Far from junk. If its not rusted out they're totally salvageable. They're one of the most rugged automobiles ever made that are just as technologically advanced as anything made today cept they don't make town cars anymore. Great channel!

I concur. I've owned oh about 12 or so of them in different makes from crown vics, cop vics, Mercury and lincoln from early 70s but mostly 1996 and up. I spoke to a fella online and he said he used for livery and limo and he gets 700k if it's maintained on time. Taking care of a panther is the key. They're simple to fix, cheap, and will always be worth the time and effort. They don't get the props they should. For a man with a family, or lady, you can't beat it. So comphy, quiet, large for 6 ppl and had so much room in trunk, unless u put a huge box and sub. Save money and just hook up a wiper motor to a kick pedal from a drum and hook a harbor freight Rubber mallet to it and have it hit a empty 55 gallon plastic drum. I love loud Metallica, Nirvana but that Bass shakes my teeth and gives me a headache. Anyhow great cars. I wish I'd found them while in HS in early 90s and not chased Trans Ams, Camaros and mustangs. All I did was work to have money to fix, go faster break down and repeat. If I had my Paps mercury Grand Marquis, he worked at ford in Ohio so he got a hell of a discount. 20% Plus some extras I believe. 2 door. Door so heavy my 10 yr old arms had to work to get them to shut. He told me back then how great they are. But I wanted to go fast, not old, and slow.

I got a ‘97 for $450 (+$50 fees to the cops) at a police auction in Michigan. The auction listing said “Arrest”. So I figured “Ran when parked, right?” Indeed it ran, and pretty darn well! After cleaning it out (full of junk and filthy), I drove it for the better part of a year, trouble-free. All I had to do was a Permatex Ultra Black sealing of the rusty, weeping oil pan. Drove it to Tennessee where I traded it in on my wife’s ‘08 Town at Darrell Waltrip Honda Used Car Dept.! They gave me $400 as I recall!

Hell u pretty much broke even after a year and a tube of sealant. I tried to give my son my 99 Cartier and he said it's too big, it's Rwd, etc. Yes it can be a lil tricky in snow and ice but ya know, so can all things. Worse time I had was in a front wd Honda when I made a turn and she kept going straight. As long as you got rough light truck tires on back, and a few bags of sand, etc and can't mess around if a hill is coming up, get up to speed and she'll run right up it. And I like how I can control the car with the gas pedal. I've seen alot of ppl before the 80s drive Rwd cars everywhere. All else fails they got chain type products that are way way easier to put on, take off and you don't have to fight them. Love these cars.

@@jasonchristopher2977 I run four proper winter tires, and about 300 lbs of bricks/comcrete in the trunk. Nothing can stop me. It’s really hard to add ballast to the front axle of a fwd car. Plus, I hate trying to steer those things with my right foot. With rwd, it’s actually fun to do and facilitates great car control.

I've had my son in law's white on blue 93 Signature for over a year now and it still gets me from A to B. 287,000 miles (462,000km) and it ticks and has no heat and no grille and 2 of the windows don't work and it has other annoying issues but honestly it's going in my garage after I finish up my minivan's front end work and I will be doing a heater core and some tune up stuff and ball joints and all because my stepson needs a car and this one's AC is still cold and it's a rust free vehicle so it'd be perfect for him. It'll also free my garage up finally to get a nice project car. 65 Biscayne sedan with a 230 six and 3-speed on the column is at the top of my list followed by some 60s pickups and other basic fleet-ish vehicles from the 60s to the 70s. Something simple that hand tools are more than enough to fix anything on it.

just a l;ittle tip me my family owned several lincoln town cars if the brake lights ever go out there is a safety feature to keep you from getting hurt the car wont start ,
you are going to have to turn the key switch on and put the car in neutral to start the car, its to keep u from being rear ended. just a tip a fuse blew the brake lights out once and the car would not start as a a safety feature. this could be helpful since the car is 25 years old. anyway great video .... keep it going love those lincolns.

Hey its better to blow the brake line trying to do a burnout than doing it on the road, hooning is just stress testing 😂. Congrats on getting it running! 👍
About your beeping key, I had to swap out the ignition lock cylinder on my 96 mustang for a similar issue and it took me a while to figure out how to get around the antitheft. If you run into that issue there's some procedure where with the new cylinder installed you can reprogram the antitheft by flipping the ignition on, waiting 15 minutes, flipping it back off, repeat 3 times. Takes like 45 minutes to prevent it being used to steal cars, but it means you don't need a programmer. I have a copy (ISO, like a DVD but a file) of the 96-99 Ford factory service manuals if you want, send me an email if you're interested in the service manuals or the full key reprogramming procedure.

What are you thinking, maybe 1 through 4 cylinders are washed out from fuel being sprayed in those cylinders and not firing? Is that why all the smoke is blowing out the tale pipe?
Or maybe the smoke is unburnt gas in the converter(s)? Or both?
Anyway, if you're going to do a swap I vote for a Ford 300 L6 with the 2 into 1 LS head conversion. Build the engine while you see if the smoke clears up?(burns out of converter(s)) If you want help on the conversion I can help direct you if you have any questions. Happy to help, I really want to see one of these engines run, a lot of yt guys started one but I haven't see one running yet.
You're a bigger channel, maybe you can scoop the others? I can walk you though the mechanics of it, electronics side you're on your own if you want fancy EFI. But maybe a Vortec 4200 EFI can be adapted the easiest? Or if the later model Ford 300s came with EFI?
