I’m 67. I drive the slowest, smallest, shortest range, and cheapest Tesla model they make, which I lovingly call my poor man’s Tesla. I love this car (2021 Tesla Model 3 SR+, with 27,000+ miles on it)!
I love road trips. I live in Sacramento CA. The car has taken me to San Diego, Washington state, all over the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, SLO, Morro Bay, Fresno, Mt. Shasta, Palm Springs, Fort Bragg, Lake Tahoe, all over LA… and more! The Tesla and I have gone to AZ, NM, TX, OK, MS, TN, KY, IN, KS, NB, CO, UT, and CA. I went to the Nor Cal Coast (very remote) last week, and am going down to SoCal next week. My EV does not inhibit me - it liberates me.
I have no idea how much longer the good lord is giving me to enjoy my Tesla and my sojourns (well, neither does anyone else), so I’m going to enjoy life while I can.
    Great video, as always!
Happy and safe journeys to all!

On my last trip into Flagstaff I also unwisely skipped a Supercharger stop, figuring that I’d be at about 10% upon reaching the Marriott Superchargers. Well, given the uphill into Flagstaff, I arrived with only 4%, every Supercharger was full with ten Tesla’s waiting, and a fire was raging north of town! Fortunately, our hotel has three Tesla destination chargers. While we escaped the fire danger, I did not escape the tongue lashing from my wife! BTW, at 81, I’m way beyond your implied old age of 60, whippersnapper!

Relatable story. I spent (am still spending, as we have that car as well) five years driving a first gen Nissan LEAF full time, and regularly got down to a range of (in miles and percentage) flashing dashes. Nerves of steel. 4% in my M Y is 13 miles. That's 25% of my LEAF battery, on a good day. 😬

Flagstaff really needs updating. Last time I went through there (just a few months ago), there was one charging location (many stalls, maybe 10), but they were all 150 kw, and it was chock-a-block full of cars. I never had to wait, but we got the last stall each time (round trip road trip a few days apart). A V3 or V4 at a separate location in Flagstaff would be a much appreciated improvement.

My1st road trip in a MYP was only 190 miles one-way and I'm not impressed with the results. Driving at speeds above 70mph will quickly reduce the range and cold temperatures in the 30's made it worst. I had to make 2 stops for a total of 25 minutes to arrive at my final destination with only 10% of charge. Heading back was slightly worst because of the 25min recharge back to 80% and 2nd 10min stop, but I must say the Tesla SuperChargers worked 100% each time. For the daily commuter or the local driver, the EVs will be perfect around town. Unless gas prices sky rocket again, my 190mi trips will be provided by ICE nonstop round trip.

Hello gjeebs, your videos are always very fun and interesting to watch. I would like to know your advice. I ordered an ioniq5 in January 2022 and I still don’t have a delivery date yet. In the meantime, Tesla dropped their prices and the T3rwd became eligible to the 12k$ rebates offered by the gvts here in Québec. So I bought the t3 while waiting for the ioniq5. I really like the T3 and everything it offers, but I find it to low to my liking and I prefer a hatchback. I went to try the MY last weekend (long range). I really liked it. Now I am confused. I know that MY performs better than the ioniq5 because it’s lighter. I will use the superchargers for the first time in a couple of weeks and that reassures me a lot. The MY only qualifies for 5k$ rebates vs 12k$ for the ioniq5. The price in cdn $ is around 20k$ more for à MY.
I still have a year to wait for my ioniq5 so I don’t need to make a decision now, but do you have any arguments to give me to help my réflexion? I know you had been impressed by the ioniq5 when you tried it last year. I read the ioniq5 vlogs and there seems to be many owners that experience issues with updates. One who is traveling to the USA used 5 apps to get a plan A B C for the chargers….I read that and it makes me appreciate the simplicity of my T3.
