  • Join us for an exhilarating day at the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre as we capture the awe-inspiring maneuvers of classic De Havilland seaplanes. Witness the majestic landing of a De Havilland Beaver, followed by two De Havilland Otters taking off, including the historic serial #3, the oldest Otter still flying. Experience another Beaver landing and the grand finale of yet another graceful Beaver descent. Enjoy the vibrant sounds of ATC and pilot communications on this beautiful day at the harbour.
Welcome to the lounge at Vancouver Harbour in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Before we embark on this thrilling adventure, it's important to acknowledge that I filmed this aerial spectacle within the shared, unceded ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We express our heartfelt gratitude to these Indigenous communities for their enduring stewardship of the land.
My channel is dedicated to bringing you new flight adventures every weekend, allowing you to explore the world of planes, trains, automobiles, food reviews, and tourist attractions in the vibrant capital city of Victoria, Vancouver, British Columbia and across this vast country of Canada. As my horizons expand, so do the journeys across the vast and beautiful landscapes of Canada. New flights are added to the Planes Playlist at 4:00 am Pacific time every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are almost 200 seaplane videos in the Planes playlist. Thanks for taking your front row seat with a first class ticket in the lounge.
In the spirit of giving back, my channel is monetized, and I am thrilled to share that 10% of my earnings will be donated to various charitable organizations. By tuning in, you're not just enjoying captivating content; you're also contributing to a greater good. Together, we can make a difference!
Thank you for joining us on this aviation adventure at Vancouver Harbour. Your support means the world to me. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more thrilling adventures! Stay tuned for more exhilarating experiences from the skies above and beyond! ✈️🌍

It is a testimony to the DH engineers that designed the Beaver and Otter in the late 1940s. No computers, just pen and paper, slide rules and very smart people. True pioneers in their day. Not sure if they even had wind tunnels to verify the aerodynamics of their designs.

@hamradio3716, it is quite remarkable that these aircraft are as good today as the day they came off the line. Your words said it perfectly a testimony to the DH engineers that designed these amazing machines. I am truly grateful for your kind words and support, thank you. Best...Corrie

Yes they did have wind tunnels and they weren't exactly a new idea even then.

Number of Beavers built and Survivors:
    DHC-2 Mk.1 1631 aircraft with 450 hp P&W Wasp Junior
DHC-2 Mk.2 One only with 550 hp Alvis Leonides 502/4 engine
I believe the Mk.1 had a turbocharged engine. I remember a Beaver pilot telling me that when you take off on a small lake, they use maximum boost on the turbocharger to get the plane in the air as quickly as possible - running out of water on a lake takeoff is a really bad scene …

Another wonderful presentation Corrie. I wish I had your skill, I might even be tempted to post videos then. I don't think many of us originally came to the lounge to share our knowledge more that we came for the seaplanes and sharing knowledge just stemmed from the questions asked by some of the passengers in the lounge.

@mothmagic1, Ian, you hit the nail on the head! I started this UA-cam journey and somehow seaplanes found me. I've always had a fascination with seaplanes and just started recording them. I posted a few poor quality seaplane videos that somehow got discovered and watched. I knew almost nothing about aviation, and still really don't know that much. My fascination is to watch them, the education is an added bonus. My focus, is to keep my camera focused...lol. My videography and my editing have improved immensely and I will continue to improve. I am sincere when I say, thanks for your kind words, engagement and support. Best...Corrie

@@leftcoastcorrie Buffalo Joe is associated with Buffalo Airways with hangers in Hay River, Red Deer and Yellowknife. Jay Caldwell was working for a company to do with Otters in I think Trenton On. BL Aviation also has a broad knowledge on various aircraft and re and re's propellers.
