- This is the iDoing Android 8.0 Oreo Cortex-A53 Head Unit which fits the 2008 - 2012 Subaru Forester. It is a complete swap, plug n play with the full bezels etc. and can incorporate backup camera and OBD Reader Bluetooth, with Navigation. This may also fit similar dash/ console setup in the GR Hatch WRX / STI's (but I have not tested this, although they make one specific, it looks nearly identical.)

I know this is a couple years old now, but I'm installing one in my '09 FXT at the moment and was wondering about the antenna connection for the radio. Do you cut & splice into your OEM harness antenna wire - connect to blue wire on iDoing plug?
My car has a factory USB connector going to the radio. Is there an adapter needed for the OEM USB to work?

Nice! This is identical to SYGAV's setups. Does anyone know who actually manufacturers these? Even on "more reputable" (better reviewed at least) brands like the Sygav, there is little to know information regarding resolution, audio chipset, etc. Any CPU performance tests? A lot of them are advertised updated, 8 core and 4GB RAM....this is very easy to fake. Especially since it uses it's own loader and skin.

Great video, just one question; when u removed original radio u removed 4 screws.. this new one have this frame around it and i didnt noticed that you screw it in place, how does it hold in there? Did you just slide it in there and that’s enough? :o
the 4 screws are connected to brackets that screw onto the stock head unit. You can take off those 4 brackets and put them on this head unit
I have the basic forester 2010...no steering whell bottons...any way i could control the radio without touching the screen?maybe like an adapter or somthing?
heard there may have been some bugs but did you experience any of that?

Ah this was 2 years ago now so I ended up selling the car long ago
The steering wheel controls don't seem to work, I bought exactly the one shown in the video, the unit itself works but not the steering wheel controls, I followed everything step by step. I did have the OEM unit with navigation tho, don't know if that plays a roll...
You mean you tried the Steering wheel button learning mode @8:20 and that didn't work? You paired the buttons with the head unit functions and none of that worked?

Hi. Also a 2010 impreza owner here.I was looking for a head unit myself and found this video. Just ordered one. When you order in their store, they would ask you for pictures on your interior, so that it would be a right fit. Very Easy to contact staff and prompt on their responses.

the ebay ad for this says if the original head unit is the Kenwood navigation one, this won't fit.....
I’m sorry man I have no idea anymore this one we did back in 2018, I think it’s quite outdated now there’s probably a lot newer units out there
How long is the bootup time? Somehow the "first boot" was instant but at the very beginning of your video you have a bootup process of it shown but there is a cut in the middle so you don't know how long it really takes.
It does not change, the one at the beginning is just cut short in the editing process. There isn't much factors that would change that to cause it to be slower or faster to bootup, like with any Android OS.

Yup it has loud mode, but not sure about surround circle, you can adjust the forward back left right sound balance.

No unfortunately but I'd really recommend checking out an audio installer place like bestbuy etc. whatever you have local to see what options they have for headunits because in the end of this, I honestly didnt' enjoy the android headunit, it was so clunky, so complex, over time it got slower, etc.

No, sadly, you have to mount the provided microphone somewhere.
did you have any problems configuring the steering wheel controls? i cant seem to get mine to work. sometimes i get 1 button to work -_-

@@sebastiangiry2111 no i had a stock regular radio, not the nav. i have got the radio to work with 3 buttons now. there maybe light at the end of the tunnel, i think it takes time for this dumb radio to learn properly. I noticed that it learns best after the car has been off for some time. so in other words i try to reprogram it once or twice a day after when i first use the car after it sits for hours
@vincent caraballo hey we’re you able to get all the steering wheel controls to work? I just bought one and i was only able to get one button to work. I was gonna try wiring the Axxess steering wheel control module from my old stereo and curious to see if that works for me

I wouldn't buy another android headunit personally. I just found it to be very non-intuitive and so complex going through the different screens, menus, etc. and the GPS wasn't very good at all, very very slow and clunky. I'd honestly just keep OEM nowadays.

@@luckylucy2950 my biggest suggestions would be to try and find a local shop that carriers the brand name ones, Focal Audio, JBL, Kenwood, Alpine, Sony, Etc!
And also a lot of people think a new headunit will have better sound quality but honestly in my Subaru o had actually paid a shop to wire in all new speakers, subwoofer, and amplifier onto my OEM wiring, and that made a way bigger difference in sound quality than the headunit ever did, the headunit didn’t change much at all for me once I had the better speakers

Is this still reliable and fast after some time?
Been good so far! Only complaint was the microphone for phone calls wasn't very good sound quality.
Having an issue with the sound on this head unit. After 45 minutes of driving the sound cuts out and transmits static with the only resolution being to turn the car off and on again. Customer service hasn't been able to assist in resolving the issue.
@@erikcook4967 I like iDoings design but i'll rather pick some branded touchscreen radios due to quality of the sound. Thanks for reply tho 😊
@@SpencerHogg Did you ever figure out a solution to the poor mic quality? I've been having a number of issues with the head unit as well and have not had any help from iDoing.

Hard for me to back-track and answer questions on a year old video unfortunately, I don't have this vehicle any longer. Google exists for a reason, however, and a quick bit of reading on the products page would help answer many questions!
