    It's so rare to hear John talking. I loved it but it hurt me too, I couldn't hold back the tears. Thanks for sharing this treasure

    I've heard all the nightmare stories attributed to this guy when his drink problem was at its worst. To hear him like this is such a comfort. Soft-spoken warm, sincere, considerate and humble. That was the real guy. Away from his family on the road and hitting the bottle could really turn him. The best Led Zeppelin interviews are with him and Plant playing off each others. True mates, a very tight firm. They talk Black Sabbath members because they were all Brummies.

    Just think, these guys were only 22/23 years old and already,by 1972,they had accomplished quite a bit of great music.

    Wherever in the WORLD did you find this?? What a treasure! It’s probably the most Bonham was interviewed EVER. I’ve only come across a couple of much shorter ones. It’s funny…, it sounds as though this was recorded and put down on vinyl. It sounds exactly like an old, scratched record. Or a very dirty one. Haven’t heard that sound in a long time.

      This IS a vinyl album! :) I've been an album collector for a long time. I get very lucky sometimes! I'm glad you liked the interview. I think Bonham sounds so sweet & young here, before the rock & roll world became too much. I did my best to clean up the record, but it's been around for a long time, so there wasn't much I could do about the scratches, but I think it adds a little old school charm. I could've done without those skips, though!

      I had this on album myself. I picked it up in a shop that sold bootleg records off Kensington High Street in London. That was 30 years ago. I don't know what happened to it. I can't remember the cover so Im thinking it probably was just a plain cover with a circular hole for the label, like a inside sleeve. It was definitely from their early 1972 tour of Australia. Might be slightly sped up as both Bonham and Plant sound a bit more higher in pitch and are talking faster than usual.

    Tie Dye….have you ever heard the song Tie Dye on the Highway by Robert Plant? Very cool song. He was trying to capture some of that late 60’s California sound that he loved so much and was referring to in this interview. Great clip of him performing it live at Glastonbury in 1990

    • @tiedyearmy
      @tiedyearmy  Рік тому

      I have heard that song! That's one of his best from his solo days. We saw him about three years ago, and I almost flew to the ceiling. He was SO good! I never got to see Zeppelin. Bonzo died just before they were to come to our town.

    • @helenespaulding7562
      @helenespaulding7562 Рік тому

      I wish I had caught him a few years ago with Shape Shifters. I saw him in August with Alison Krauss. I liked it… lovely music, but that genre doesn’t give me goosebumps the way his solo work sometimes can.
      I did see Zep in Seattle in 1977 but it was a bad time for the band…lots of tension and issues on that tour…. And then it ended with Karac’s death.
      So I never saw them at their best. And I never saw Plant at his peak. My own fault. Moved completely away from rock for a time. Rediscovered Zep in 2019 through reaction channels snd fell in love with all things Robert Plant. Feel I missed so many opportunities. But hey, I least I got to see him in the flesh a couple of times!

      @@helenespaulding7562 I used to not go to shows when the rockers got older because I was afraid they wouldn't sound good, but what I found after seeing Paul McCartney a few years ago was that it didn't matter. Seeing legends in person just transports me. It just seems to uplift everybody there. Even when we saw Ringo & his band a few years ago, the same thing. And we got to sing Yellow Submarine with Ringo! That was pretty awesome. I wish I could've seen Zep, even at their worst. At least we have the videos now! :) The only thing stopping me from seeing rock shows these days is ticket prices. I really regret not seeing the Foo Fighters recently. I saw them twice in the 90s and not since. And then Taylor died. Dammit.

    That's funny. Robert is saying that I really don't dig America 🤣, ummm, yeah, that's why Robert spent so much time in America around Los Angeles, especially in 1975 and 1976. John never liked being away from his house and England but Zeppelin needed to stay away because of taxes. The United States loved Led Zeppelin.

      Yup! It's John Bonham speaking! His laugh is high tone and his speaking 🗣️ is very fast but cleared! What if he was still living It would've been great to see him at this age in 2022! He sounds so cool 😎! Why did he have to go so soon? It seems like he's been ignored too much when he was living with the band! Page was very high in the spotlight but not much in the others who helped him to the point where he is now! On top of that he cursed the Led Zeppelin with his evil magical time! He seems like he put out the spell on his famous group and put them out not to go on! Especially, the drummer! He was the best! He made evil magic 🪄 on his band groups! Not on the groupies! The groupies live happily ever after! He still lives with one! If this hadn't happened the band would've been getting old together! Hey 👋! They would've done their last tour throughout the states and countries! It would've been millions of millions of smiles 😅 throughout the world 🌍! 😅
