I actually think watching Sarah ripping out that GPU was more painful than just about anything Linus has dropped, other than the "OG" drop of that whole test bench.
Yeah, most of those drops have little chance of actual damage, but it'd be pretty impressive if you brute force a gpu out and don't damage somthing.

@@rolliepollie6546 well since they are lga so there aren't any pins to bend or brake off yeah for the most part they are fine but theres till a chance you might brake something else if you drop it too hard but for the most part they should be fine
@@PardontheJPG There are tons of tiny resistors in the center on the back of the CPU that are sticking out. They fit inside a large hole in the socket and can very easily be damaged by a drop. Aside from this, scratches can disrupt connectivity between pads and pins or connect two pads together, so there's still a lot to break.
I love how most of the time he closes his eyes and doesn't even try to save the falling thing in the slightest.

If anyone, like me, had a "wait WTF" moment -- The context is that Linus was talking about how much media has changed in his life time and said something like "I've dropped my fair share of hard Rs" And kept chatting while the cohosty guy looked as if he had suddenly been slapped with a fish. Turns out, that he thought that "a hard R" was a euphemism for the R-word. (That is, the pejorative that refers to mental disability that was a really common insult 20 years ago).
