@@mutilated679 I feel like the traditional way would be faster but some people learn the non traditional way at first and stick with it
Travis Hunt UA-cam PhD I didn’t learn anything unfortunately. I’m 100% self taught and I’ve always held my pick like that. Helps me personally with pinch harmonics and tremolo picking

I talked to Tobi for a good 10-15 minutes before their show last night in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (they opened for Whitechapel) - what a nice, down to Earth guy. For someone so insanely talented, he was so approachable and as humble as can be. Really glad I had the opportunity to talk to him! Long live Archspire 🤘🤘

this band is so tight live. Everybody is always on their game which is amazing seeing how every one of their songs is hard as hell to play. I've been playing close to 16 years now and I still can't get down a full archspire song. And then you got Nick Jonas screwing up a 5 note solo hahahahaha. these guys deserve so oooooooo much and I hope they get more success then they ever dreamed of
I always wondered what they think when composing such complex songs considering they have to perform live

I thought the same...what an amazing recording. Not sure what they did differently but holy moly it looked very very good.
I noticed the lighting was brighter and they may have actually used a sharpener in post.

It's true, which makes them probably the greatest fucking band ever. I saw em last weekend & Tobi was running the merch table by himself all night as he was playing guitar and warming up. All smiles man, it was amazing to see.

Flawless. One the very few true organic tech guitarsists, and not guitar pro, human hand-syncing flesh slaves I see everywhere. Much inspiration to be had from this band

This video is awesome in so many ways, the camera, the production, the guitar, the guitarist.... so much awesome. The sweeps are freaking insane, but 1:59 looks almost even more intense. I don't play the guitar so I don't really know for sure.

I was never into this Kind of music, but the technically involved is impressive. Great musicianship and interesting "reversed" picking technique as well.
@@Raittarian what he mentions has nothing to do with pick slanting. Morelly is angling the pick upwards (to the neck) in tremolo and in sweep picking and donwnwards (to the bridge) when down picking. Pick slanting is angle up (to the ceiling) or down (to the floor) related to the perpendicular plane of the strings
i do the same thing with my downpicks. it gives the downpicks a more full sound and i always accidentally gallop if i downpick with the pick being slanted anyways, so it sort of acts like a safety net.
True piece of art very unique with an intricate design and I like the guitar too .

This way is so good in general but I just hate how one has to flip it over for pinch harmonics.

There’s gonna be a time where these guys are gonna play at 600 bpm and still be as tight as they were at 300 bpm

Instead of using the Whammy pedal to make rapid pitch-shifts, Morelli does sweeps.
What sacares.me most is how the hell he can change the pick angle so dramatically at that speed being efficient and clean all the time. Incredible

I've considered getting a fanned fret for a while, but I tried one in the store once and stuff like sweeping just felt too awkward compared to a normal guitar. If anyone here owns a fanned fret guitar, how long did it take to get used to sweeping and other shreddy stuff on it?
