Shame you didn't put the MYLR against the standard Macan or put the proper Model Y Performance up against the Performance Macan

Fifth Gear; you need to run this comparison again but next time using a Model Y with Acceleration Boost (AB) or with a Model Y Performance. Both still cheaper than the Porche.

Either compare the Macan base model to base model y. Or performance model y to the GTS. I myself have always been curious. But don’t take the slowest model y and compare to the fastest macan. No one will take you seriously.

Did you miss the part where they showed they have the same power? The long range is also the middle of the range not base as was the macan until they recently stopped selling the turbo. If this test was done 6months earlier it would be 2 middle of the range models.
The GTS is meant to be a sportier version of the macan so it'll always do well on the track again the Y.
Because they want the Porsche to win!

@@gaycha6589 you must not have something called google or internet. in America Tesla model Y PERFORMANCE now costs almost $25,000 less than the Macan GTS , even less if GTS is optioned up like it's normally done.
Wow, tesla fan bois calm down, this is the GTS Macan not the Turbo or Turbo S, not top of the range (not even available now). Also seconds are not everything. The Porsche feels soo much better to drive, to sit in, gives you so much joy and engagement what the tesla can NOT.
You really should have tested a Y performance against the GTS for more of an apples to apples comparison.
That, or test this Y against the base Macan or Macan S

The Y LR with performance boost would have been very close and the Performance model would be quicker all are less expensive than the Porsche. Do a better comparison next time.
This GTS did not have the track performance pack ie corsa tyres ptv etc so would be quicker again

Odd comparison given the pricing. Give the Y the acceleration boost + 20s on Michelin 4s tyres at least! Better yet should be the Performance Model Y!

@@STP-777 2 things: First, GTS isn't the fastest trim for Macan either. If you want a Performance Y, then compare to a Macan Turbo. Second, 2 seconds is is a lot for a small track like this; the performance Y probably would still lose.

MACAN GTS starts at 94 000 € in my country, TMY RWD at 49 000 € without any “eco gouvernement bonus” ; for Macan you have to add “pollution tax” my friend.
I’m not even talking about the funny thing that any little gadget as heated seats I.e. are optional in Macan !
You can easily double the base price of your Macan if you want some nice and practical equipments inside and outside.
In Tesla’s case you’ll get almost everything with your car for the base price.
There are 5 / 6 optional things you can change in your Tesla : outside paint, white inside instead of standard black, wheels size (19 inches are standard), trail hook is an option, and then we have 2 autopilot options and that’s it.
Even TMY RWD, the entry level model, has premium sound system that is much better than optional Burmester high sound system in Porsche that will cost you extra 5 000 € here.
Would be very surprised if it’s for free or included in your place.
So please go to the Porsche site, configure your Macan GTS base version with leather heated seats, sport pack, led lights, more than standard sound system (level 2 “Bose” is + 1 200 € here) and than compare with TMY RWD.
In my place Macan starts at 66 000 € plus 40 000 pollution tax = 106 000 € for the base of the base witch is even more than double compared to almost full equipped TMY RWD for 47 900 € with the minimum eco gouv bonus of 2 000 € included. According to your situation the eco bonus may reach 7 000 € here.
What garbage about regen braking in the Tesla. Just turn it off! To quote the manual:
Regenerative braking decelerates Model 3 whenever you release the accelerator pedal when driving. You can choose what you want Model 3 to do once the driving speed has been reduced to a very low speed (almost at a stop) and both the accelerator pedal and brake pedal are released. While in Park, touch Controls > Pedals & Steering > Stopping Mode and choose from these options:
Roll: When close to, or at, a complete stop, Model 3 becomes free rolling like a vehicle in Neutral. Therefore, if stopped on a slope, Model 3 will roll downward. The brake does not engage, and the motor does not apply torque (until the accelerator pedal is pressed).

You are using a Model Y Long Range. Not a Model Y Performance.
Not nearly a fair comparison. Even with Acceleration Boost the Long Range model is not the same as Performance.
LOL, owning a 23 Macan GTS and having driven and ordered a Tesla Y performance, I can safely say that the Y performance would simply destroy the Macan. The suspension and brakes alone make a huge difference to the grip, but the power bump is huge. Not even a contest

I read here people talk about the Macan being more expensive like performance is the only thing you buy. It's more expensive also because parts won't fly away on the highway. You are paying for higher material quality, engineering and experience.
Don't compare tesla with Porsche, it's just rediculus...

Love the Macan but u should have compared it to the model y performance not the long range. It also has track mode in which u can turn off the regeneration braking.
Will the brakes be up for it a whole lap with regen off?
Also M Y performance would have been closer to the cost of that macan too .. not a fair comparison best Macan taken but not the best M Y

I’m no Tesla fan boy by any means but the Porsha is turbocharged and the Model Y which isn’t the performance Model Y. Regardless the Porsche has higher top end speed than the Model Y. A fairer comparison would have included a 0 to 60 with the Porsche GTS vs the performance Model Y.
The GTS would eat it up. Why not just compare ev to ev. Porsche still wins.
GTS isn't the fastest trim for Macan either.

Try comparing a base model Porsche Macan vs the Model Y at the same sticker price and you will get very different results...

Actually as of yesterday the price of the Tesla Y long range car in the video dropped by 10,000£ and the Performance model Y that outruns every Macan ever built is now 59,000£
Thus this comparison is null.

As if Fifth Gear would let Tesla beat Porsche, they have a relationship to maintain. So to be safe they’ve used a Model Y Long Range, not a Performance. The Performance has more power, lower suspension, bigger brakes and a track mode AND is cheaper than the Macan. Pretty obvious what outcome they wanted here.
Model Y is £52k as of today...
£13k less than the Porsche!

