2s and I have Ninja V, I tried f-log from X-T3 and f-log2 from X-H2s and found differences in color (In Ninja V settings there’s one profile camera out f-log). Maybe you know the best option for setting up Ninja V with f-log2 from X-H2s (not prores raw)? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I haven't bothered with atoms recorders, like I mentioned in the video. but are you recording pro res to the ninja v? why?
Oh lol its an old UA-cam hack to trick UA-cam playback into presenting 1080 P footage as 4K
@@CineDailies so for client deliveries you don’t shoot in 1080? Right? lol
@@ChrisFlores22 correct lol
@@CineDailies thanks for the clarification, I was about to have a workflow crisis lol thought you did that for a softer image or idk haha
I would love to see Fuji take the XH2s sensor and put it into a traditional camcorder style body with a really great fixed zoom lens. I feel like the cinema market is so saturated. I feel like there is a middle ground that makes more sense.
I have a sony a7 iv and two sony lenses.. but i'm thinking to sell all my sony stuff for fuji.. I'm crazy? The new fuji lenses are good for focusing?
What is your opinion on the newly released Fujifilm GFX 100 ii?
i was waiting for this one.......💌
:D
Was it worth the wait?
As an og bmp6k and xt30 owner, I’ve been eyeing the xh2s over the fx3 but the one thing that has me stumped is that the xh2s doesn’t accept ssd for records via usbc? Seems like a bit of a waste if this is still true
NOOOOOOO lol not a waste at all bro lol Cfast express type B is much better. besides, ssd external recording is risky if not properly rigged.
At 14:10 is that the smallrig XH2s cage behind you and what video tripod are you using in the back for UA-cam vlogs / static shots?
Dude i got the notification for your video but i couldnt find it anywhere on your channel
its fully live now - sorry about that!
What lenses do you use most with XH2S? Been looking at the DZO Vespids to use with the both XH2S and the BMPCC 6k Pro
I currently own a set of Minolta Rokkors, Nisi Athena's, Hello 44m-4, and Carl Zeiss Jenas
have you ever used Tc-1 or any kind of timecode on the Fuji?
I have a question about noise issue you referring to at 9:00 - did you test the latest firmware yourself? Is it really better now?
I literally spent all my night doing so on the latest 5.03 fw, and came to conclusion that it’s still the same - too much color noise and banding still visible in shadows. I tested F-Log and HLG too, and they look sooo much cleaner in 1080p, even at 4K regular FLog looks slightly better in terms of noise. Is my X-H2s broken somehow?..
I wish I can shoot F-Log2 in all situations, cause I prefer how colors look and highlights rolloff in it, but IMO it barely usable in lowlight :(
what lens will you use for set-and-forget talking head?
@@Taramundifilms yeah that won’t happen in this camera. Switching between the two is the fast way to disable the peaking
Great. Thanks 👍🏾
You bet!
Great video, man

nope
What’s wrong with the Blackmagic cinema 6k?
No Pro res option
Full frame isnt a big splash
Same old body
its still a great camera but there some things that I will point out in a future video
You are a professional...I'm not. My Wishlist looks different. Improving the AF in video, the Ibis, tap to focus in video, using own luts etc.
haha for sure, fujifilm will hopefully address this
Hahaha "YOU NEED TO LEAVE"

Not Nikon..... WAIT NOW ITS NIKON RED?!?!?! sooo maybe yes Nikon!
GO BIRDS!!!! 🦅

@@RandumbTech, the next FW update will be "Sony A1 II". Joking
“They can’t abandon their flagship” hehe boy, remember X-H1 😂

Ahhhh, this video was going well until you decide to squeeze in the segment about The Creator and "how it was shot on the FX3"... in a video about the XH2s. That segment felt forced and felt like it was inserted for the sake of being like every other UA-camr who is doing the same video/segment as well. Did not expect this coming from you
okay lol the point was that any camera be used on any project. I was ranting about how the xh2s is not a production camera and yet, the fx3 was the camera of choice on a Hollywood film. so I felt it was appropriate to mention. that ruined your experience watch this video. tough.
@CineDailies it's more like we as the viewer come back to you because of your style of video. You usually don't give into the hype and give us some honest opinions on products. You have a distinct style that stands out from all the other copy/paste youtubers so the FX3 segment was like, "well since everyone is making this video right now, I gotta add it in here!". At the end of the day, it's your channel, your videos but it did seem like your usual style. I personally don't want you to go to the route doing what everyone else is doing because you are unique

This is why youtube creators are silly. He says you can create good images with super 35 if you know what you're doing. Without knowing the fact that almost all of cinema's history, cameras have been mainly super 35. Go look it up, genius. All of movie history you ever enjoyed is "super 35". LOL Also this guy says camera has 14 stops of dynamic range but has no idea those are advertised ones. Real clean ones are under 12 stops.
Feel better now? Also, that is my sentiment, the fact that MOST up coming filmmakers and seasoned vets think super 35 is inferior to full frame. Which we know that’s not true as you stated. Anyway, I hope you are making great work as a cinematographer. Feel free not to waste your time watching my videos ;) since you think I am “silly UA-cam creator”
