Watching the attempt to learn videos I kinda forgot you weren’t human. Let me point out that when I heard your band year’s back I was blown away by the skill and musicality. Unbelievable music 🔥 cheers!!
As a guitarist, I think it's natural to be critical of other guitarists but when I see Dean play, his combination of stunning accuracy and winning personally completely and utterly subdues me.
I just noticed a few differences between yours and Tobi's playing that layer the song in a specific way: 1. Intro riff - Tobi: All down picks; Dean: Alternate picks 2. Asc/dsc. diminished runs - Tobi: Hammer-on/Pull-offs; Dean: 2 notes/string picking (neck pickup) 3. Octave/sweeping part - Tobi: Bridge p.u. for octaves, neck p.u. for sweeps; Dean: All neck *this causes Tobi to miss 1 single 16th note 4. Chords - Dean does a lot more upstrokes than Tobi This song started me on Archspire since 2014 and I'm still learning stuff from it. Masters.
Wow good job man. This is the best cover I've ever seen for this song. Tone and notes were spot on. Did you learn by ear tabs. Either way sick. You could probably play for Archspire with those skill bud.
Now people can just open 4 browser tabs, play the bass playthrough, drum playthrough, this and the other guitar playthrough and get a full band online performance
this is honestly my FAVORITE song of yours, and i've heard them all... over and over and over. i'm obsessed with you guys. the solo gives me CHILLS every fucking time.
Watching this over and over again. Actually not my regular type of music but I just cannot believe someone is able to write and play stuff like this (and actually really dig this song/your band). Very! Very! Impressive!
Sup Dean, Djentvin here, for many years, ive been an selfteach guitarist, got my own band, and i really never got a "inspiration guitarist" to play, its just me, like two months ago i discover your channel, Archspire and your videos with Claire (a lot of fun watching them), the way you play guitar its another level for me, and now im feeling stuck on my playing, but the answer its simple, play Archspire songs, helps a lot to progress in my picking technique, so thanks Dean, youre now my inspiration to get better, and i hope i can upload a cover of this song
Dude It was almost 6 years ago when I heard this song for the first time and I was fucking blown away! It’s nice to see the humble and kind character behind that song after 6 years with “Dean&Claire attempt to learn” series. Glad I got to encounter your channel and your amazing content. Cheers 🤟
@Matthew Davies yeah the sweeps, and the really fast up and down string skippingwhile hitting like 4 frets back and forth all up and down the frets, and then going into a super chuggy far apart squeal thing then sliding up nd down the strings would be tough i feel like for her based off stuff she had trouble with in the past(not that i can play any of this)
I can put on a metal station and so many bands will all sound alike, but Archspire stands out as having their own sound and doing it very well. Love your work - thanks for the vids.
Have spent 3 weeks with covid bingeing your channel. Archspire are one of my favourite bands of all time but your content is just so damn good. Please do a Bleed the Future play through, and hope you guys are staying safe in these crazy times!
3:01 I love this tapping section... the change in............. amounts of notes between passages is the exact right amount of change... wait I mean the rhythm is what im talking about but yes
dean plays as smoothly as those world championship AIRGUITAR competion... the only difference is that he is actually playing a guitar... his handwork is the most fluid i have ever seen!!! he is of the few guitarist that simply went beyond technique up to a point were it all groove... this takes crazy practice to overcome that super technical and rigid playstyle most have... he is relaxed and liquid
This video is the kind that make me ask myself: why do I even try to play guitar? It is inspiring and depressing at equal parts :P Joking aside, keep the good work. Your channel has become my second favorite these days (just after Ola). Super nice content, and you and Claire are super fun to watch :)
Due to all the incredible content on your channel now i almost forgot that THIS is the reason why i sub'ed in the first place. Truly phenomenal skillz n techniques
Damn, that right hand technique and articulation. I've always believed that right hand is the actual limiting factor to guitar. This song proves it lol
I used to constantly check my knobs and pickup selector on my Ibanez 7620, to the annoyance of the other guitar player in the band. It's funny to see someone else do it, lol!
It's always clear in other videos that you're an amazing guitarist but sometimes it's easy to forget that you're literally in one of the most insane tech death bands to ever exist. Mind-blowing stuff, is "just do all of them" a legitimate song request?
damn it Dean.. you and your guitar playing , your whole band are all beasts!!!!! I watched your bassisist, your drummer, your singer, ... and Toby ... your other brotha.
YESSS!!!! I knew this was a very musically impressive song, (as all Archspire songs are) but watching you play it, really enabled me to analyze it. Couple quick highlights from me, would be how intricate the riffs are. Extremely fast sweeping, and that tap section towards the end was insane!
You are going to see the same comment from me on every single Dean vid. Get used to it! Tobi's play through vid of this is what got me into Archspire actually. Still in awe of you two playing wise. Yet, there is still one thing that I love watching you two do...the damn pickup selector switch!! It's like a freaking hummingbird! It's hysterical on Dean learning vids. Even learning he has to do it. A fun side bonus.
@@megandrover340 if you get to see them: Prepare yourself for some otherworldly experience :D my jaw fucking dropped when the drummer was warming up :o And i listen to a lot of tech death bands lol
I began to learn and play the Tobi Morelli "Lucid Collective Somnambulation" guitar tab's. Dean Lamb guitar tab will be my second project because of level of difficulty.
Tobi's playthrough had the pick-up switches for the sweeps for the part at 1:09, and you're just playing it on the neck pup... Step your game up man! 😝 No but in all seriousness... Sweet...
Due to our current situation, I'm now taking requests for Archspire song playthrough videos :)
Let me know what you want to see!
Dark Horizontal!
Relentless Mutation or Dark Horizontal
I notice no one has asked for this yet: something off the new record, or maybe some teasers?
Dark Horizontal
PLEASE I would love to see you do a playthrough of A Dark Horizontal
Make a Dean Attempts to learn Tobi's solo
Call it Lamb Slops?
Force him to do it against his will.
A whole series of "Dean attempts to learn all of Tobi's parts"
I think Tobi should learn Dean's solo in the middle of Drain Of Incarnation and play his and Dean's through as a single solo.
The cleanest sweeps I have ever witnessed.
Between Archspire and Necrophagist I am endlessly inspired to practice and learn all these songs
Hey great!
Endlessly is the right word used here 😎

Seriously like that other comment said, you've done a really good job of making us forget that you're an alien.
Now people can just open 4 browser tabs, play the bass playthrough, drum playthrough, this and the other guitar playthrough and get a full band online performance

I played both guitar parts at once and it was insane

For sure my favorite song. This song has every identifiable Archspire trait. Everyone fucking shines.

Reminds me of something i've heard on a Necrophagist record, especially the opening.
Diminished to B
Staytech bro
Nice Origin vibes as well.
That’s high praise

Yeah technical death metal is pretty intense. It can be insane, but also beautiful with lots of cool melodic passages.

I would love to see a playthrough of The Mimic Well, also.
Thank you!

First Archspire song and album I ever heard back in 2017 through a deezer recommendation and I've been a fan ever since.

@Matthew Davies just do it like jason richardson and finger every note on every sweep xD. He has tutorials on that

Tutorial on how to do those barred sweeps please!
Awesome! You should do more of these! I always enjoy seeing how you play your stuff.
My favourite song of 2020 undoubtedly.

It's so hard to hit the right timing, but I love to watch Tobis's and your playthrough simultaneously
So here it is, the secret nobody tells you about sweep picking. In order to increase your speed, you gotta move your guitar up and down as well 3:44
Perfect time to learn First Fragment. Lol.
Thanks for inspiring us, amazing tone and technique