Non AB Model Y LRs have at most 415 HP, not 440, and it is much cheaper than the GTS which is the top of the range. Redo this with an MYP and see how it does. Also the based MY (again, what is tested here) has Continental all seasons and not Latitude LS3 or whatever higher performance tires they ship with on the GTS.

Imagine posting such utter garbage. Comparing the commuter special Model Y vs the top spec GTS that costs nearly double the Model Y. Why would you not bring the Performance Model Y to your performance test? Doesn't fit the narrative Porsche is paying for? Journalism is dead.
Why not use the Model Y performance? I expect it would have matched the Porsche better in every way. If you wanted to compare with the base Model Y it would have been better to compare with the base Macan.
Should compare against a MY P not a LR
In USA, MYLR AWD can be had for a lot cheaper. And with Fed rebates it’s more than 10k-12k cheaper than that Macan. A better match up would be Model Y performance. And that would still be cheaper than Macan GTS.
With that said Porsche fit and finish is far superior, prestige factor is higher, and suspension is also better. Tesla on the other hand has better tech overall and a lot cheaper on pocket to run as daily. For most people cheaper and more efficient Y being equally fast in acceleration is a better choice.
one thing that will kill the Telsa is the tiers - you reduce range but sports tires will make it a lot better around the track

2023 > In Portugal the "low-cost" Macan is 89.481€ the GTS version is 134.227€ all without any extra. The Model Y LR is 54.490€ and the Model Y Performance is 59.990€. Is it normal this difference? 😮

Model Y is barely heavier than Macan. How much is the difference on the werigh bridge, if any, when the Macan is on a full tank?
What do you consider barely? I'd give you a few hundred pounds. 1100lbs difference is quite a bit. The number isn't as big of deal with the teslas lower center of gravity.
For me it's the pseudo prius tires that come stock on the tesla and the fact it's almost $20k cheaper.
Hands down would take the macans suspension over the performance model y. (Edit below)

So the presenter that owns a Porsche races the midrange Tesla (calls it expensive) against the top of the range Macan that costs £10k more. This is not comparing apples with apples. In real life if you had that money to spend you’d compare the Porsche with the Model Y performance. Incredibly disappointing invalid comparison.
Apples and Oranges. As previously stated, You tested a performance ICE car against a standard EV. Try it again with the Model Y Performance. I think you'll get a different result.
BS GTS is a mid range Macan, Turbo and turbo S not available now. Also 100% better feel, quality, joy, engagement....

Is this a joke? if you are looking for price equivalent model comparison - it should be model Y performance ($56,990) vs Macan GTS ($79,900 base). Another failed video from a biased reviewer who doesn't like regenerative breaking - are you serious?

The question is this though, how would either fair if you were able to set them up how you wanted rather than being limited to them as is.
You can easily tell the drivers who like automatic transmissions, they always complain about the hard regen in a Tesla. If you drive a stick shift, the regen is the same as engine braking from a large engine. I could chirp the tires on my 4.0L Wrangler and 5.0L Mustang by stepping off the gas too quickly.

Counterpoint- I am impressed an MYLR got so close on all season ContiProContact tires. I want another shootout with an MYLR with performance tires (keep the size if you want, PS4 (no S int his size and load rating) or PZ4) and AB on. Do another one with the P if you want but I suspect it would annihilate the GTS. Having the base LR on even rubber would be a real eye opener and plays to the strengths of the Tesla, which behaves much more like a mid engine car due to centralization of mass, vs the Macan which still hangs the engine ahead of the axle like the Audi it's based on.
Or.. they could just bring a Model Y Performance which has the tires, suspension, brakes, motors, and track mode to actually compete on track instead of being designed for bringing the kids to school like the Model Y LR is
@@Jeddin boring. We know the MYP would annihilate the macan. There is very little mechanical difference between an LR and P, esp now that the rotors and real calipers are the same. It's more amusing to see the everyday car beat the top trim Porsche.

Good video, but you have the stats wrong on the Tesla, this one Is 386 bhp, not 440 as you state, the performance model y is 440bhp , and a 0.60 in 3.5
But why put a Porsche GTS against a Tesla y long range and not the model y performance which is more like for like.
You can turn off the regen and split the power in the model y performance in track mode!
Shame on you for using the much cheaper Tesla Y Long Range instead of the still cheaper but quicker Performance version. Afraid you won't get Porsche VIP treatment anymore otherwise?

LOL. No it wouldn't. They both do the same exact 0-60 time. The 1/4 mile time...the GTS wins by more than half a second. Top speed. GTS wins by 15 miles per hour. Let's not even talk about the diminishing power and torque you get when the battery on the Tesla starts depleting, which happens fast when in ludicrous and track mode. Oh yea. One of the last things and maybe the most important about tracking a car. The handling! The GTS will out handle and out corner ANY Tesla with its eyes closed. Check out Nurburgring times. The S Plaid isn't even in the top 100. C'mon dude. I like EVS. I own one. But be realistic.

It lost by over 3 seconds, which is an eternity on a rather short track like this. You really think having a 3.5s 0-60 instead of a 4.8s 0-60 would change much? Teslas simply aren't track cars with those heavy batteries. They're only good in a straight line. Performance model would probably lose by 1 second instead of 3+.
So let's compare Tesla ev to the Porsche EV!!!!
@@r34ztune11 a Macan isn’t exactly a track star either, and at 4400lbs is heavy too. The point is that Porsche is a performance brand, and a Macan GTS is two notches up from the base Macan. The base model Y is likely as fast as a base Macan around a track and that’s pretty revealing in and of itself.
