The AI wants to take down the walls before using melee/cavalry to attack the city, which is technically a smart plan. However the defensive AI smartly targets the siege units first which leaves the attacker with no way to take down the walls, and as a result the melee units just sit there doing nothing waiting for another catapult. Rome was lucky that they got the walls low enough before their catapults died.
Also those barbarians are Rebels due to War weariness, maybe you should use a mod to limit war weariness a bit as it is not a balanced system at the moment nor one that the AI handles well.

Great series! I love the AI battles. I will say, what I'm really enjoying is some of of very historical moves the AI's are making.
Rome, essentially grabbing the Mediterranean. America, take what was more or less the 13 colonies. England forward settling into France has some sense to it. There's a lot of places on the map you could swear history was playing out. Very cool. Hell the Russia having to push back Scythia... Keeping those East Barbarians at bay. Very nice.

I'll have to edit my top 3 a little and replace Japan with Aztecs. I was sure the Aztecs would be in trouble from being boxed in by USA/Japan/Brazil, and that the Japanese samurai would prove their downfall. However Japan failed miserably and now Aztecs are gonna swoop up American cities since Japan decided to also declare instead of befriending them. Japan will soon have their samurai obsolete, and Aztecs with their immense amount of cities could snowball into a late game monster, especially if they take USA now.
So the top 3 (in no particular order) now would be:
Aztecs, Rome and Kongo.
Although wars brewing in asia could spell a new major power very soon.
Drew I like your AL series it would be nice if you do more uploads of AL only gameplay.

you really need to add mods to make it easier for AI to take cities. Only 2 cities in the entire game have been captured. These AI only battles will end only be interesting in seeing the colonization at this rate.

There is mod which enables you to see all stats even if you only have a few victory conditions turned on (think it's called AllWorldRank). But yeah more importantly you should definitely play this with AI+ on (up to v9 on Civfanatics now)

It was clear from the start that Germany will struggle. Sourounded by Norway, France, Poland and the Alps + Greece and Rome in the south or a Civs whose biggest strength only play out in true ICS ...
And there go the Aztecs proving me wrong, and the Japanese going turncoat and ganging up on America rather than taking Montezuma in the flank. I'm not giving up on Teddy just yet though. If he can survive this, his rough riders will put him back on the map.
America hasn't been building troops or improving their cities at all since the last war. I know it sometimes happened in Civ 5, where a beaten AI next to a powerful civ would just stop playing completely and wait to get killed in the next war that comes.

The problem with the domination-only victory is the AI is really bad at combat. Like really bad. I wouldn't be surprised if turn 400 hits and no one has captured a capital. You may have to end this and declare no one the winner.

I am not familiar with Civ 6 yet, so i don't know the new mechanics. Is there any way Aztecs could have stolen production or something when they peaced America out last time? It doesn't seem like he has been improving his cities at all also. I know in Civ 5, AI who were badly beaten and next to a powerful neighbor would sometimes just completely stop playing and wait for another war to finish them off, maybe the same is happening here?

No - the games settings may be on medium automatically, if you go into settings and up the graphics the animations should work

The reason for the mispronunciation is probably the fact that there is an American city with the same spelling but with the distinctly nonbritish pronunciation.
Awesome Gameing don't fault Drew. He's American.. We still pronounce stuff phonetically. It's a hard habit to break.
