    Hey Chuck, good video as always. I ran into the same "problem" you have, once I started swapping in LED bulbs I couldn't stop. I've had no problems with any exterior lights in either my Grand Marquis nor my Crown Vic, except the side markers on the Vic.
    I originally swapped in these Sylvania bulbs but like you said, since there's only 1 chip, I was a little disappointed in the light output. So I took to Amazon to find some Chinese LEDs and I found a pair for $10 and they worked great for about 6 months. They were brighter than the Sylvanias, but after 6 months chips started failing on one bulb and the entire other bulb began flickering on and off while driving. Now I currently have another brand of Chinese LEDs that I bought on Amazon at 4 for $10. We'll see how long these last, as these are also brighter than the Sylvanias.
    Moral of the story is you get what you pay for, and the desire to have bright LEDs usually ends up in an endless black hole of research and money.
    Best,
    Ed

I was going to go with Amazon lights like you were as well and I bought some white LEDs for reverse lights for my 98xj Cherokee. Hi again. You noted that the Sylvania ambers use 27 mA while the original halogens use way more. Does not having resistors for the turn signals/side markers cause hyperflash? Do they still draw the same amount of load as the halogens did?
    Thanks

      Yo PSG,
      Thanks for coming back.
      I think you might have the turn signals, and side marker bulbs mixed up.
      The side marker bulbs do not flash with the turn signals. They only illuminate when you turn on the parking lamps.
      Go take a look at your car, and run through all the lighting controls to check.

    • @PanzerPlatform
      @PanzerPlatform  2 роки тому

      Right on Josh,
      That's the eternal question everyone wants to know for every bulb on the car. lol
      Everyone has a different application, and there are too many variables to give an accurate answer for that question.
      When it comes to replacing halogen bulbs with LED on a car there is a chance you will not be pleased with the final outcome.
      Too bright.
      Not bright enough.
      Poor light diffusion.
      Poor light pattern.
      Doesn't fit the assembly properly.
      It's a game of "buy & try".
      So the only advice I offer is to buy from a retailer that has a 100% "cash refund" no hassle return policy if he bulb does not perform as expected.
      This usually limits my purchased to Amazon, or Walmart.
      All other retailers usually have a re-stocking fee, or you have to pay return shipping, or they do not accept returns period.

    Hey there,
    I really enjoy your UA-cam videos. I have a 2009 P71 and I'm ready for exterior lighting upgrades. You have me sold on the Zevo 3157R for taillights, and the Auxito reverse lights. I'm just needing clarification on the amber fronts you would choose (the ones in your vic, or the mgm?) and which headlight bulb you use.
    Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

    • @PanzerPlatform
      @PanzerPlatform  4 роки тому +1

      Yo Rob,
      Thanks for the kind words. I’ll give you my recommendations for all the bulbs on the front end of the car, as if I were buying them for my ‘04 Vic with my own cash money.
      As a general rule of thumb, I only buy LED bulbs from retailers with 100% refund return policies of 30, or 90 days. This usually means Amazon Prime, Local Walmart Stores, Walmart.com, and in the some cases eBay. I have yet to find an independent LED bulb manufacturer / retailer that provides a “zero risk trial period”. They usually have some form of restocking fee, return shipping fee, or RMA return procedure that complicates the return process.
      This is important because you’re installing a “high tech” LED bulb, in a “low tech” reflector housing designed to function with conventional halogen bulbs. Any LED bulb you install in your factory head lamp assembly is going to be disappointing in some respect. Example, they may look good on low beam, but barely improve the high beam setting. If you live in an area where you need to use the high beams frequently, it will be more cost effective, and better value for money to install a 24" LED light bar behind the honeycomb grill of your P71.
      Also, you’ll need to decide how to fix the hyper-flash issue, when installing LED turn signal bulbs in a Panther car. I recommend installing an “Electronic LED Compatible Flasher Relay”. If you’re unwilling, or unable to perform that modification, I recommend hardwiring quality Sylvania brand name resistors (3” in length). I do not recommend unbranded resistors (2” in length).
      As far as LED headlight bulbs, I do not recommend any bulbs that have a cooling fan. I only recommend "fanless" LED bulbs. They're not as bright, but based on my experience they have less parts to malfunction, and last longer.
      I’ll give you two, or three bulb recommendations for each position;
      Headlight 9007, parking lamp / turn signal 3157 Amber, and corner light 194 Amber.

      Yo Sheila,
      This comment warrants a video response in my "Viewer Question" series.
      I'll need to do some research to present some usable facts.
      I know you just want an easy answer, and my opinion.
      But I'm unwilling, and unable to go off half cocked, or shoot from the hip on this one.
      OK, OK, I'll leave you with this.
      I've been buying, and installing aftermarket automotive LED bulbs for my vehicles since 2005.
      In those 15 years I have very, very rarely come across an aftermarket automotive LED bulb that is DOT approved, (Department Of Transportation).
      Almost always they're labeled;
      "for off-road use only"
      "not for use on public roads"
      or something to that effect.
      I remember when HID's started coming out in the late 80's, and early 90's.
      The leap in technology was just as great then, as it is now.
      However, at the time most HID's were factory OEM and installed in proper reflector housings, or projector housings, and aimed properly.
      This should tell you where I'm going with this.
      Btw, have you seen the new "white phosphor laser" headlights?
      Yes, I said lasers.
