You did a great job braving the storm to get to the Jeongbang waterfall. The scenery at Seopjikoji lighthouse reminds me of Ireland.

Thank you. I visited the island during the rainy season in late June and early July, which turned out to be a mistake. I could have enjoyed it more if I had visited during the dry season.

@ Yes. It’s best to avoid June to August due to typhoons. For Japan, we avoid June to Mid Nov.

Hokkaido in Japan might be good in summer time. I am tempted to visit it again.

@ Hokkaido in late May is nice. You get to see more flowers and the weather is cool. It’s best to drive if you want to enjoy the vast countryside. It can get a little rainy in June and July but hopefully not as bad as the main island.
By the way, the VoiceTra as well as Papago translation app is better than Google. It translates conversations more accurately when you type or speak into the microphone. Google is easier for pointing at signs.
When & when not to visit Japan. Helpful information.

      ❗️❗️Avoid:
      >Late March : Japan’s new fiscal year begins in April. School entrance ceremonies, new semester, company entrance ceremonies, personnel changes occur on April 1st.
School Spring break is usually end March to 2nd week of April
This results in many students going on trips during the vacation period before the new semester and some office workers will relocate due to personal changes so a lot of people will be moving around Japan as a whole.
That means Japan during this period will be heavily congested and transportation accommodation will become very expensive and scarce
      >End April to 1st week May
This is the golden week and many Japanese tech vacations during this time so everywhere will be very crowded. Hotels and transportation will increase in price. Shinkansen will be charged a special fee and you may not be able to book Shinkansen seats due to high demand.
Especially when travelling to International tourist sports like Tokyo Kyoto, Osaka Hiroshima and Fukuoka.
      >June to Early July
This is the rainy season in Japan and the rain continues all day, unlike some places in S.E Asia or America, where it just rains for awhile and it stops.
However, there are some beautiful flowers like hydrangeas roses that can be seen during this period
If you have no choice, then recommended places will be Hokkaido.
      >JULY & AUGUST (typhoon)
This is the very hot season and you will also be affected by the summer vacation of Japanese. People. Many will take a day off in mid August to return to their parents home during this time she can send bookings will be very difficult so because of weather and congestion try to avoid August.
      >4th week of September (Silver week) (typhoon)
Silverweek refers to mid to late September when multiple public holidays align to create an extended holiday period the dates do very each year so please check the calendar annually during silver week many Japanese day extended vacations over a week long by using the paid leaf again it is advisable to avoid coming to Japan during this time
      >1st week October: China’ Golden Week (typhoon). Take note of Crowds from China coming to Japan during this period.
      >Late Dec to end of 1st week January
This is a long vacation for Japanese who go back to the hometown, activities like visiting shrines. Many shops/places may be closed as well .
      School Holidays :
Spring break is usually around last week of March - 2nd week of April.
The holiday for high schools is usually roughly around July 20-end of August, December 23 or 24 - Jan 6 or 7 (they’ll start on a Thursday or Friday but if 6 or 7 is on the weekend, they start the next Monday usually). But each school is starting to vary. And private schools vary from public schools.
      ✅BEST TIME TO VISIT
      >1st to 3rd week of Mar (avoid end Mar) - but scenery is bare.
      >12 April - 25 April - nice weather
      >2nd week of May to End May (after Golden week). This is a good time to travel. It will be advisable to visit a few days after golden week. Give the HOTEL staff a short break as they will be very tired after the golden week crowds.
      > October And November
❗️Beware 1st week of Oct is china’s Golden Week so some places will be very crowded. Also typhoon season till mid Nov. Locals return to the daily routines after Silver week. Pleasant temperatures and the autumn foliage.
      Crowd control services
Certain locations like Kyoto and Kamakura have implemented websites for you to check the forecast of congestion.
Example “Kyoto city official travel guide webpage”
Travel hence free upon arrival at the airport you may use the services that allow you to send your luggage directly to your hotel. This is most convenient so that you don’t contribute to the congestion on public transport with your suitcases.

Beautiful view from the top to waterfall.. or just beautiful watching the waves from above.
Glad you shared jeju island.. I've always wanted to go here. Very wet the day you went.
That's cheap $33/day for rental car insurance included!

I was surprised by how affordable Jeju Island is. A rental car costs only $33 per day, and a hotel stay is just $66 per night. That's really awesome!

You know you made it out of Korea at the best of times. There are severe floods going on all over the place right now. This trip to Jeju may very well have been the beginning of it.

It was the heaviest nonstop rain I have ever experienced in my entire life. I stayed in the hotel for nearly three days, waiting for the storm to end. Eventually, I decided to venture out and face the storm. I had hoped to visit a few more places, but unfortunately, the storm ruined my plans.

@@WandererBell you will have more opportunities. Including the previous adventures to the countries you did not do videography. There is much more to South Korea. Fishing village of Pohan, and the middle of the country has a lot to offer both in history, filming locations that take you back to the Joseon time, and scenery that is spectacular. There is a temple, the biggest one I think there, in Guinsa. Challenging hike but so gorgeous. You may want to consider next time Spring or Fall. Nice cool weather, yet not snow. Cherry blossoms in spring and other flowers, but fall is beautiful as well. You will be back with a vengeance!!!! lol

Thank you. My original plan was to visit Korea in late March but I chose Japan instead and ended up staying in Japan for 2 and a half months. I will definitely revisit Korea.

@WandererBell Get the 10 years multiple entry when in Los Angeles. We don't have an Embassy in Hawaii and the travel agency charge high service and Fed Ex amounts.

There must be a difference in temperature between Iceland and Jeju island, South korea

    • @WandererBell
      @WandererBell  7 місяців тому +1

Very true. Iceland is cold even in the summer but Jeju heat is annoying.
