You might know a swat team is coming after you, it's not outside the realm of possibility to have a prepared hiding spot. In a real world situation you might've had a recent encounter with the police, you might hear them break in the front door and run to your spot. It's not *entirely* outside the scope of reasonable expectations, especially when dealing with white-collar or high-level mafia. Given that his hiding spot only required about 30 seconds to get into, a reasonable criminal could prepare such a spot months in advance and then only use it when needed. A hiding space in the kitchen and a cell phone could accomplish the same scenario. Swat teams are trained to deal with strategic and tactical situations - an individual hiding in an unusual space isn't outside the scope of their training. They should've known something was up when the caterer's attempted to leave what would presumably be an active crime scene. I do think being on a television show might affect their performance, as in a real situation they would've flipped the room HARD and on TV they might want to play down the destructive level of a normal swat invasion - if SWAT is called, generally it's very serious and property damage (even cakes) aren't really a concern. I have to admit, creating the cake-at-the-door situation probably added a lot to that. Having civilians on scene does create chaos. I wouldn't fault the team - it was a good plan, and even swat teams mess up. Strategically had they been following their training properly they probably would've caught him - but human error always happens, even to the best trained men.
Well to be realistic a real life situation would have a LOT of swat teams patrolling the area around the warehouse so even if he made it out he would still be caught
Depends on why they’re there. If it’s a hostage rescue and they know there’s only one subject, maybe not. If they’re hitting a house on a search warrant, everyone inside is probably getting cuffed until they’re ID’d and it’s determined whether or not they are involved in a crime. If this had been a real situation, those people probably would have been detained until he was found.
I hope people don't actually believe that this guy can a escape a real swat team. Because a real swat team would have more than 3 officers and more resources such air support and enough officers to cover every exit and not let anyone leave the area without being throughly searched .

You might know a swat team is coming after you, it's not outside the realm of possibility to have a prepared hiding spot. In a real world situation you might've had a recent encounter with the police, you might hear them break in the front door and run to your spot. It's not *entirely* outside the scope of reasonable expectations, especially when dealing with white-collar or high-level mafia.
Given that his hiding spot only required about 30 seconds to get into, a reasonable criminal could prepare such a spot months in advance and then only use it when needed. A hiding space in the kitchen and a cell phone could accomplish the same scenario.
Swat teams are trained to deal with strategic and tactical situations - an individual hiding in an unusual space isn't outside the scope of their training. They should've known something was up when the caterer's attempted to leave what would presumably be an active crime scene.
I do think being on a television show might affect their performance, as in a real situation they would've flipped the room HARD and on TV they might want to play down the destructive level of a normal swat invasion - if SWAT is called, generally it's very serious and property damage (even cakes) aren't really a concern.
I have to admit, creating the cake-at-the-door situation probably added a lot to that. Having civilians on scene does create chaos.
I wouldn't fault the team - it was a good plan, and even swat teams mess up. Strategically had they been following their training properly they probably would've caught him - but human error always happens, even to the best trained men.

Depends on why they’re there. If it’s a hostage rescue and they know there’s only one subject, maybe not. If they’re hitting a house on a search warrant, everyone inside is probably getting cuffed until they’re ID’d and it’s determined whether or not they are involved in a crime. If this had been a real situation, those people probably would have been detained until he was found.

I hope people don't actually believe that this guy can a escape a real swat team. Because a real swat team would have more than 3 officers and more resources such air support and enough officers to cover every exit and not let anyone leave the area without being throughly searched .
