He can go right ahead and keep complaining about the lack of stalks, right to Elon Musk's face even, because I sure would. It isn't just turn signals either, that stalk also controls the wipers/spray and switches between high and low beam headlights. The shift stalk also does cruise control and autopilot, although I could live without the shift stalk easier since that is a much less near universal layout because there are all kinds of different shifters out there. Everything else looks good, maybe I would even trade in for one in a few years as long as there is a way to bring essential fixed physical controls back.

It annoys me that some channels / commentators use it as an example of how clever tesla have been to remove a component to save money but theyve added a bunch of other thinsg here much more expensive such as that awkwardly placed rear screen, extra speakers (now 17 .. ridiculous) and this removal is an ergonomic disaster no doubt driven either by American sensibilties (duh, whatsa roundabout?) or Elon Musks ego who obviously knows best about absolutely everything. When I realized there is a little locating ridge between the two buttons it became super easy. Once you get the muscle memory of where that little ridge is, you can select the right button without having to look, or even consciously thinking about it.
Roundabouts, it's rare to have to turn the wheel more than 90°, so keep your left hand in place and indicate as needed.

If the driver has to cross their arms and physically look to see where the indicator button has moved to, then the indicators will simply not be used. Steering yoke and no control stalks makes more sense with a steer-by-wire setup where steering ratio can be varied both by angle and vehicle speed so that the wheel/yoke need never be turned through more than about 160 degrees for lock-to-lock, and your hands can stay in position without arm twisting. If Tesla really has safety as highest priority, they should make manual driving as safe as possible. That would include 'no look' indicating.
The stalk removal will force you to look at the steering wheel at the moment you should look around before leaving a roundabout. Very important for safety of cyclists!!
Also, you often need to indicate in a turn. For example, I have to turn right into my neighborhood in a left turn. With my hands at 14:45, I'll have to look where the button is at.

Removing ultrasonics is stupid as well. And now remove stalks from a mass market car? Which will be terrible for demand.
Not wanting to put in cheap and working tech because of a technical development in the future, is just silly. Develop new stuff with camera only, in shadow mode....THEN remove the old stuff. when new stuff is working.
