  • Germinating and growing time-lapse of a cherry fruit tree from a fresh seed or pit. Cherry seeds will need to go through a cold stratification to germinate properly. To sped up this process, we carefully removed all the flesh and broke the outer shell before wrapping its core with a moist paper tower and sealed inside a zip lock bag. The core was then chilled in a fridge at a temperature of 32 to 40°F for 2 months. After that, it was planted in a pot with moist soil. It took an additional 10 days to see a baby cherry tree coming up. The plant grew very fast with lots of leaves. After 80 days from the sowing day, our cherry tree reach about 4ft in height, and kept growing very strong.

    Been inadvertently growing a cherry tree for at least a year now. All that time, thinking it was a seedling germinated naturally from the apple tree in my own garden, but this spring, it blossomed for the first time ever, at the same time as my neighbors cherry tree. My apple tree blossoms up to two months later. Cherry tree seedling is now over two feet high, planted in a pot outdoors, starting to sprout small branches, looking strong and healthy with no special care or fertilizer feeding.

    I just discovered your channel and I think it's amazing! I speak Spanish so I use the translator. Do you have any tips for growing fruit? It would be nice if you also put texts explaining what you do or things like that. I will show this content to people I know because it is great what you do.

    Hello! I've been growing a cherry plant for about 2 months now, 2 of the leaves are actually starting to grow a cherry. Somehow I was supposed to smash the cherry seed but I didn't and it still grew. Btw your tree is so tall but I just don't see the cherries. New Subscriber!

      It's a baby tree... It will take time for fruits....about 2 or 3 years for growth only and approx. 7 to 10 years for fruits🥲✨✨

      U don't need to smash the pit, if you don't it just takes more time to grow coz it has to also crack through it by itself

    Thanks for the great video. I have some Rainier seeds and will stratify them until the end of May. Winter and cold temps come to Colorado in October so that gives the trees 4 months of growth. How do I over winter these guys? Thanks!

    assuming you just started this growth, can you estimate when you plant will produce fruit and do cherry trees need partner plants for pollination? Thanks for the Video.

      @eLapseTime  Рік тому +8

      It might take 5 to 10 years without guarantee. If you plant for producing fruits, I would suggest to get grafting trees from nurseries for a better result. Most cherry varieties require cross-pollination, so you will need 2 or more.

      @@eLapseTime Thank you , I appreciate you getting back to me. I think I might just buy a couple of trees from my local nursery, but in Central Ontario I will have to wait until spring now. Thanks again

    I started a plant from seed, but after 150+ days, mine is nowhere near the size of yours. It's healthy and green, just not growing as fast. Did you use fertilizer? If so, what kind?

    I have about 15 seeds of these Cherries that germinated in the fridge and now they are about 2-4 inches tall. I left them in the fridge for about 3 to 4 months. They have been now in pots for about a month. Where would they do better (Full Sun, Partial Sun, Shade)?

    • @thrilleex
      @thrilleex 4 місяці тому +1

      They love full sun but can do with partial.
      By the way, if you break the hard shell of the seed you only need them to be on the fridge for 2 weeks

    Hi, can you tell me how frequently did you water it after planting it to the pot? Does the frequency change before or after it sprouted (you started to see the leaves)? I know it changes depending on weather and soil, but a ballpark figure would still be very helpful.

    • @eLapseTime
      @eLapseTime  10 місяців тому +3

      We watered it every time the soil surface looked dry (typically 2 times per week).

    IF your tree gets big enough to bear fruit, just know the fruit will not be like the fruit you got the seed from. It will revert to type. The cherry you bought at the store was from a hybrid tree.
